Riding my Royal Enfield on a cold winter day in Melbourne
มุมมอง 379วันที่ผ่านมา
It was 9 degrees Celsius on a winter's day in July 2024 as I rode my @royalenfield out of the suburbs and towards the mountains in the distance. The temperature dropped another couple of degrees as I made my way up the Dandenong Ranges surrounded by tall trees and frost laden grass. Winter rides have a charm of their own and I have tried to capture the sheer thrill of a winter ride in this vide...
Motorcycles are for all seasons | Riding the Australian winter on my Royal Enfield Hunter 350 |

It's the middle of winter (2024) here in Melbourne, Australia and the mornings often start off with patches of fog. The cold weather, the dull foggy patches, the wind, and the rains - they all make it hard to take the motorcycle out for a ride during winters but on days when the forecast is of clearer skies, there's nothing more refreshing than an early morning motorcycle ride as the sun chases...
Thoughts after starting to ride motorcycles in my 40s | Royal Enfield Hunter 350 |
มุมมอง 1.8Kหลายเดือนก่อน
This video reflects my thoughts and experiences after 12 months of owning and riding my motorcycle, a Royal Enfield Hunter 350. I returned to motorcycling after almost 25 years and this time, with age, I seem to have a very different perspective from when I was riding in my early 20s/late teens. I even seek different things from my motorcycle rides than what I used to when I was younger. Hope y...

A couple of weekends ago, while riding my @royalenfield Hunter 350 through the Australian Countryside, I decided to take a few detours across unfamiliar tracks. Not for a moment I felt lost, as I relished a golden countryside around me. That's the fun of riding motorcycles. Motorcycles make sure that they always take you home before it gets too dark. Motorcycles are irresistible - just like Love | A Sunday ride on my Royal Enfield Hunter 350

A 30 minute ride on a late Sunday arvo can be all the healing that one's soul needs. There's a certain magic about being on a motorcycle - doesn't matter what motorcycle you are on - and if you have ever fallen in love, riding motorcycles gives you the same feeling. And that's the only reason I post these videos, to make you all fall in love with motorcycles. Go buy one and you can come back to...

In this video I weigh up the dilemma of freedom and how I feel held back by my self-inflicted boundaries. My motorcycle rides often provide me with a slice of the thrill and self-discovery that most of us seek. But then I question myself about my ability to chase a dream in its entirety, fearful of losing out on a lifestyle that I have so gotten used to. Hope you enjoy watching this piece of se...

You Victorians are hardcore. I thought it was cold up in Brisbane with a maximum of 17C. Great video of a beautiful location.
It has been (and continues to be) very cold down here in Melbourne 😊
I am in similar situation like you.. Closing on 40, was passionate biker in my early 20's .. Had big bikes but speed and power don't appeal to me any more. Love Enfields and thinking of getting one, love the character and the simplicity no nonsense approach. Hunter is my favorite but have my eye on the twins 650s as well.
Thanks for the message 😊 the 650 twins look and sound good. All the best choosing your bike👍🏼
Winter in Oz = Summer in England 😮
Haha almost I guess
Watching this from Arizona, USA. It's currently 44 Celsius here. Or 114 degrees in Freedom Units. Enjoy the cold weather. Some of my best motorcycling memories happened in the cold. All the silly/ not great ones happened in the heat. Thanks for the video! o7
Thanks, 44 celsius sounds way too hot. Take care and stay safe
You sir are a much braver man than I! To bloody cold , another great watch. Next time you are on Grantulla Road hang a right onto Ridge Rd Trig Point/Johns Hill brilliant lookout :)
Thanks for the tip, I will check it out
It has been pretty cold up here in Brisbane as well . The other day the maximum temperature was only 20C. Most days have been between 14C to 24C. As you said, can't wait till it warms up in Spring. Be careful on those frosty roads.
Haha! Must be hard with such harsh winter! 😀😀 cheers
I am hoping for a gap in the weather for a ride out in our British summertime!. I have a week to get my bike up to 300 miles in shorter running in trips , not as easy as I originally thought when the weather is not cooperating!
Hope you are enjoying having your new bike👍🏼😊
@@TheHalfNomad Its a charming little bike, I am looking forward to it being run in so that I can do a bit more spirited riding. I do have another bike, an older bmw airhead which couldnt be more different 980cc and heavy! Which I must not neglect!
It’s strange to see winter on the other side of the world, as we have the summer here. My learning continues and the Interceptor now has some panniers for adventures further afield and along the way I have acquired an old GoPro and tent. So may be, just may be, I will post some video - but I do not think they will be as nearly as interesting or creative as yours. Well done on your first 1,000 subs!
Great to hear you are getting ready for new adventures. Safe riding😊👍🏼
❤
😍
I bought the very same bike (in red though). Brand new, my first motorcycle at age 48. Yesterday I finally got it from the dealer and rode for about 60km. It's a beautiful bike, great sound and so easy to ride. I had SO much fun :-)
Wow! Congratulations and wishing you many more happy and safe rides
Great video. Congrats on 1000 subscribers mate. Ride on!
Thank you so much
Ride safe this winter Upstate rides with you. Weaving through the Adirondacks and chasing freedom.
Awesome, make the most of it😊👍🏼
Good to have you back HN and I've noticed you have topped 1K subscribers, congratulations🍾👍
Thank you. Been very cold to go out for rides lately. Yes the subscribers count is steadily going up😊 hope you are enjoying your summers
Man, you have never been in middle latitude or subpolar zone :D
Fair enough 😀
Best time of the year in Australia by a looong way
Agreed
Video and drone shots are excellent, well done.
Thank you 🙏🏼

