Ravens fan. I was always envious of the Steelers' ability to draft great D players AND great WRs. The Ravens were great at LBs and TEs, but very weak with WRs. The way I see the Steelers now is this: You're still figuring out just how much Ben meant to the team. A team CAN win with big D and a ground and pound run game. But you need exceptional personnel and good coaching to bring it all together. The Ravens coaching staff blows, but at least Monken > Roman, and they FINALLY got Lamar some legit weapons, both at the RB position AND at the WR position. The beauty is that when it all comes together, it's the best plan for cold weather play. The question is: Will the Steelers brain trust get back on track with drafting the top players that they used to draft? Also, have they just lost the hunger and just want a pay day?

The guy hit on the head, total and complete mismanagement. Oh, now they don't have a quarterback. What was wrong with Ben? Why did they force Ben out? Ben didn't want to go, he wasn't ready to retire, his stats were fine. WTH? They got themselves all worked up into some kind of frenzy and decided to get rid of Ben. It's all moot anyway until they replace Tomlin. This team quit on him at the end of the season whether anyone wants to admit it or not, he's done in Pittsburgh.

I suspect Big Ben would have raised hell if they drafted Lamar! And I think Ben is the best quarterback to wear a Steelers uniform in the last 50 years!!! Maybe some other people have seen Johnny United in a Steeler uniform, but that was before my time. Look at how 7 treated Mason! He would’ve seen Lamar as such a threat. I don’t think he could stand it. Plus like a lot of these other comments here , I don’t think the Steelers coaches know how to develop players. I think the players are left to their own devices.

Fields is a high upside backup like Mason Rudolph. I seriously doubt they role into 2025 with him as the starter.

The reason why the Steelers passed on a higher rated quarterback is that they didn't want to upset Ben. Especially a first round pick.

No matter how much people talk, prognosticate, guess and scheme… The Steelers will put the SAME exact 10-7 type of team on the field next year. If they make the playoffs the result will be the same. We have 6 Lombardi’s and it appears the new Rooney ownership is just fine with 6. They are riding AND dying with him. No changes until he wants to leave. No matter how much Mike says about changes. His entire system won’t change. Coaches may change and support people will change-but when Tomlin sets the vision for the team and boundaries on what he will let coordinators do, and the players….. we’re in for a lot more seasons like the last 18.

Mason would have worked out just fine at QB had he gotten the support and development he needed from the coaching staff. Ben didn't like him from the start but should have realized that his career was nearing the finish line and he could have helped to prepare Mason for the backup role and his eventual replacement as QB-1.

The last four drafts of Colbert were horrible. At least we seem to have had 2 good ones under Kahn.

You can’t convince me that the Steelers could have turned Lamar Jackson into what he is today. Baltimore changed their offensive philosophy, went thru multiple OCs, and had a vision beyond the next game. Nothing that has happened in recent history suggests they would have done any of those things.

Bob is good, but tight with Tomlin, so i will take with a grain of salt.
