I bought an exact pair of those Koren made ones before I knew how to spot the originals ($10 on Poshmark), they're not bad- better than the Rothcos I had before. As far as I know the ways to tell the authentic from the repops: the leather strip that holds the laces is one piece down to the sole on the real ones at the "V", it's 2 pieces on the repops. Also, the sole markings almost always say RO Search, Genesco, CIC, Bata, JE Diamond on the real ones. Repops rarely say RO Search, but some of the well-made repops do have it. The 1" heel stitch is on the late 60's real boots, no stitch on repops on the heel. The ankle straps are closer to the back on the real boots, creating more of a "square" on the sides while the repops' strap is further up, creating more of a rectangle. You can still find new late '60's real ones at some online surplus stores in narrow sizes, and they aren't bad if you use a stretcher or big shoe tree in them. A slim foam insole instead of the mesh insole adds a tad more room as well.
Those Korean import Jungles have polyester webbing for the ankle supports and the cuff edge and tongue binding. GI will have Mil-W-17337 spec nylon for the ankle supports and cuff edge then Mil-W-5038 nylon binding on the tongue. Those Korean import Jungles were sold in OD and a funky camo pattern for $25/pair during the 1980s.
I have some vietnam boots but I don't know any Info on them they have camo on them instead of green. I heard us SF used them and customised their boots but don't onow if its true