Cool video, getting mine this week, Rebel Blue like yours!
Thanks and enjoy your new Hunter! You will love it
Hi it Chris from west London UK done nearly 3000 miles on my hunter will be going for 2nd service very soon very jealous of the roads you ride on
Thanks Chris, safe rides to you👍🏼
I have a Meteor and its the greatest bike ever 👍😁
Nice👍🏼 enjoy the Meteor
The first time I was able to shift gears on a moto, it was on a dirt road and I was about to cry, but I was laughing inside my helmet. I couldn't explain it. This was a superb video, tomorrow I'll buy my RE dapper grey . Regards from Chile.
Thanks for sharing and enjoy your new motorcycle 👏🏼👍🏼
I'm a returning rider, after 29 years, and I've got a deposit on a Triumph Speed 400 in Phantom Black to buy this coming week, but, am considering switching my choice to this bike. Love that sound, and it really did feel nice to ride. The only thing keeping me leaning to the Triumph is the 40hp compared to the 20hp of the Hunter. Tough call!
Welcome back to motorcycles and good luck choosing your bike👍🏼🎉 safe rides
Truth, my man ❤Just received my Hunter yesterday. Spent three hours on it today. Smile after smile. Still smiling now, and im not even on it. Beautiful video.
Wow, enjoy the Hunter and ride safe 👍🏼😊 cheers
After COVID broke out, and then unexpectedly my Mom died of cancer in May 2020, I bought my first motorcyle, a used 2008 Honda Nighthawk CB250cc. Everyone thought I was crazy. I had ridden Hodaka dirt bikes in the mid 1970s. Many do not understand how COVID has changed our relationships around the entire world, but fortunately it did not change our relationship with the motorbike.
Sorry for your loss. Motorcycles make great companions I agree
When I was twenty, in 1989/1990, I stayed briefly in St. Kilda and went to Luna Park. Good times.
😊👍🏼
Howdy from Columbia, Missouri. USA. For the type of riding you are doing there is hardly any better, new, bike. The price is especially appealing. This Hunter 350 really excels in third and fourth gear in the twisties. Go Rebel Blue. Great looking bike. I was in Melbourne in 1989 & 1990. Traveled by bus from Melbourne to Sydney, to Brisbane to Port Douglas, dove on the Great Barrier reef for two weeks, back to Brisbane over and up to Darwin down to Kata Tjuta, Uluru (Ayers Rock), down to Adelaide and then back to Melbourne. I was there for three months, and traveled by bus for four weeks. Have you ridden on the Great Ocean Road down by the Apostles? That seems like a nice ride. Your style of riding is exactly the same as mine. The weather here is odd too, probably due to all the extra energy expended at these Taylor Swift concerts. Causing disruption to the global weather patterns.
Thank you for the wonderful message👍🏼😊 great to hear you have spent time in my part of the world😊
Watch out for those pigeons!
😊
I am 43 years old, and this year I started riding a motorcycle. I wondered if it made sense, but now I know. When I get on the motorcycle, I suddenly feel like I'm disconnecting from everything. For that moment on the motorcycle, I feel happy and relaxed. The motorcycle provides me with a lot of positive stimuli: calm riding, beautiful views, the sound of the engine. Only those who try it at least once will understand.
Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your motorcycle and ride safe👍🏼😊

