Hi May, Thank you for sharing your comment and question. The Bible tells us that all of us have sinned and come short of God's glory (see Romans 3:23). It also tells us that our hearts are deceitful and desperately wicked (see Jeremiah 17:9). But God made a way for our hearts to be made good and clean with the righteousness of Christ. That's how much God loves us and wants us to have fellowship with Him (see John 3:16). Because of the badness of our hearts, we all deserve to be separated from God for all eternity (see Romans 6:23). But God loved us while we were in our place of badness (see Romans 5:8), God showed us His great love by sending His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for us to take the penalty for our sins, and to also make our hearts clean. It is a gift that cannot be earned but it can be received by faith (see Romans 5:18 and Titus 3:5). We just need to come to Him and tell Him our need for Him and confess and repent from our sins and badness (see 1 John 1:9). Then we believe in our hearts and confess (or say) with our mouths that, yes, we believe what Jesus did for us by His death, burial, and resurrection (see Romans 10:9-13). See, the most beautiful part of this is that Jesus did not stay dead. He rose from the dead on the third day after His death on the cross. This is called the resurrection. Through His resurrection, He defeated sin and death and made a way for our hearts to be made good. We just believe in Him and call on His name and the Bible says we will be saved! Saved from what? Saved from our sins and the penalty they deserve and saved from being separated from God (see Romans 10:13 and Acts 2:21). Making this step of faith in Jesus Christ is the first step in becoming a follower of Christ. If you make this step, I would love to hear about it.
