I was looking for a great sounding low pass filter. Like in an oldschool analogue way. Warm and cut well through a mix. Not 100s of features, just pure sound. Your demo convinced me to get Z2040. Thank you, a really good review (without "sponsored by", just showing the audio). It's one of the modules which stays in my rack for sure.

Wondering what you think of the Bubblesounds LP40- similar SSI2140 chip architecture with attenuated cv over both freq and rez.
I haven't tried LP40, but I've tried other filters based on 2140 filter chip, the sound is quite different. I love filters in general and I would say more than half of the filters I've owned I've kept, only a few were really underwhelming. Z2040 is the filter I use the most.
Interesting. I do like the idea of attenuator on the Rez for the LP40 though. And love the 4hp size. Also just curious about your thoughts on the TTA Forbidden Planet and how it compares to the z2040. My main thing is finding a filter that can push the resonance without becoming annoying and just harsh squeal. I am trying to find something that remains useable and pleasant throughout the entire range. Most just end up squealing in an irritating way

Pamela is a good module, user interface not so much, timing precision is nowhere near acceptable. in the world where Beatstep Pro is considered good, Pamela is definitely a good choice for many people, not for me though.

I agree at all, tiptop way0ut8 patchbay really make it easy patching to the mix. In my case I send the eurorack audio and sends to the mix with ableton live, as well as to receive returns and CV from my hybrid setup. As a matter of fact I send the wayout8 to my PX3000 patchbay. No need to move or reconnect cables anymore.

Cool! It sounds amazing ... shame I've no room for it! When I made my own version of the 296t in Reaktor 6, I came across this vocal effect by accident, modulating the different frequencies with different LFOs (in this vid about 3mins in, but not sure how replicable it is - I couldn't test it against a real one!): th-cam.com/video/UuaA1TrBPOw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=h6DMsZRjwlYXhejF&t=185
God, this thing takes modulation EXTREMELY well. I'm conflicted; on the one hand, thes (and ro many other great simple filters in the same HP-category) sounds incredible. But on the other hand, we are so spoiled for choice with great filters even smaller-some in stereo even!-but at this pricepoint... I don't know what else would fairly count as competitive all things considered for dedicated LP/BP real-estate on my first small rack of ~74hp where every bit counts! (although my case would have a 1U row, as well)
Might consider the 4hp Bubblesounds LP40
i got one for $360 a few years ago. it was my first sequencer. i love it. I like that its just a Light Bright toy circuit bent into a DAW. I started with circadian rhythms, a ornament and crime, Plaits and a Behringer neutron and a clouds.