59 yo. Last rode about 35 years ago. Now on a RE Classic 350 signals marsh grey. Late life crisis here. ...loving it! Fuzzy biker calls his classic the Royal Zenfield👍.
Excellent keep enjoying your Zenfield and be safe😊👍🏼
Hi HN, another great video. Take care,T
Thanks 👍🏼😊
Totally agree! You’ve described perfectly how I feel about riding. Same as you, used to ride in my late teens… wife and children kept me busy for a few years so didn’t ride. Now at 53 I’ve recently passed my licence and have an interceptor and love every moment riding it. I always take the long way home and look forward to adventures on my day off 👌🏻
Good on you👍🏼😊 the interceptor is a beautiful machine- enjoy it👍🏼
❤❤
Thanks
Very wholesome
Thanks
I'm 52 and bought a Bullet 350 after over a decade of not riding and it has done wonders for my mental health. I hope to be pottering around country roads for many more decades to come.
So good to hear. All the best😊👍🏼
Awesome video, bub. I’m 51 and acquired a Classic 350 about two months ago. Your description of riding is really on point. Thanks:)
Thanks and enjoy your motorcycle 👍🏼😊
I was riding motorcycles for as long as I remember. After a 9 year break of being without one, I (now at my 54) enjoy my new classic Enfield more than ever. I don't care if it's a mid life crisis or not but all I know is I started breathing again. I love your words as they seem very poetic to me. Most of your thoughts were Mike too, but just couldn't put words to them :)
Wow so nice to hear your story 😊😊 enjoy your RE and stay safe! Cheers
I started at 35. I'll turn 40 this year. Keep on ridind !
Cheers
Great stuff! I'm 58 started at 54, I'm disappointed I didn't do it sooner.
Cheers👍🏼😊
"The only wisdom I need is to stay upright and take those corners very safely, and perhaps thats the only wisdom one needs in life itself" Freaking bars dude
Thanks mate😊👍🏼
I learnt to ride a motorbike having never been on one in my life, even as a pillion, 10 months ago, at the age of 58. The only downside….. I didn’t do it sooner. All those good times missed. Now I’ve got my bike licence I get out on my Himalayan every chance I get. Now got a 600 mile trip around Devon and Cornwall, and a 2000 mile trip around England and Scotland under my belt. Such a great way to chill and enjoy life.
That is so good. Make more memories on your bike. Be safe👍🏼👍🏼
Superb Sir 👍 🇬🇧
Thanks
I had a 40 year gap between riding, only started again in January, bought a 350 classic and its a great feeling to get away on my own riding the back roads
So good 👍🏼 enjoy your rides
Had ridden 350 cc’s and now I’m 34, going back to motorcycles after 10 years. Booked a shotgun 650. This wait is killing me
Shotgun is a great looking bike👍🏼👍🏼
This is wonderful on many levels keep up the grand work
Thanks heaps 👍🏼
I just bought a Hunter 350, it will be delivered in about two weeks. I am in my 40s too and haven't ridden in nearly 20+ years. This is the feeling I am hoping for that your expressed, solitude on the road, riding on back country roads, a sublime feeling. We shall see. Thanks for your video and thoughts.
You will love it am sure, safe riding 👍🏼
I gave up long ago trying to explain motorcycling to non riders. I always get the impression that they think I'm mad. They really have no idea what they are missing. Thankfully it has no negative effect on me and I ride my bike full of joy😁
So good. Cheers👍🏼
A philosophical treaty, great Video, a big salute from Argentina (Viva Royal Enfield!) Anyway I think the hunter would be better than the classic 350 to combine urban use in big cities (not for pleasure) and a quiet use on weekends on short trips out of town,
Thanks 😊😊👍🏼
