Working with a complex PerCutContour on the BN20
มุมมอง 2.4Kปีที่แล้ว
My process for a 3" die-cut decal job with a little more complex cuts than my previous video with the circle decal. I talk about my trial an error process and you get to see it as it happens. Thanks for watching and please like and subscribe for more vids! #bn20 P.S. "Ordnance" was misspelled on the initial art but it was corrected.
Creating a Simple Perf Cut on the BN20
มุมมอง 17Kปีที่แล้ว
Here is a crude video of what I go through as a process for a simple PerfCutContour job on the BN20. It actually came out longer than I wanted it to be. Also if you notice my machine was "disconnected" right before I printed this sample, I had just unplugged it by accident but plugged it back in, haha. Thanks for watching and PLEASE SUBSCRIBE!

Re-using the BN20 Waste Ink Cartridge
มุมมอง 9K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Here is a video on how I reuse the waste ink tank for the BN20. In the video I state they are like $75 new but I have since checked on SwingDesign.com and you can get them for $46 dollars. Either way here is how I re-use and replace the absorbent material in side it when I am in a pinch.

Great video, did you ever realize your spelling mistake. Ordnance on main logo, Ordiance on the lower website.
My "cut passes" states 1 however the cutter blade goes around the shape multiple times to the extent the decal comes away from the material while cutting - are you able to assist please?
What were the signs that you needed to replace the wipers
Good Job!
super helpful! thanks!
Just did this and you can also use a oil absorbing sheet on top. Couple bucks at your local auto parts store.
This works great on un laminated stuff but can't get this to work with laminated decals, no matter how high i set the pressure it just doesnt go all the way through
Videos sucks.
I hear you and totally agree as to using machines like the Roland BN-20. Programs like Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw, in that order, is a necessity to know when working with prints like vector based graphics. Prior to being a professional sign maker I eventually went into design. Reason is because sign makers had a stigma of having no design capabilities as we were compared to the graphic designer industry. So all the really cool stuff were already designed, but needed to be made into signs for "their clientele". I eventually realized how much less I was making simply being a sign maker. However, I always loved being on the design end of a sign whenever the sign company I worked for ask me to come up with something...I jumped on it! Got my hourly wage but knowing that the sign company was building on my capabilities of being a designer they started charging for design work to the extent involving logo designs. In other words I was building success for someone else. So eventually I went into my own business. Still in the sign business but a different kind of sign business that broke the stigma of just another sign business but rather one with designing integrated into signage. Anyway, I could go on but thanks for a very informative video and being real about knowing design programs that can take it the next level, especially using equipment that are professional based. I think Roland would sell to anyone, regardless of one's ability in the technical area of printing. So crafters need knowing this. www.glennracoma.com
The length didn’t bother me at all, because what you were showing was exactly what I was looking for. I didn’t realize that it was long.
Can you do car decals for the door
I learned SO much from this video and I absolutely appreciate you 🫡
I was wondering why my cuts was off I guess I gotta let the paper breathe 😂 I was thinking that I was saving material but I was wasting it
Thanks man
Thanks for this video. I seen Tx I live in Desoto (Dallas) would love one on one training:)!
Thank you for the detailed explanation of perf cutting. New BN2-20 and have been struggling with Flexi Designer. I had to export to Versa to get the perf cut controls needed for clean cutting, as you have shown.
I just use vinylmaster dsr to make the cut lines
Thank you!!! That will save me a lot of money!!!
Period pads! Aka tampons Dollar store 3 or 4 work. great absorption. Piece of shirt is great idea. Keep up the Hu$$le!
Thank you so much for this video! The cartridges have been on back order for so long!
Hello friend, tell me how much is the cost to make 1000 5cm diameter stickers?
Hello friend, tell me how much is the cost to make 1000 5cm diameter stickers?
Wow, ever think about adusting the screw tip to let more blade out? Your dragging the head of the blade and not letting the knife cut. JUST WOW. If you dont know what your doing why are you putting a video out! And you dont know where your stop and start is on your decal for cutting!
and this what we call a bad designer. LMAO, if you save it as EPS instead of pdf, you save space, its only sizes the actual cut/perf line not the boarder of the pdf size. And if this guy was a real printer he would know this! Also if you save it as eps you save data space on your hard drive as well. Anyone in the SIgn industry knows this. Also the machine has a cut test setting/ adjust knife pressure. So before running a job you can test blade depth. Read your manual first. Your machine settings are off. Cutting speeds the faster the speed the better the cut/ its a free swivel blade. If you cant cut IJ 35C at speed 15 you have bad blades and the settings are off on the machine itself. Call roland or your sales person. And I have a XR-640 roland. The only time i slow my cut speed down is long prints or Laminated, Laminated i switch to 60 degree blades from 45 degree.
how do i create registration marks and cut lines for an image in versaworks to cut on a graphtec or another cutter?
should i get this or sp300?
