Hi , I'm Alan Tyrrell - I returned to shore angling during covid lockdown, following a gap of more than 30 years. Having decided to stop work in 2022 , wanted to share some of my exploits as I get back to grips with fishing - surely not much has changed ? Join a 57 year old , on his angling adventures battling with multipliers, long rods and blanking !! Hope I can bring a smile to your face. I live near Chepstow, just across the border in England

Mark Bryant. Alan
Hi , hope you're ok
Hi Alan just came across this and wanted to say although I’m not an angler I really enjoyed your video. I used to work with you it’s Mark.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it. Not sure which Mark you are !, known a few in my work time !!
Fabulous, well done. Thanks for your advice following my last comment. I fished Hive beach and west Bay. We had doggies, strap conger and plaice. I joined the national trust to avoid the parking costs.
Thanks for watching , glad you had a good Chesil session - have never fished down that end of the beach .. one day perhaps
Hi Alan, more than making up for your blanks there mate, those sessions where the fish keep coming are just diamond☺️ good variety of species too. Nothing like the drive home with a big smile on your face after a day like that. Well done buddy👊🏻👍👍
Thanks for watching Lincoln. Good sessions make the trip home a good home. See some cracking whiting at Chesil and the weather is changing, maybe a cod or two will start showing again this week.
Nice one Al buddy!
Thanks for watching guys
Dog fish rock! Some people call them Rock Salmon!! Wonderful place to fish. Pity about the litter louts; thank you for calling them out, hope they listen.Beautiful skies!
Thanks for watching Jen !
Cracking video mate 👌 love fishing ogmore deeps pitty about the rubbish some fisherman give the rest of us a bad name 👍
Thanks for watching - agree , a great venue to fish and one of my favourites
Well done for picking up the rubbish 👍 Unbelievable how people disrespect the environment 😡 Everyone who pays their council tax bill , car park fees has to pay towards cleaning up after these dirty bastards . Time the people who dumped the rubbish get the bill, £ 5,000 fine and their car crushed for littering from a vehicle would be a good start. In a rural area any litter in a 10 mtr area of you is deemed your responsibility even if it’s not yours and your duty to clean it up, failure to do so £5,000 fine car impounded until the bill is paid, £50 a day for the cost of impounding the car. Laws could be passed and the fines would pay for enforcement and it would work . Remember the car seat belt laws being passed and loads of people said they won’t make me wear them , 😄as soon as the fines started rolling out people were quick to change their minds 😄 Government should get tuff on this issue it will save us all money in the end 👍 Could be done and should be done
Thanks for watching , picking up litter isn't difficult but for some it appears it is
@@fishingatthanks for sharing your fishing adventures,🤔 can’t be easy filming and fishing.
@@shaunjones6049 Thanks, it's easy when it goes right !
Great video. Try a good quality superglue and apply it to the dongle braid loop where it attaches to the bait clip; it goes like plastic and releases better, I find on the imps
Thanks for watching and the tip , will try that
Nice busy session fella, it’s always good when the rods keep nodding. Excellent drone footage of the deeps too. Thanks for sharing bud.
Thanks for watching , glad you enjoyed the content . Beautiful coastline for flying the drone at low water
Nice one mate. All car parking charges takes the Michael bigstylo. All the best from G.Y
Thanks for watching Carl, hope all is well up in Grimsby !
£14 to park, weymouth council should be ashamed thats ridiculous
Thanks for watching , said on another post that parking is free in Pembrokeshire after Nov 1st ! and £14 is the winter rate at Ferrybridge, £20 in summer
That car park is extortion
Thanks for watching , yes must make a fortune in the Summer months when it's £20 for 24 hrs
They charge high in prices in their and their is cctv so I was told ..I avoid this section cause its a rip off ...just go a mile towards portland and park and park for nault....
Thanks for watching - Ferrybridge is very expensive , must give the masonic end a try
Nice one Al buddy!
Thanks for watching , hope you're all ok
Well done. Cracking days sport. How far is the walk from the car park. I'm having difficulty walking following surgery . My first trip for over 2 months is next week . Can't wait.
