The WSU Extension Master Gardener program trains volunteers to be effective community educators in gardening and environmental stewardship. Master Gardeners provide information generated from research at WSU and other university systems. We provide outreach to the public via community workshops and events on a variety of gardening, landscaping, and environmental topics. And responding to over 900 client inquiries each year, we staff clinic answering the public's in-person, phone, and email inquiries on a variety of garden and landscape concerns.

My myer lemon tree survived 4 years out in the ground in western Washington then a mouse or rabbit ate the bark off the bottom and it died
I have grafted cocktail grapefruit to both Yuzu and Meyer lemon trees here in Vancouver BC.
Awesome channel, nice for us beginners on gardening...
I am not able to prune my blueberries until early May. Is there a solution I could put on pruning cut to slow or stop oozing?
I'm sad you didn't talk about growing in containers or give an organic option for fertilizer.
I recently ordered a couple of the Flying Dragon hardy citrus, I can't wait until they get here and I'm really excited to give them a try!
Which state is Clark County ?
As a landscaper, I wouldn't recommend landscaping fabric in any situation. It doesn't work and once plants start to push through it it only gets worse. One of the worst parts of my job is tearing that stuff out. It's plastic, it's a mennace. The best way not to have a weedy path is to use stone. The best way not to have a weedy garden is to have so many mature native plants that nothing else can edge itself into the system.
I'm kind of discouraged that a lot of the host plants for the Western Tiger Swallowtail are water-loving species like willows and cottonwood, I am trying out Scouler's willow because I think we really do need some type of willow in our future, for the sake of insects. That was the only one I could find in my research that people say can survive more upland or drier conditions.
Thank you for the very understandable and informative class! I learned a lot!
Actually how tall should you let your bushes grow?
Do you know where one could even get some Kincaid's lupine (responsibly)? Do any nurseries sell it?
There’s a boatload on top of Excelsior Pass in Whatcom county. Get yourself a permit and get some seeds…. It’s a devastating Hike though. 😜
@@dispmonkThank you, do you know -- how does one get a permit to collect seeds?
Here in New Hampshire the high bush grow wild. Each bush varied. Witches broom is going around now.
This was great thanks
Maybe ultraviolet light shortens an it stops growing?
Garden cats! 😂😂😂😂 they deter birds!
thank you....went out while listening n checked my blues ...
Can you or should you mow everbearing varieties in between their flushes?
This was really encouraging, thank you! I’ve planted a ton of citrus in Portland this spring and I’m crossing my fingers for their first winter
It's been 2 years, so I'm wondering if you had much luck? I'm planting 2 Wase varieties of Mandarin against the south side of my house here in Boring. I plan to do a temporary greenhouse over them over winter, like suggested.
you all are awesome. just came home with 3 small plants. thanks
blueberries grow great in containers, even Northern highbush, I have massive Northern highbush plants in containers myself and the ground.
Watching from South Africa 🇿🇦 thank you for this information 🙏
Excellent.
Greetings from Arizona growing zone 9b Just watched your video, thank you for the tips and tricks. We use them in our front and backyards with great success. we love being a subscriber. you have a lot of great videos, and we look forward to seeing your new content come out! Cheers.
Good, very usable information. I have found (accidently) that when catnip is allowed to grow around my field/yard the jays, robins and especially the starlings, quit coming around (but see more Chickadees and Towhees)
Greetings from Arizona zone 9b, we just installed all kinds of drip irrigation around our backyard Orchard, Garden and Vineyard! Thanks for the tips and tricks, we appreciate you!
We have a 84 acres homestead in Ontario canada 🇨🇦. To share if we find the right family
Awesome channel. I have been a master gardener for 35 years
So informative! Helps a lot!
what kind of netting can I use to protect my berries. I have used just about every type and those catbirds peck holes in every type of netting. squirrels chew holes. I don't know of any netting that will stop them.
Why my strawberry fruit is very little all the time although they turn ripe but very small doesn't grow big fruit
watching here friend
Is very good information what u guys putting up there but what about soil. I know blueberries need acidic soils. Where I live there not acidic soils. What is the type os soil . I have a good clay soil with sulphur that am preparing from now so I can transplant in fall or spring. What else u consider I need to amend my clay soil. Or what is another mix that I can used
Plant in large pots/containers, it makes life a lot easier, unless you have great acidic soil and land etc. The mix I use is 40% peat moss, 40% ericaceous compost and 20% pine bark mulch all mixed together, all acidic, makes for a good airy well draining roughly 4.5-5.5 PH mix, the plants love it and I water with a blueberry fertilizer a few times a year.
I took some cuttings from Rabbiteyes and they successfully took but after a year in a pot I have one central 'trunk' as it were with quite a few canes branching up from the one central point. There are no other canes coming up from the crown. Should I remove all but three or so of the current canes and cut those back by half? Will this force the bush to push new canes from the roots under the soil and thus widen the crown? The plants are still in felt pots approx 12" round by 12" deep. I’m going to put them in 21 Gal pots this winter. The new pots are 22 in dia by 17 in deep
It might take a few years to send up new shoots, don't prune anything for a few years, apart from dead wood.
And your new 22" pots will be good enough for a fully grown plant, a lot of room there.
I never mow my June berry plants and they give me great fruit every year.
very in-depth good knowledge transfer . it helps buddy sounds like Penn of Penn and teller . lol bet you get that all the time .
Really good, thank you
Would it be possible to get a file of your slides for printing and adding to my personal garden workbook? We have several newly potted blueberry bushes and want to take good care of them. Thank you for such a wonderful educational video!
Thanks for sharing ☺️
No, I don't know what a water sprout is. This part of the video is not the best. I will have to look elsewhere.
Blueberries are very goob
I have a mix ofMason and leaf cutter bees in my boxers
North Carolina has a couple good ones. Both are by Bill Kline. Great visual aids & precise in verbal instruction.
Every time we find a variety that is less picky about the soil Ph .It seems that people controlling things makes it not allowed to several states. Why is this.? My guess is large producers are able to lobby for these rules. There is one called Vera , But then try to order some for my garden they say they can not send to my state. But that is ok because I have a friend the next state over that will order them for me.
You got a great name. My grandfather, mine is Jonathan Moore. Science is 👍, but I don't think we have a solid understanding of what it means any longer.
Thank you all so much I am from Michigan, and the video helps tremendously.
Nice!! Find out the secret > P R O M O S M!!
I am here in Pennsylvania and called about Asian Jumping Worm control and eradication my county extension office several numbers and different times and never got an answer from anyone there ever. Maybe they all have bat flu since that seems to be the standard answer these days. Experts are not experts.
Thank you for this! I missed the live version but this was very helpful!
