How can someone afford the two drink packages on a 14-16 day cruise (since both people in the cabin must have their own). It seems the drink package will cost more than the cruise. And water isn't included. What do you drink if you don't have a drink package. And they force you to get 2 as a couple 🤯. That's almost $2,000. There is no way we would drink $2,000 worth of drinks on a cruise. We have only taken short cruises and the water was free.

We booked an ocean suite on the Jubilee, room 9293, which is over other rooms. We experienced a lot of water noise. The noise was constant and sounded like a hot tub or pool was right above us. Possibly we were near plumbing lines. We’ve cruised a lot and never experienced this level of noise in a room.

I had to wait for it, but you eventually shared my favorite tips for saving on an Uber after disembarking, waiting until the price surge is over or moving yourself to a location outside the terminal if possible. We discovered the latter by accident several years ago. We had just disembarked from a cruise. For some reason, I thought Uber wasn't allowed into the terminal, so I suggested we walk across the road and up a block. Later, when I was texting with a passenger friend from the ship, I found out she caught an Uber curbside at the terminal, but her Uber ride was $27 more than ours. Ever since then, if it's possible, we always walk out of the terminal or airport area before ordering an Uber. You may have mentioned this, but sometimes Lyft is a little cheaper than Uber for the same ride.

Honestly, doesn't look like much of an upgrade from a standard balcony stateroom.

This is the first video on transatlantic cruising that I watched all the way through. Excellent information! We are leaving in four months on Celebrity Constellation out of Tampa and debarking (is that a word?) in Rome. The cruise is 16 nights. Our longest cruise was 12 nights in the Mediterranean. We are normally "Loyal to Royal", but since Royal Caribbean owns Celebrity, our Diamond status equates to Celebrity's Elite status. I am 80 and my wife is 78 and we both love cruising. I am never disappointed because I expect things like rough sea days or missed ports. Both have happened and have never dampened my love of cruising. I don't mind children, I think they're a joy. Looking forward to crossing this off our bucket list.

On Caribbean Princess now from Rome to Ft Lauderdale. Had some exotic ports before the 8 consecutive sea days. I loaded up the kindle it’s nice enough to lay in the sun but Atlantic rougher than expected but not awful. Our first retirement trip so a week in Europe before boarding and cruise price very low including princess plus package and balcony upgrade. Next time will look for back to back with travel in between.

Thank you Dee. I am sharing this with my daughter who leaves in 3 weeks (Dec, 2024) on a research cruise from New Zealand to Antarctica. Your video provides some useful tips on staying warm and generally what it is like being there. She is already out of this world excited even though she will be very busy but this will add to the excitement. Finally, as a family, we were all on the Oosterdam in 2012 sailing to Alaska out of Seattle and this will be a fun memory for her on her favorite Holland America ship.

Why don't you to make it easy, supply links to current charts or spreadsheet charts showing prices that can be downloaded, instead of just verbally talking at a rapid pace? It would make it a lot easier. Just a suggestion!

I’m really enjoying this video series. We will be doing this cruise in Jan/Feb. You mentioned that most ports are tender ports and I was wondering how quickly they are able to get everyone off the ship for their excursions. I know ship-booked excursions get priority. Hopefully they use enough boats. Earlier this year we were on a Princess cruise circumnavigating Australia where sometimes the process took a few hours due to using few tenders and weather. It was very frustrating when using independent shore excursions. Most of the better excursions are booked and we are scrambling! We are really looking forward to the cruise.

Only go if you don’t get sea sick on rough, high seas.

It seems like the Ultra cruises are frequently more expensive or have less onboard credit. But I guess the prizes in theory make up for that.

People would be surprised at how many deaths occur on a cruise ship…I’ve been on many ships where bodies were held in the fridge until the ship docked. It’s expensive to ship human remains back to the states. The body is expensive & the one way last minute flights are ridiculous for the living passengers.

Trans Atlantic have gotten extremely expensive since 2022. They used to be cheap & the cruise lines struggled to fill up the ship. No more. The ships have 4000-5000 people on them & God help us if we had trouble on the water.

Skip the ridiculously expensive ship’s shore excursions. Royal Caribbean charges $139 pp for a 3 hr 4 wheel drive safari “Safari”… on the Azores…I looked up the same 3 hr tour online & it was $45. I’ve been on 4 trans Atlantic cruises & my best tip is: DO NOT BOOK EXCURSIONS from the ship. They rob the passengers & I bought tours that were more than half the cost of what RCCl charges. Beware!!

I'm really enjoying your videos on this particular cruise! We're going in early January of '25 and I need all the info I can get my hands on to be prepared. The packing will be a challenge but you've helped a lot on that. I'm considering the basic internet for $291 just for checking emails, uploading pictures (not video) to Facebook and of course staying in touch with family. But if the connections are not that good I hate to spend the money. What do you think? Thanks for all the tips & pictures you've shared!

Have done many transatlantic crossings Europe to Florida and so far calm and two west to east. Having survived many cruises since the late 60's before the internet., I am happy to be tech free for a couple of days. A few good books or an Ebook is sufficient.

Hi there, myself and a friend are doing this cruise in 2025 just a couple of points that may seem irrelevant but trying to get info of Holland America is quite difficult first of all how many formal nights are there secondly would you advise heavy winter clothing for when we go south i think I’m correct in saying the weather in chile and Argentina is quite warm so that is not a problem but the further south we travel i think it does get a lot colder…..thanks

We look for the trans atlantic dry dock cruises! These are usually in the fall, where a ship needs about 1 month in dry dock travels to a European shipyard giving us a month to explore Europe, then we take the same ship back to the US! You can find these cruises in the Pacific dry docking in Singapore! If the weather is warm, why not go in a pool, your wet anyway!

Yes. We love them! We like B2B cruises. A week or so in Europe and then the Caribbean. No change of suite. We have done 28 days in a row many times.

Splendid video! It was very instructive! We however, moved to the Treasure Coast and now we are two hours away at the most from all the ports, (except for JAX). The main reason for the move was the fact that we could cruise as much as we want at a moment's notice.
