I can’t see that 5-6 seconds no-load running would harm that sort of engine at all, as you’d previously run it in, so oil was everywhere it needed to be. However, your panic-strip did overcome my intended comment that in your initial checking you checked the big-end bolts were not loose, but you didn’t check they hadn’t been OVER-tightened. Just as likely to cause you an engine failure with a snapped big-end bolt… Interesting video, thank you.

Is that "low oil level cutoff" you mentioned at the beginning not just a crankcase pressure operated fuel pump ?

Gotta say, at least the Loncin engine having a ball bearing on the output side of the crank is definitely a feature I wish more mower engines had. The Kawasaki FC540V I run in my single cylinder racing mower only has a bearing on the flywheel side as I recall. I was going to ask if there was clearance on the flywheel side of the crankshaft if you could remove the counterbalance shafts and put weights on the crank directly, but I do remember reading in the rulebook you guys do dyno the engines. I suppose balancing the crank like we do on some of the modified singles we run in the US would potentially bump up the HP and put you out of spec. On a similar note, I know the intent is to keep it cheap, but I'd say it kind of sucks you guys in Europe can't at least use a billet connecting rod with the intent in order to try and help with the longevity of the motor. The two minimum things racers do in the states are a billet rod and flywheel for reliability and safety. Do you have a regiment to check stuff like that after each race or so and then replace them before something catastrophic happens? Has there been any known occurrence of a flywheel coming apart at a race? That's the nice thing running the governed class I'm in. Since the engine is 100% stock except for the exhaust, I haven't had any major issues yet, outside of a couple carburetor hiccups this last season. Would you know why the factory mower engine is governed to 2500 rpm? Is that for safety and/or emissions regulations there? Stock mower engines in the States are typically set to 3650 maximum. That's the requirement we get checked at the end of our race for the class I run. Any one goes over that is disqualified. I apologize for the length of the comment. Just being curious about the differences in the regulations of the sport across the pond.😁
