Im gonna keep it real with everyone: this show was my first intro into the Witcher. I've known of the property since the initial release of the Witcher 3 but I never played it, never watched more than a trailer, anything. I knew Geralt's name, other bits and pieces about the story here and there, nothing more. I will always have a special place for the show because I watched it with one of my best friends sometime after Henry Cavill announced that he was stepping away and we went in with awful expectations. I had a blast, I loved Henry, I... Hated most every other character..... But when you're laughing it makes the whole thing so much better. PS: if anyone actually does read this for some reason, I'm 60 hours into the Witcher 3 now and I realize its still probably not the best way to start but I'm having fun. Which is one of the main points of media I'd say.

If you only play the games it centers more around Triss. In Witcher 1 you could pick Triss or the Dr girl. In 2 you again romance Triss. Yeneffer is not in the first two games so players that did not read the book think Triss is Geralts obvious love interest.

First thing im doing in Witcher 4 is giving Ciri proper boots, if her gear has high heels, midriff or a boob window im vendoring it. Ciri's two W3 outfits both look silly, Wera saying the outfit with a chainmail biki on top of a open shirt is the sensible option, it show how low the bar is. Comparing open shirt Ciri in freezing Skellige to her Witcher 4 trailer outfit, i already see a big improvement. But yall are free to do what yall like ofcourse.

I wonder when we get english or czech verison in Czech Republic.... so far no info :( nobody even said they will publish it here... hopefuly somebody will translate it or at least there will be english version to buy somewhere on internet. But season of the storm was relased here almost two years after polish original :( thats kinda long wait for me :D

Hello Wera, your disappointment in the norwegien woods book really piqued my interest and I looked up Murakamis work. From what I understand Murakami is fairly beloved, but I can also grasp that us men have difficulties writing good female characters, from a womans perspektive. I at least have difficulties with it. Could you elaborate on what makes a good female character written by a man in a future video? P.S. great overall Video. Cheers.

My way to the Witcher universe was so long. Many years ago, I tried reading the books in Polish but my language wasn't as good back then. Heard about the games but never was an RPG gamer. Years later, here I am in love with the game and found your channel to get more info on the backstory. Fantastic work! I can't fathom how much effort went into this video. Please, keep it up 🙏🏼

I deadass started with Blood Meridian. Don't get me wrong, I found it super immersive but after reading the Road soon after, I immediately face palmed as to why I didn't start with that.

Wera do you feel Mr Sapkowski should write a book dedicated to yennefer as the main character as so much about her is unexplored like Her traumatic childhood as a hunchback,her troubled training in Aretuza and her issues with trying to become a mother etc?

13:44 No, Sapkowski didn't "canonize the School of the Viper" and he never will. Preston Holt is just an old witcher from Kaer Morhen wearing a viper-shaped medallion. Geralt doesn't wear a wolf medallion because it's the emblem of Kaer Morhen, no, Geralt was given a wolf medallion as he very well could have receive a wolverine or any other animal medallion (as Sapkowski said it himself during an interview for "Polityka" (a Polish weekly newspaper)). Moreover, if you read the books, you will notice that at no time are the medallions of the other witchers of Kaer Morhen (Vesemir, Eskel, Lambert or Cohen) described ; they more than likely have other animals on their medallions themselves. The only recurrence in terms of witcher medallions in the books concerns "the Cats" but the latter are described more as a guild of hitmen than as proper monster hunters, which, unsurprisingly, makes them very unpopular, including with other witchers... I wouldn't be surprised if the bad reputation of witchers (as a whole) was actually their doing. Although it's never named "School of the Cat", they do have their own citadel : "Beann Grudd Castle".

I absolutely hate the show. I just started the books in January 2025 and only 3 1/2 weeks later I’m already a 1/3 of the way through Baptism of Fire. I hate the show even more than I did before.

The show is poop and I bailed before season 3, but watching this has convinced me to finally read the books. Very excited to experience the story as intended!

Hi Wera, congrats on one year! Regarding your response to Zoltan's question about streaming - there are thoughtful story-based games that have minimal (or even no) combat. I think there could be a lot of value in seeing your insights/reactions to some of the moral/social/ethical/etc dilemmas presented in games like Life is Strange. A more interactive version of reading a book along with you.
