    Good for you, wash out your pens & start anew. Sometimes the best pens & the best inks have trouble matching. You knocked it out of the park with your 30 inks 30 days, can't wait to see what your creative juices produce in July. all the best Ron Sexton

      Wow, thx Ron!!! What a complement! 😊 Got a brilliant new lineup for July coming out in day or 2. Let's just call it...the best of 30inks 😆

    Hi, Grace. Sorry you had a bad month. FYI, I'm always very careful with pens when I'm worried about staining, including those with white sections. I tend to avoid red inks and most purple inks altogether -- red in particular often leaves stains. Another option is to syringe-fill the converter so you don't have to dip the section in ink at all. You might try using Rapido-eze Cleaning Solution from Koh-i-nor. It might get the stain out, but I'm not sure. (I fell the other day and the limited edition Pilot Decimo I was holding got some stuff marks on it. They're only visible when you hold the pen up to the light, but it's driving me crazy just to know they're there. I pamper my pens and want them to be pristine.)

      Marilyn, I hadn’t a clue that that Aurora ink would stain. I’ve had this type of experience with other inks but was totally surprised that it occurred. Thing is I generally ink up thru the converter, not dipping the nib in and filling that way. This happened after I filled the pen and was writing for a while. I do know that some feeds dribble ink and I think that’s what occurred here.
      I will def check out that cleaning solution you recommended. Even tho the red on the threads can hardly be seen, it’s driving me up a wall knowing it’s still there so I get you about having pens be pristine. The other day I found a small indent in my E95S cap (😱😭) and I’m so hurt by that with no idea how it happened.

      @@wildlyimaginable Oh no. Dents like that drive me crazy too, so you have my empathy. Even when the damage is not that visible, I stll know it's there! And the E95s is so beautiful that any mark on it is a shame.

    I know you didn’t love some of those pairings, but I just had to say WOW I absolutely love ❤️ the overall color palette of different blues and that bright red! So summery. So 4th of July! As for the Inkvent shimmers, I really loved Blizzard more than Glacier because the shimmer was well-flowing and not so overly shimmery. I haven’t actually inked Glacier because I’m so sure it will clog a pen. I’ll just use dip pens for it for now.

    • @wildlyimaginable
      @wildlyimaginable  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeh, the lesson from that pairing is Glacier needs a broader nib but.... after using it for this C-Inked, not sure I want to use it again. I've already put it in the "needs-a-new-home" pile. Blizzard is def much better especially in terms being a more readable, deep-coloured ink.

    When I hit one that doesn't work, It gets chabged. Life is too short. Sometimes I use an old fave, sometime I pick something wacky. You are more structured than I so I get it can be dissappointing when a combo doesn't cooperate. That one blue is delicious tho. I'm glad to see it.

    • @wildlyimaginable
      @wildlyimaginable  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I try not to be too structured these days (considering my previous work where I had to be) but it shows up nonetheless 🤣 For me it’s all about gathering data and using it to make a more enjoyable writing experience but now, if a pairing is acting up badly, ink gets dumped and pen is put in timeout. Ha!!!

    • @andreapalma7570
      @andreapalma7570 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I usually do the same thing and try a bad pairing in at least one more pen. I also have a few pens that I keep a running tab of which inks went in them, because they can be finicky. So helpful.

    Hi Grace, I totally can rely on the frustration you had with the little problems showing up!
    After some days of inking a new pen I take a look at my notebook/journal and count how much I actually used the pairing- then I try to figure out just as you did, where the problem was.
    When I get too frustrated I immediately clean it out, it happened so fast, that I forgot to write it down in my own PIP-Book why it wasn’t good 😅
    Gladly 30inks went way better for you!

    • @wildlyimaginable
      @wildlyimaginable  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I feel like we don’t talk about this end of things as much as we talk about our shiny new pens or the inks we get. It’s why I started keeping a record, like you, of my PIPs pairings and choose to always share my findings good, bad or indifferent. I think 30 inks came at the right time for me. So much I’m unpacking right now about what I learned, what surprised & pleased me and the things that gave me pause. Can’t wait to share that too.

    Have been feeling aggravated with inks lately - I love all the colors and big samples - but when I put them in my pens - I am disappointed with how they write on paper - from un- readable colors to skipping & shimmer clogging - anyway…only samples bottles of ink (for the most part) - so not a huge waste of money and I guess the time spent is all in the name of “pen fun “
    I am thinking of trying to put same ink in 2 or 3 pens with different nib sizes, write with one color for a week or so and use that method to “score” the inks and pens as well - I do love those big ink splatter swatches - so am keeping them - but trying to stop using that big swatch as my decision maker for liking an ink

    • @wildlyimaginable
      @wildlyimaginable  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Susan, so much of what you said is what I’m feeling after dealing with May’s pens & ink pairings. I’m more, mmmmh….cautious of what inks I buy AND then pair with pens. Samples are the way for me instead of bottles these days too, especially not having tested new inks in the pens I have in MY collection. I think the 1 week “test” you describe is a brilliant way to move forward. The fun of the hobby for me is, ultimately, to produce a good writing experience and if I’m not enjoying it, that defeats the purpose of purchasing anything more. I’d love to hear how things go for you.
      Also data is so important, even with pens and that’s part of why I did 30 inks like I did. The randomness of the pairings gave me true insight in the pens and the inks separately and together. I so much a colour person that I can’t help making big splotches of colour (makes my heart sing) but always, always base my ink purchases on the writing. Don’t like that some shops only show plops of ink with no writing samples.
      Btw, thank you for this…I’d love to have more convos like this, but in person or virtually. I would do us good as FP enthusiasts. 🥰
