@@wildlyimaginable The Unic might be a fine, but the previous ink is very stubborn, so it’s still soaking in solution. I’ll bring it in November with a couple of other pens that folks were asking about. I appreciate the healing vibes, although I’m pretty sure it’s Covid and so staying home it is. I enjoy everyone’s company too much to expose y’all to this misery.

This year's Pelikan Hubs ink is so gorg! That shimmer is ALL that! Sorry that the space made it difficult to hear. Do they have a feedback form you can fill out?

However I shouldnt complain I didnt think we were going to have a Pelikan hub at all I am on the board of community members who plan the Pelikan Hub and nobody could find a venu for this years hub and so we all gave up and Somebody took up the torch and the only reason I heard about it was because a friend of mine came to our pen club 2 weeks prior and showed me the email telling me where it was going to be otherwise I wouldnt have known... The space was beautiful however there was a lot of people crammed in a very small shop space so maybe next year wwe will have it at a park or somewhere nice :)

Thanks Arindham! The baggie swatch was so cool when I saw it being done and I am now forever in the baggie swatch camp but you gotta have room for the ink to spread, that's why it worked so well on this page.

THANKS Bucky! I'm an introvert through and through but what I realized is that I have to go in to an event (learned from going to pen shows) knowing what I want to achieve. This time at the Hub it was just about having fun chatting to new peeps. I did have to check myself while I waited in line to be registered at the front desk but by the time my turn came I'd turned my scattered OMG-there's-lots-of-people-I-don't-know mind, down. So yeh, large crowds still get me.

When I first heard about the Hubs I thought it was strange that it was not more Pelikan pens centered. Even so, I love a good pen meetup despite the fact that these are no longer strictly about Pelikan pens. Seems I lucked out with having Cindy here in Portland. She's is excellent at facilitating even our regular pen meetups. Were you part of the original Pelikan Hubs in the early days? And is there a Hubmaster meetup?

The stickers were not part of the swag provided by Pelikan, They sent the bottles of Golden Lapis ink and the pad of paper. The Portland Hubmaster probably purchased those stickers. They are sold by Rickshaw Bagworks.

When I joined last year, I found that this PDX pen group is well established. There are some serious longtimers who are still a part of the group. They are a great bunch of people and I am grateful that this is my local. If you're ever in the area you'll have to visit one of our meetings. Also, thanks for watching. It's good knowing that my videos are being enjoyed. 🥰

I saw the name Rickshaw on the sticker plus another name that I have to check out. I'm a sucker for fountain pen stickers and this one is pretty cool.

Aren't they gorgeous blues? I was going to write over the Golden Lapis label because by the time I dipped again to write the ink's name, the shimmer had settled already. That was a bummer but I'm learning to go with the flow these days (the old Grace would have whited it out immediately and written it again to get the shimmer 😆).

@@Calcprof Nice Tom! I have only 1 in my collection and it’s a sample. Need to remedy that cause I love using the one I have. I understand doubling up on the Sabimidori. From swatches I’ve seen, that ink is a real chameleon with the bluey-green nature of it. Gorg still tho.

Loving those heart emojis! We shall see which pens make the 10 grade at month's end. 🤔 Believe it to not but have only written once, in my journal, with the Alt-Goldgrün so far. How is that even possible? Me thinks that needs to be rectified...pronto! 😆

@@wildlyimaginable yeah you definitely need to correct this 😆 I've inked pens for the season with Diamine Ancient Copper, Honey Burst, Chocolate brown, KWZ Honey, R&K Alt-Goldgrün and Pilot Iro. Yu-yake (sunset) I even write random stuff just to see those beautiful colours in action and stare at them 😂😂

Thanks Donna! I have a long list (15 at last count 😆) of Vinta inks on my wish list. So, I am only now finding out about Noodler's founder am not pleased. I stopped purchasing the inks a long while ago but not because of that. Their inks were always inconsistent (especially the Baystate Blue that heavily stained a TWSBI pen that took ages to wash out. 😤). I received that Southwest Sunset in a ink stash someone sent to me. Got 5 in that stash and Southwest is the only one I kept. Makes me feel ick about products with backstories like theirs.

