I had to first connect my controller to my ps5. Then it gave the a prompt to update controller’s software. Then it worked

It's actually very simple to do but you have to follow some stuff: your USB needs to be formatted to ex-FAT or FAT-32. Then, you need to add a folder to the root of the USB, if you don't, PS4 or PS5 won't recognize anything. Then it should work. PS4 and PS5 both support mkv, mp4 and webm formats but they say they won't play copyrighted videos which is crazy. So maybe if you got your movie from a torrent or something, it will know and wont play it. Also, max res is 4K, don't try a bigger res, it won't work.

Same thing happened to me. For me, I has the ps5 controller already connected to Bluetooth on my pc. So, I turned my pc Bluetooth off, and made sure my iphone was updated. I tried connecting a few more times (did not work at first), but then it connected! Hope this helps someone! gg
