Color Grading Footage From A Cheap Camera | Canon Legria HF R806 / Vixia HF R800 | Average Filmmaker
มุมมอง 2.4K4 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video, I show how I color grading footage from a cheap camera, my Canon Legria HF R806. It is surprisingly easy to make any footage look better. Even if the camera won't have the flat profile "LOG". First, we color correct the image so it's as close to the real world as we can, then we color grade after over liking. One thing to remember is not to overdo any of the color grading or shar...

There was no change in the skin tone color what so ever?
What program are you using to do this?
Thank you for posting this video 🎥🍿🍺🇺🇸👍. You have a new subscriber 🎉. Keep up the great 👍 work 🎉..
Thanks for an really easy to follow video, also wanted to say I found it funny as a swede that your svenglish accent is so apparent, keep up the good work man!
What you are missing: With this technique you train your continuousness to recognize the subjective appearance of color through a reference point while your brain can do the same thing on its own by training. If you learn this way, you will have a hard time making intuitive decisions. This reference point technique is usefull if you work for a small production part in big projects where different companies have to process the material independently. But if you want to be a master of your craft you have to flex your spirit ;) And there are ways to do that correctly. If you are interessted than contact me. Im happy to share my knowledge of focusing continuousness and flowstate. Al the best to you and keep up the good work! Live to learn and learn to live!!!!
I tried something similar with hdmi to hdmi cable + video capture + lightning to usb 3 camera adapter, i tried to connect my Canon r7 with iphone 12 pro, but it showed error that accessory such a usb 3 adapter need more power, so i plugged in charger and it doesnt show error anymore, but still doesnt show view from camera, i used blackmagic camera and CamX app, aby ideas ? Maybe iphone 12 pro is too old?
Great video, but I can't see ANY difference from before and after!
Me too?
my camera does not have an hdmi of sny sort, what should i do?, I only have a mini usb a round video out and a smaller round thing in the middle, I am using an older canon rebel xs
I am using capture card from my Canon 5D4 to USB input on Tripltek 9. Used that USB Camera app, but it doesn't recognize camera. My iPad works with the capture card.
As you have no comments on this video made 3 years ago, I decided to leave a comment to improve your stats! I watched your channel because I have been looking for an additional camcorder on eBay going for a cheap price. This brought me to the Canon HF806 and your channel. What I have found is the highest specification camera does not produce the best results! With some of the older camcorders, you get a more Kodachrome like picture! Thanks for uploading.
But what about he OTHER colors on the Spyder 24 chart. Has some made a Vectorscope guide to show us where the ideal targets are on the scope for those OTHER Colors?
Does your phone monitor screen go black when you press record on your camera?
How can I stream with it
I'm seeing people say that it's not working well with Vectorscopes and that it's for photography, despite mentioning video on the site. If so, since this video, has this now been fixed/worked around in their software or the latest DaVinci Resolve (e.g. via a new feature) or is it still not aligning accurately? Not sure why they are marketing it for video.
I just screen short a colour checker onto my phone. Cropped it to make it full screen. I'll let you know how it goes. 😊
I found what I think is a better alternative for my still photography, but I believe it should work for video also; it works well when doing video with my R6. I decided to try using my Galaxy S23 as a monitor for both my Canon 5DSR and Canon R6. So, after watching several videos about the process, I bought an HDMI capture card and the HDMI cables for each camera (one mini and one micro). Then I started the process of finding an app for my phone. I found and tried about eight of them. None of the 2-3 apps recommended in the videos I watched worked on either camera. I found other apps, but none that worked on both or worked well on both. Also, a few enabled touch screen control, but others didn't. I found an app for each of the cameras, but neither was entirely satisfactory. Then I discovered RupiApps "Camera Connect and Control". When trying it out, I first discovered there was no HDMI functionality, but then I noticed there was a "connect with USB" option as well. It works perfectly on both cameras and only requires a USB cable for camera direct-to-phone connectivity. Also, when connected to the 5DSR I have touchscreen functionality for settings that I don't have on the camera itself. Maybe you could test it yourself and do a video on it if you think it's a worthwhile alternative.
These output max 1080p 30 fps. If I am shooting 1080p 60, then how will it affect my shooting? If I buy the USB 3 ones which output 1080p 60 on my smartphone with USB2, will it work? thanks.
interesting and helpful thnx; the continuous head shaking is a tad distracting though,
The white-balance cards didn't have the same exposure, they were on the Fill Light side, not the Key Light side. this comparison doesn't represent actual facts
Have you tried software 3d lut maker for color correction? It's very powerful, can you make video about it?
how much delay
so... how do you setup the software??
Mine is not recognising my capture card I have a Canon SX 60 HS with the same capture card
Hallo ich habe mor die karte gekauft aber sofwar lonk geht nicht wolle die karte nutzen und profil fur captur one mor erstellen .kann mir wer helflfen ????
It's NTSC
Only manual focus for every pic I take.
How can we add a external mic to camera
❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
let's say I want to connect the camera to my computer and the phone at the same time...what adapter can I use for this?..thanks
it's essential in colour grading, I wouldn't say filmmaking, way too broad of a term
I want use external mic and want to live stream. But both option not available
In a sports hall, I do not recommend setting it to AUTO. Since the camera is the AUTO quite sensitive. Because when you take a picture over time, the picture will appear too artificial light and then clear light again. So I'm turning this setting off. I prefer to control the exposure and white balance and thus also determine that the light runs evenly over time in a room.
Why did you stop??
Some times life takes you in other directions. Docent mean i will be gone for ever. But right now, ther is other things i sopose to do. Thanks for you comment 🙂
I guess I really should have colour graded my videos, but being colour blind has its problems 😆 But after 200 Million views on TH-cam, no-one has ever advised me to colour grade my videos. I bought one of these Canon cameras yesterday, to play around with, a nice little camera.🎥
I do all the things but my phone can't find the camera 😭
Same! Have you found the solution?
Woah... that's a thick Scandanvian accent. It's lucky I've listened to Welsh people speak English. This is a good tutorial, but it's really hard to understand what you're saying.
wdym? He is talking very clearly
so the dimensions for the two cameras are the same? say if you get a lens or step up rings to screw in they will work on both?
nice rig. Where did you buy the battery adapter?
wonderful video.
Use always AVCHD format.
Great info there
Just bought Ugreen adapter for same usage and found your video while was searching for an app) thanks) Works really nice for its 20$ price
Can We Use HDMI To Type C For Connection Like Do We Actually Need Video Capture Card, Please Help Me Someone?
How about Elgato CamLink?
Excellent Video, Thank you so much for explaining each and every step in detail.
I tried this and was unable to reassemble the pan head after applying the tape.
The manual method will not work because the 5 color on the spyderchecker use different hues than the 5 box on the vectorscope. So you're basically matching apple to orange.
yes, this chart is not to be used with hue/sat menu.
How do I transfer the MP4 files from the camera to the PC? I couldn't do it
Great tips, I don't think I'll be buying one now!! I have just hit the 1k sub🔔 :)Robbie
How is the latency to the phone and is movement smooth? I tried using qdslrdashboard via camera usb to phone (no capture card, I assume this is what makes the difference) and it's got a poor frame rate, not something i could use for moving shots for filmmaking.
