Most of the harmonica music has moved to Soundcloud. There are 74 tracks over there now. soundcloud.com/tremolo-rex/tracks The instruction videos are gone. Just music. The diatonic and chromatic videos are gone. Just tremolo and octave music went to Soundcloud. There are about 40 videos that will stay here on TH-cam.

German folk song for springtime. The melody was composed in 1845 by a Benedictine monk named Anselm Schubiger from St. Meinrad Archabbey in Switzerland. Here it is played on a Hohner 2309 Echo Harp in G. This harp has 16 notes, numbered 2 through 9 (pairing blow and draw notes with one number. 8 numbers for 16 notes. Starting at 2 allows for tab that matches Richter harp tab (20 note harp). Thi...

    I was in a "get it going now" mode, I sprayed a little WD-40 on the fan shaft, it ran down into the armature and lubed it enough for the squeaking to stop. the fan spun up faster creating enough vacuum for the pressure switch to activate. I think I'll keep doing this until it doesn't work anymore.. Good video, I was like... how do I get this apart.

      If you want one brand, I say Seydel. There are 2 versions, the Sailor (good for melody with chords) and the Skydiver (good for melody, see my video about Richter and Asian tuning). Hohner Echo (the German made ones) and Suzuki Humming are also good. All these are good and it comes down to personal preference. There may be other great tremolo harps, such as Tombo, but I have not played those. Do not expect much from cheap harmonicas.

    OK, Peoples, my furnace combustion blower motor is TEMPORARILY back in service this Sunday afternoon. Mine uses 5/16" hex screws which makes it easier than Phillips like some of the furnaces have. I have an offset ratchet wrench which makes accessing some of the motor mount screws easier. This temporary fix involves using Knock-r-Loose and turbine oil. First disconnect the motor leads and silicone tubing and trim 3/8" from the one that attaches to the plastic cover over the motor as the heat will soften it so that it loosens over time. Next remove the plastic cover and be careful with the felt gasket (which I glued back in place). I used a 5/16" socket with some rough painter's tape on it so I could grip it with thumb and forefinger for the hard-to-get-to screws. Loosen the screw for the motor assembly that is to the right and behind the duct and ONLY loosen it a turn max otherwise replacing it will be a challenge to get the holes to line up.. Remove the other two screws. Carefully push/tilt the motor winding portion downward about a half inch or so. This allows you to be a contortionist with a flash light and spray can straw of Knocker Loose or other penetrating oil of your choice. Just a drop or two on the fan shaft so the oil runs down it. There is a slight dish to the housing with the bushing under it. Repeat several times with a small amount of penetrating oil which, with luck, soak somewhat into the oil-lite bushing. Then I like to use turbine oil as it seems to seep into bushed bearings better than anything else I have tried but motor oil could work; just put a drop on a long screw driver tip and wipe it on the shaft. My experience is that this bushing is the one that seizes on this type of motor; when the motor seizes it does not burn up because they are impedance protected. The heat will vaporize the oil and blow it out the ducting. Carefully reassemble and note that the plastic housing has grooves for the wires. I had to use adhesive to put the gasket in place on the duct. If I need to do this again before the new part arrives then I will drill a hole just big enough for a spray straw and aimed towards the fan shaft. With luck I will be able to insert the straw until it stops at the shaft and then give it a drop of oil to run down the shaft. Some of the part numbers cross over to York so they may have made these furnaces for Coleman. I have a laser thermometer and plan on seeing how hot the duct gets. I hope this helps someone else and I did not mean to steal the poster's thunder with it. A special thanks to Rex G for starting this video.

    • @ArnCital
      @ArnCital 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The duct appears to be less than 100 degrees F so that means the heat exchanger is very efficient, which is good. The turbine oil should last for awhile until a new part arrives.

    Thank you for this video. My furnace was installed in '05 and the original combustion blower motor is seized up, on Sunday, just before Christmas, with an elderly lady of 80, health issues, newly broken arm, and in a wheel chair. I am glad I found this video It is 5 days to get a new one and I may as well order the igniter as well. The upper vent tube near ceiling appears to be cemented in place for better sealing. You confirmed that the igniter assembly has to be removed to drop the blower motor assembly. I may buy the door gasket as well to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning. I have a carbon monoxide detector near the lower part of the furnace.