Thanks for watching - At Ferrybridge the bank of shingle is steep , especially going back . Although the walk is short , banks are steep and I find (going back especiially) best to walk diagonally up the bank . Abbotsbury is better in front of the car park as there is a wooden gangway for about 50 yrds and the bank shelves less . Also parking is cheaper . West Bexington is the easiest. Carpark at the beach, you can fish straight in front if quiet and even shallower. Cogden is a killer hill , so would avoid that if unfit - hope that helps . Travel light as well, I'm always guilty of taking too much stuff !!
Nice busy session fella. Nice to see the Bream still about and with all the smaller bait fish like Pout and Whiting I’m sure the Congers will be hunting them out. Thanks for sharing your session with us.
Thanks for watching - had in big bait in the water after dark but no takers
That was a busy day Alan, well done, shame the tech gremlins got you… I’m not surprised there were no cod around, it’s screaming out for a good SW blow, I was expecting you to pull in an eel or whiting at some point though… I fished 2 marks on the Bristol Channel Monday & blanked at both😂… take care buddy, great vid as always 👊🏻👍👍
Thanks for watching Lincoln - Made the mistake of not watching back the footage early enough !! Yes, been very settled and looks for same for a while longer. Nice to catch some bream but they'll soon be gone once that 1st SW blow comes in. Shame about the channel - I fished Clevedon (2 whiting) and Ogmore (blanked) .... Chesil keeps drawing me back . Take care, tight lines - Xmas dinner on the beach this year ?
@ Absolutely! 😊👊🏻👍👍
Great video well done on the bream & pout. I was the bloke that caught the conga 👍 just over 20lb
Thanks for watching - great conger , well done.
people should not have to pay for parking anyway ,its a big con .
Thanks for watching - was in Pembrokeshire in the week and it's free parking after Nov 1st . Shame (as you say) it's not country wide
Good session with frozen bait. I have same experience in Abodsbury car park. If you can't type your reg nb properly leave the car park and try again. Otherwise £60 penalty or £20 if apeall inevitable
Thanks for watching , hopefully just get caught the once but as we get older !!!
Myself and Fish Disco had a conversation about GoPro's last week, we both use old phones for video recording, they work well. Great bit of fishing there, well done.
Thanks for watching - most of the time it's user error with my go pro , except the batteries which are rubbish : I have a power pack permanently plugged into my go pro now . I'll have a look at your West Bex video at the weekend
@@fishingat Glad you got it sorted. I hope you enjoy my video. Best wishes!
Nice one Ian ,i had the same 3 weeks ago,,ref parking misses gave me 10 coin for a 10 pound note,,put my reg in all coins excepted,i know because I only had 2 left in my hand,,,all buttons pressed and out came a ticket, for 7 pound not 8,,so had to pay again so 15 quid for 24hrs,
Thanks for watching - expensive business parking !!
well done mate , gopro are a pain in the rear . good to see you back out chap good session that
Thanks for watching Tony - Sometimes, feel like casting my GoPro out and cracking it off !!
@fishingat yeah i know what you mean mate
Horrible feeling, always happens when you’ve just put together the best looking bait ever… 👍👍
Thanks Lincoln , best looking baits caught nothing !!!
@@fishingat 🙈where were you?…the deeps?
Shit happens😂
Thanks and I blanked as well
Nightmare when it happens
Thanks, fortunately not to often !
😂 love it!
Thanks !
Sorry mate but to say that was 200yards easy is laughable it was more like 60-70 max do you actually know how far 200yard is😂
Thanks for watching , perhaps 200 ft then !
Really good session-good to see. I couldn't see but it looked as if your pulley rig was just the single main hook-was that what you were using?
Thanks for watching - yes , just using the one hook for the small (ish) baits on the pulley rig.
Enjoyed this one, might give that spot a go with my son. 👍
Thanks for watching - There's been a cliff fall above the beach at the start of the path from Bay Road, Clevedon , so bear that in mind for access. Work has started on repairs but there may be a path diversion in place
@@fishingat, yes, I have seen that, it's fairly minor in the scheme of things, compared to fishing on the slippery rocks, but health and safety prevails. I don't think it has any real effect on the spot you were at, except that the access to the beach for the locals is being managed while they build new metal ski resort style steps (they've put some of it in place at the bottom).