@@wildlyimaginable That's the sad thing. There's some really fun colours but I just won't. I also agree about the inconsistency. That much batch variation would drive me crazy. The vintas are sheeny goodness and some mad combinations. They will be a real problem for me when they start being more available.

@@blktauna Haha I could see that. Altho I want to start collecting Vinta inks their quantify is beyond my 15ml max bottle rule. Sooooo….maybe should each get a few and share ½ bottles with each other. I’d be up for that.

I’m so glad I’m getting to use BPC Root Cellar in a pen. So far I’ve only used it once to mix inks. Thoroughly enjoying writing with Alt-Goldgrün.

Wow RC! I had vaguely heard there was an issue with brand owner for Noodler’s but admit I did not do much research then. After your comment I did, and found a post on Reddit that goes into much more detail about him. 👀 WOW! Definitely makes me rethink having these inks in my collection. When you know better, you do better.

Hey Susu 👋🏽 I lived in Fl for a couple years and now I'm here in the PNW. I def prefer here to experience the change in seasons. You're right, the swatch is more often not the colour you get writing. I love to see the properties in a larger swatch but it's the writing example that matters more to me. I am always intrigued by the results and my feelings about the PIPs I choose at the end of the month. 😆 Except for BPC Root Cellar, which I was hoping wrote more golden yellow than the lighter brown that shows up (😒), I'm good with all the others. As for boots...I get you girl. Temps are 45 - 67-ish degrees here and I love these lower, cooler temps right now.

Hey Jim, it's not necessarily a dark green colour I was after. Both inks you suggested I find more represent the varied shades of greens that signify Spring to me. I much prefer the olive-green nature of Alt-Goldgrün that signifies Autumn to me. And I dare you to use that RO ink. It's a gorgeous, bright and fiery red. Also, I've heard of Zebra G Callig nibs but have not had the chance to use one as yet. Do you do a lot of drawing with it or mainly writing?

@@wildlyimaginable Fair enough on the green ink. I do have other red inks, but I will get around to using the FER pretty soon. Honestly, I'm not much of an artist so what I try to do is some doodling rather than drawing. I'm also writing with it at well. I tend to have a heavy hand and since the nib has such a sharp point it's helping to train me to use much less pressure. And I have plenty of time to practice!!

@@zeus52452 Me too, more of a doodler than an artist. Been having fun drawing small 9-box Zentangles as a way to use my ink up each month. Makes sense about the G nib's purpose for you. I saw that it had a sharp point and was wondering if I should get then realized it would probably be more interesting to have than a need.

At first I had my eye set on White Rabbit but then I inked up Alt-Goldgrün for October Currently Inked....fits in with my Season of Colour Edition.

Awwww...thank you! I get a kick out of being quirky with my nail polish. My nail tech is quite used to my out of box thinking by now. Heehee. As for these types of pens, I think I need more and more. Actively looking at what else is out there in the capless/retractable pen world...including maybe, the green Curidas. Got to try an Ennso Bolt at our Pelikan Hub meetup last week. It's now def on my pen wish list. 🤪

Mmmmmh.... Hadn't given much thought about Lamy ink being the issue. I need to take the ink for a ride in a few pens and write a few passages with each. Hat to think that that ink, which I have awhole bottle of, is the cause of those blobs. 🫤

@@arindhamvaid3609 Nope. Altho I like it a lot, I've stopped using my Kakimori nib, ink flow was bit too inconsistent for me. These days I use a Jinhao 82 GDP for writing and a folded or calligraphy (B1/2 round) nib for swatching the ink. Funny you should ask because I'm now recording a 2nd ink swatching tools video cause I've long found it fascinating the tools we use to swatch inks. Got some interesting ones coming up.😉

Ikr! I bypassed it when I saw it online originally and then hemmed and hawed over choosing for this swap it but am so glad I did. It is an unusual color but the fact that it's readable is bonus indeed 😊
