    The Stewarts are very famous clan. The Stewart King James VI inherited the thrones of not only Scotland but also England, Wales and the then Ireland. James VI of Scotland was also King James I of the United Kingdom when he united the Crowns of 2 Kingdoms. We have a Scottish Crown in Edinburgh and our current Royal Family is our King as of right in Scotland. King James VI inherited the Throne of Scotland, from his mother Mary Queen of Scots and also the Throne of England & Wales and the then Ireland (he inherited this from the English Elizabeth I). I believe the Stewarts are the most famous Clan. The Bruce comes second. The Campbells were also famous.

    Kilravock Castle in Nairn, is the Ancestral home of the Rose clan. We can trace the Roses back to 9th Century Scotland. It was a Steward who came over to Scotland and his name was De Ros. We have a Sutherland clan gathering ever 3 years in Caithness.

  • @francescarose1453
    @francescarose1453 7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    The Rose and the Sutherland Clans, did not participate in Culloden. They were apparently peaceful Clans, at that time. Although the Duke of Sutherland, who was responsible for the Highland Clearances in the far North West of Scotland. People still speak badly of the Duke to this day.

    Sadly the Ancestral home of my Clan - the Rose, is no longer held by the Chieftan. My mother was a Sutherland but I believe that the Sutherland Chieftan is in ownership of the Ancestral Home. eg Dunrobin castle.

    My mother was the last surviving member of a branch of the Leslie Clan. They go back to before the Declaration of Arbroath, to 1214, & From all accounts Bartholf , a Hungarian baron, was given lands in Aberdeenshire ,as a reward for deeds I battle. But because his surname was so'double barreled he abbreviated it to Leslie.Anywayz - I would love to see either Ballinbreich Castle, Rothes Castle ,Moray, or Leslie- on- Leve, Fife. &will be watching future episodes .. Thankyou for All your enthusiasm. By the way the Scots migrated from ancient Scythia via the Caucasis ,& were the descendants of the Israelite Tribe off Simeon,, Who helped Parthia win three battles against the Roman's.!Steven Collins/ parthia).

    King James IV probably would not be very happy to find out that Fordell Castle in Fife, is no longer in possession of Clan Henderson or any of the ancestors of James Henderson 1st of Fordell, who died next to King James IV at the Battle of Flodden Hill. Times change things happen, and oh well is all i can say. Love the history behind all the Castles, thank you!

The Black Douglass's a Powerful Family that the English hated with a passion. Douglass Clan lost their chief and was not given another in which I wish would happen. They had many castles a Stronghold Clan one of the most feared. Now the Hamiltons Act as Chief to Douglass clan.. My direct Ancestor Douglass. The Good Sir James There's always been a fight over the original spelling for the Black Douglass Clan was spelled with two S's Changed from the Red to Black Douglass. So there was A Divide.. My mom's maiden name is McMillan. I have traced our ancestors back to the 1720s in North Carolina and into the late 1600s in Ireland. Some immigrated later. The later ones were Javobites. They immigrated to the Carolinas as part of the Scots/Irish post war of the 3 kingdoms. We were some of the original rednecks since that term comes from jacobite supporters wearing red scarves or pieces of cloth around their necks.