Great video, so many similarities to my last video except the Cod. See you on the beaches!
Hi, thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it. Good luck with your channel, I'll try and watch some of your stuff
Nice video
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it
Great video and the fish pie was delicious! Beautiful sky.
Thanks mum in law - might help you sleep !!!
Nice one Al buddy!
Thanks guys, hope you're all doing ok and thanks for watching
Eazy al are you ok pal, well done on your session. Especially teasing uz with the codling lol. They just starting to show there faces now up are way on the humber. I was out again yesterday n managed a whiting, flounders n a dab . But the dab was manky as he'll. Its fins were all tatty n on the topside covered in a horrible green stuff on skin. I've seen them on the norflok coast who I watch on the old tube. But that's the first one I've came access. I had dabs last week n they was top quality. It don't look good any way chief what there eating or living. I call them radioactive dabs now lol. All the best from GRIMSBY
Thanks for watching Carl - used to catch dabs regularly in West Wales when I was growing up, but can't say when I last caught one ... certainly not in the last 4 yrs !! Hope the cod season is a good one up North
Very Nice video. This just goes to show if you don’t get the weather window then it’s pretty pointless. The fish just are not there and it’s wast of time and money with clogged roads, rammed car parks and horrendous charges. Sadly Shore angling in this country is in dire straights.
Thanks for watching and yes, we all have to play our part to conserve what we've got left !
Good stuff looked like a perfectly timed trip . From my experience it seems like that is over half the battle for anyone travelling fairly big distance travel to fish Chesil. Looking out the window on our flight back from the Med yesterday the sea around sizewell was a nice chocolate colour for a few hundred yards out . Currently dropping hints and seeking approval for next four day Chesil trip 🤞🏻
Thanks for watching. Yes, having to drive 2-3 hrs to get there each way , focuses the mind to plan - I'm lucky , not working anymore I can essentially go when I want but try to avoid the weekend crowds. It must be tough planning a trip and the weather not obliging. I made a fish pie with the cod / pout , so my better half was well pleased that I'd been !! Tight lines
Hi Alan, good to see you back mate, I bet that kept you fit running up and down the bank with all of those fish! Well done buddy👊🏻 nice to see you getting lots of action. I was down Ferrybridge the following morning on a very short 3 hour session before work, couldn’t fish on my days off as had to fix the car. Just 2 eels, one was probably not far off a double, one dog and a pout, no cod so I think you picked the right day😊 I was going to go to Abbotsbury but changed my mind last minute due to the road closure as wasn’t sure where it would be shut so thanks for the heads up. Great vid as always, take care 👍👍
Hi Lincoln, thanks for watching. The diversion took me back towards Weymouth (from portesham) and then down a track , eventually ending up by the Swannery : bit of a mare in the van !! The walk back did me in - over 50 mins and I'm relatively fit. I was glad the fishing action had calmed down a bit after dark and I only fished 2 rods. One day I'll get a decent conger (I hope) that's why we go back !! Hopefully down again soon but weather looks a bit iffy for next week
Well done Alan a nice mixed bag so can't be bad 😊
@@adrianbryant7342 Thanks for watching , hope you enjoyed the content
I really enjoyed your video. A fantastic days angling. Well done and thank you.
Thanks for watching and the kind feedback. Glad you enjoyed it.
We hit it a week before, Abbotsbury was rammed and not one fish landed, wind was gusting 35mph SSW. You hit it just right. Blanked at Ferrybridge too. Well done you.
Thanks for watching , shame you blanked, happens to us all. It's always hard to gauge what is a fishable wind at Chesil , typically for me I use the wind guru app which allows you not only to check wind direction but wave height as well . Anything over 1.5 M , I'm generally staying home (for chesil)
Codling
Indeed , indeed , indeed - thanks for watching. Quick search showed they are mature at 50 cm .. so the one kept was perhaps a cod !!
Nice to see you catch a few fish. Looked a lovely day for it and cracking conditions. I was down the following day and had a feeling I 'should have been there yesterday'!! 😀
Thanks for watching - I thought the Weds would have been the better day but that's how it goes . Right place / right time which is rare for me !!
