Tomlin is way too stubborn to change. It is his downfall.. he's got to go...

Ravens fan. I was always envious of the Steelers' ability to draft great D players AND great WRs. The Ravens were great at LBs and TEs, but very weak with WRs. The way I see the Steelers now is this: You're still figuring out just how much Ben meant to the team. A team CAN win with big D and a ground and pound run game. But you need exceptional personnel and good coaching to bring it all together.
The Ravens coaching staff blows, but at least Monken > Roman, and they FINALLY got Lamar some legit weapons, both at the RB position AND at the WR position. The beauty is that when it all comes together, it's the best plan for cold weather play. The question is: Will the Steelers brain trust get back on track with drafting the top players that they used to draft? Also, have they just lost the hunger and just want a pay day?

Defenses stepped up and won 3 of the last 6 Super Bowls.

The reason they can't win in the postseason is that Tomlin coaches "not to lose" and then rely on a couple big plays to edge out the other team. We are always screwed if those big plays never happen. I would rather move on from Mike Tomlin and have an entertaining 6-11 season with a coach who is coaching to win than go 9-8 with the same product we've been seeing. Weirdly enough my favorite season to watch since the Killer B era ended was 2019 because there were no expectations and every positive sign was a pleasant surprise.

I agree with this standpoint. But I also don't place it all squarely on Coach T. The Steelers have a montra and it's defense. I almost feel that the organization as a whole is afraid to make that change as it would tarnish the brand that we have built. It's almost like what has happened to the NBA and every team has C to PGs all taking 3s. Maybe it's the Steelers saying f u to the league and not wanting to give in to the 30 points a game model. But unfortunately, that's how teams are winning now. Baltimore this year had the following total yards in each game: 452,383,456,427,520,484,508,387,396,389,329,389,372,445,428,432,437, and 464 against the Steelers in the playoff game. They have been doing this all freaking year to every defense playing well, KC, Buff, Dallas, Den, and even Philly. In today's NFL, you need to be able to shoot the 3 ball.

I agree Spurs started the revolution but Kerr really embraced the 3. Then in the nfl Shanahan had the west coast offense then McVay just really pressed the play of trying to score every play. I feel like the difference is the traditional thinking is expecting the defense to cover the top so let’s try to work underneath vs the modern nfl is consistently trying to break out by using the underneath stuff and is fine settling to move the sticks.
Steelers are shooting contested mids lol 😅

    Of the same excuses
    The defense is too tired
The most expensive Defense getting tired is a excuse

I would fire Tomlin, Get rid of Russell Wilson and Justin Fields and trade TJ Watt for two first round draft picks and draft a quarterback this upcoming year.

Only problem is that this QB draft class kinda sucks. Cam Ward looks good but we wont be able to trade up from 21 to the top 3. Shedeur is just another Kenny Pickett.
Unfortunately the best course is to give Justin Fields a cheap contract and roll with him for a year. I don't believe he's good, but he is better than the incoming rookies. Unfortunately, that's wasting yet another year of talent on this defense and offense. Still next year's draft class looks significantly better

No team will give 2 first round picks for a 30 year old edge rusher. I wish they would.

of course you can win with defense. see Kansas City last year. They put up 17 points on the Ravens and 19 points in regulation against the 49ers. Key difference: the Chiefs have a defensive genius in Spags while our DCs have been "promote from withins" who have been unproven or unknown (Keith Butler) and/or have a bad track record (Teryl Austin).
if somoene wants to argue that Butler and Austin haven't been the actual DC and that Tomlin has been the de facto DC since LeBeau's departure, then Tomlin needs to relinquish control. Go hire a legit DC like Ron Rivera and give that guy defensive autonomy to run the system he seems fit. I still think Tomlin can win as HC, but not as HC/DC.

Now wait a minute. You CAN win with that kind of football. You CAN still punish people across the middle. You just have to do it the right way. He wants to run the ball and control the clock with subpar coaching. CT surrounds himself with terrible assistants, especially on the offensive side of the ball. No one moves on from the Steelers and gets a better job. Players carry these coaches and it shows, because when they face superior coaching they roll over. Every NFL is FILLED with talent. All of them. Yeah, some say so and so is bad and blah blah blah.... but they are still NFL talent and its everywhere on every team. It's just getting them coached up and doing something they love the right way.

I get that Tomlin is a scapegoat and an easy target, but the problem with the Steelers is bigger than who the head coach is. The Steelers are simply not talented enough on offense to win against the upper echelon teams of the AFC. They do not have a quarterback who is good enough and until that changes nothing else will.

Tomlin did nothing when he had one of the best offenses with Ben, ab and bell. He's not good
