This is why we train our front kicks in our Lanka's and do a water block while kicking. It greatly decreases the odds of a sweep after a front kick, sets us up to block the opposite side in case of a punch, keeps us balanced, plus sets up our fighting stance for the other side when finished.. As far as punching the shin, or throwing that low X block. Just hope your snap is fast enough to miss and/or they don't get it and severely hurt you.

For those that don't know. The tighter someone grips/makes a fist, the easier it is to knock their arm down. The stronger your grip, the more bicep muscle you use, meaning the opponents arm is already fighting against itself. Whacking it quickly during a grip at the joint utilized the opponents' grip strength against them. Test it yourself. Place your arm on someone's shoulder and make a tight fist. (Your wrist should be resting on their shoulder and your hand is behind them). and keep your arm straight as possible. Have the other person pull down on your arm at the elbow and fight back to keep it up. Now, do the same thing, but use an open hand, it will be much harder for the person to pull your arm down.

We do something similar, but with a reverse stance to keep our body weight towards opponent. Standing straight up twisting like that makes you easy to throw off balance if person dodges like this and happens to pull or push. Looks almost like you had a small stumble for this reason when going faster in the video. The reverse stance lets us throw a foot hook to sweep if needed. We also train when reversing to have a hand up next to our face just in case. But that sweep is very effective too

What I like to do during sparing early in session. I test the other persons ability to grab my leg with front kicks like this. If they are fast enough to grab it, a powerful side kick to the body might not be the best option since the power isn't there to pull back like during a front kick, and stick with lower kicks to the legs.

Risk vs Reward. When your planted foot is between 0 -45 degree's of opponent (0 being pointing directly at opponent). This is the strongest position for the person to counter a leg grab as you have full power to pull your leg back. Over 45, you can't, or it's extremely hard. So be sure to pull that leg fast and get that foot past the 45 mark or you can/will be countered.

We practice a "push-back" attack, and it's a lot harder to do when actually being pushed than one might think. Especially against a strong opponent unless you catch it soon as they come in to push. Their stomach will be back as their shoulders are forwards and arms extended from the pushing motion, making it nearly impossible to hit the stomach with a fist. Unless you have gorilla arms 😂

@nishantsharma15543 here in the States. If you push or strike someone who's not holding a weapon at you or physically harming you or someone else. You can/will be arrested for assault. While I agree with the "strike first" theory, legally, it's a bad thing to do. It's why I like Silat. Sure, we have strikes and attacks, but it's a defensive counter art. When we train, we are always the ones being attacked, never the attacker. A good example of this would be our striking sequence. It starts as a defensive attack and can't continue after one or two strikes until the other person attacks again.

The punches, not so sure about, but a normal front kick can take down a bigger guy. Just like the debute fight of Kimbo Slice. He was huge, and the guy just did a front kick, knocked him down, and ground and pounded him.

We do something similar is Silat. We use a bladed hand, and put the side of our wrist just behind the elbow (same spot you had your hand). Strong and smaller surface area creates more pressure and pain, then once we get them to the ground (in order) horse stance, shoe tie, tornado, we grind that wrist bone into their arm trying to force their arm to turn to bend their arm behind their back. But, you have to be leaning on them or they can get away.

Bro he is not wrong. I think he is just showing a combination instead of fighting. Cause when he throws first punch either it will hit or distract the opponent and then second will hit....