    • @TremoloHarmonica
      @TremoloHarmonica 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The igniter does not need to be removed. I bought a new one because I read somewhere that they are fragile. However, mine did not break, so I have a spare just in case. After removing the screws, just lower the assembly enough to get the upper tube free. Again, the igniter was NOT removed to replace the vent booster.

    Hi Rex, Nice tune, well-played as I'd expect. I enjoyed your tone, warm with plenty of trem saturation. I also have a Hohner Echo. I've had a it a few years. It was and still is sold as the Echo 48. I don't know of a model number associated with it. It too is numbered from 2, starting on mi (E). However mine has no hole numbers stamped in the covers. I picked up the hole numbering convention from Phil Duncan's book, Tremolo and Octave Harmonica Method. I had assumed it was his idea to force the tonic of the first full octave to be numbered 4 blow to fit his tabs in the book. I'm trying your tips on a lighter touch when playing to keep the maple mouthpiece from shredding my tongue. I hope it works for me. I think the German-built Hohner tremolos have a sweet sound with strong tremolo response, but I wasn't playing them much. I hope to work it back into my rotation.

      @TremoloHarmonica 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are welcome, Franklin. This Chrometta was taken apart 4 years ago for cleaning. It has not needed to be taken apart since. The most common problem with chromatics is the outside valves stick and need cleaned. (To clean just drag a piece of damp paper between the valve parts, then drag of piece of dry paper.) They are on the outside of the reed plates so you can get to them by just taking the covers off, two screws. The inside valves close when you blow, so they only get dry air drawn across them. The outside valves open when you blow, so they get warm, moist air from your breath. Before I play, I warm the harp up in my pocket so my breath does not condense in the harp. After I play, I move the slide halfway and put a toothpick in one hole to hold the slide halfway open. This allows air to all reeds. Then I let it sit out of the case for an hour to dry. I have very few problems with chromatics. You shouldn't have to take a Chrometta apart very often. I do like the Easttop better than the Chrometta and play the Easttop much more.

      @@TremoloHarmonica The East Top and the Swan both have slides with slide tracks and a removable mouth piece. Those tracks can be polished and honed to close up air leaks as well as easy removal for cleaning. Kettleworth gives a good demonstration of tuning and improving a Chromatic to a higher quality. These changes could not even be done on the Honer. As a result of your video I have just purchased a Swan SW1040 at an insane low price from Aliexpress for only $17.84 including delivery.

      Note: the Chrometta 12 I got in 2004 has screws instead of pins.

      @@MyerNore thanks. Good to know. Mine is old and made in Germany. I have been told that now they are made in China using German made reed plates.

      Its not a pin, is it? Look more closely: its a neat threaded bolt that goes into a neat threaded housing on the other side.

    Me again. I did what you said, and the harp came apart fine. I bent a couple of pins in the process, but they straightened out by pressing them in a jeweler's vice. I cleaned the valves and put it back together. The only trouble I had was that I was too inept to hold the pin, plate, clamp and nut all at the same time, so I scotch-taped the nut to the plate during re-assembly. Now she plays great, again. Thanks!

      Thanks for the update. The tape is a good idea and will help others. I had the same problem but didn't think of that.

    I've had an old Chrometta with messed-up wind savers hanging around for years, waiting for me to figure out how to get it apart without damage. Now I know what to do. Thanks.

    Thank you! This was the best no-nonsense answer after a lot of looking. I just got a C tremolo harmonica after a relative passed away, and I was ready to dismiss it as I've got a couple nice Hohner octave models, until I played it, and OMG...I had the A below C. I cannot describe the number of times I've tried to play single melodies, and found myself missing that note, great harmonization or no. And like you describe, I have to go an octave up, which doesn't sound good for all songs. So in the end this new tremolo is definitely gonna get use! You're totally right, not the best for chords, but good for melodies. It's funny that playing harmonica involves having a collection of harmonicas. Haha! Each one is a different key, and a different tool for a different job. ;)

      Hi Phil. Nice comment. Good observations. Yes, we harmonica players tend to get a collection over time!