You do not need to center the media and get media width. Just hit print. Remove 10 mm from your file width to offset any possible 20inch roll paper variations. Took me several months to figure out that I am wasting my time with every print job for no reason.
I have replaced my waste bin material and my machine just constantly beeps and says it’s doing the cleaning. What do I need to do to make it stop?
Did you fix this problem? Just curious - tia
The printhead is capable of printing much faster but they cripple the software and hardware to upsell their other expensive series with literally the same printhead and technologies.
Thanks for the great video! Keep it up! I have been learning how to use my BN20A and VersaWorks this week and your information definitely helped me feel more comfortable. It's so interesting to hear everyone's unique set up even though it can vary slightly from printer to printer. Happy printing!
How long took this to print?
Thank you for your videos! I love that you use AI since that is what I use for our laser. Keeps me creating in one tool vs. several.
Super helpful. Thank you. Not sure why Roland can’t make these themesleves.
I see in your versa works in settings under the layout sections under media settings in size yours is in inches…. For some reason mine is in mm how can I fix this
good question. I am just learning how to use VersaWorks and I think you are having a setting preference issue. When you open VersaWorks the next time, on the top left corner click on the EDIT(E) option > then on the dropdown menu select PREFERENCES(E). Open the tab titled GENERAL and see the third option down titled UNIT> Click the arrow pointing downwards and select INCH option > click OK on the bottom to save changes. I hope this helps and happy printing!
I would’ve never thought of this! This method works great, it lasted me several months before I had to switch it out again. What brand of printable htv do you use for your t-shirts and hoodies? I’m looking to try out something new.
Whew, glad I found your video--thank you!!
Just got my BN20 yesterday, and this was super helpful 👏🏻 Thanks so much.
Great video! In this video you mentioned that you when you have extra space on the sheet, you add some extra decals. How do you do that? For the life of me I cant figure out how to add to a print job to fill in the space that is empty.
Great video broe all ways dropping some good information.i have a problem with my cut lines in my versawork can you help
Does this work for the BN-20a?
I think it works for BN-20 and BN-20A since both use the same software of VersaWorks. Have fun printing!
hello, very good video, ask how much is the cost of this Roland bn20 in the US and can my other question be imported to chile? What company do I buy it from, thanks.
Why even bother putting a sponge and shirt in there? 🤔 Why cant i leave it blank?
I was wondering the same. Maybe it is not necessary as the sponge is being replaced also anyway.
Thanks for the video. Any idea why my Roland Versaworks will not add the perf cut option? I see the cut contour and all other colors.
Hi, I'm currently learning how to use my BN-20A and VersaWorks. I hope you have been able to solve your issue. If not, here is just an observation. Firstly, to COMPLETELY access all the customizable job settings for a project, select the project's JOB NAME and right click > select option SETTINGS(S). Next, on the left column, select CUT CONTROLS, you should see two labels on the panel titled CUTTING OPTIONS and PERFORATED CUT CONTROLS. !!! Very important, for you to checkmark the PERFORM PERFORATED CUT FOR IMAGE BOUNDARIES on the lower portion under the PERFORATED CUT CONTROLS, you first need to have check marked CUT IMAGE BOUNDARIES on the upper portion titled CUTTING OPTIONS. I hope that following these steps solves your issue. Now, you can also add a perforated cut by designating a stroke color beforehand in Affinity Designer or Adobe Illustrator (there are many tutorials online that can help). 8) hope this helps !
Can this technically use a carrier sheet? Rather than print test patterns on rolls, I want to do it on regular paper held in place by a carrier sheet as not to waste my material.
You probably could do that, but I don’t know if the ink would do well on the paper. Because it is like a solvent, it’s very wet when it comes out in the paper may absorb it, and kind of caused it to spread out or something not really sure
Thanks! this is exactly what I needed to refine how I do this. I have a very similar process but a lot of the details you provided cleared so many questions I had. I really appreciate it!
Glad it helped
Thanks this was extremely helpful
Awesome!
Do you have any ink clogging issues with the bn20? I heard that the white ink can be an issue.
It is possible, you just need to stay on top of it. One option is to print a small circle or something on each print job that you can’t see if it will keep the white ink flowing
Nicely done. Thanks for sharing, Cheers, JAYTEE
Bonjours, je possède un BN20 et le menu perfcut est invisible. Avez vous une solution?
