Your pants are lying to you!
Link to our sizing page and video
utkilts.com/pages/size-chart
You always want to be sure to measure yourself before ordering a kilt. As we show in this video, pants are always labeled around 2-4 inches smaller than what they actually measure. Any place that does not require you to measure or does not give you detailed instructions on how to measure is probably a place you do not want to order from. At UTKilts we have a detailed size chart page with a great video that will help you measure so you get the perfect fit on your next kilt.

Utility Kilt Side Buckles and Straps - What are they for? - UT Kilts

So, what are the side buckles really for? They really are there just to tighten up the hip / butt area for those that need it. Do not get these confused with traditional kilt straps and buckles. This is probably the best looking fly plaid with no stitching or pleat in the corner I've seen, in fact I think I might like it a bit better. And with no stitching it can always be used as a wrap or shawl and then a fly plaid again whenever needed. I wonder how long the fringe is on these particular FP's.

    Are the finger spacings the same between the original and large bore? I read these were updated in 2021. In another review prior to 2021 it was discussed that the high A hole needs to be left half covered? Is this something that was addressed in the 2021 design update? Thanks

      Yes, the spacings are the same so that they match up with a regular chanter. I would highly recommend not going off 'reviews' for your information. Thank you for the reply and confirmation on the hole spacing. This is the review I referred to. At 1:47 he discusses the fingering card that came with his whistle. The card from Carbony states the high A hole is to be half covered. This review is from 2019 so I was curious if this was addressed in the “redesign“ that Carbony made in 2021 as stated on their website. m.th-cam.com/video/LRBToV9YirM/w-d-xo.html

I can tell you, I recently ordered a pair of jodhpur riding pants and put in my regular standard pants size in the order that I normally look for when pants shopping in a store or buying on line..... Nope... No where NEAR the correct measurements... Luckily the merchant was understanding and took them back, made a new pair to my correct size and only charged me materials & shipping. Whenever you order anything custom made, invest in a tailor's tape and get ACCURATE measurements that are required to get the garment to fit right and look good on you.

I didn't want to copy your kilts and sell them or anything. I was genuinely looking for info on how utkilts are made so that I could incorporate that knowledge into my own bespoke kilts I'm making FOR MYSELF. Oh well. I was misled. Nice kilts.

      I did not meant to mislead you. I have acctually thought about taking this video down as i did it many years ago, and most coming to the video are like you, trying to make their own. Sorry again for any problems I caused.

    Belt does not go through the loops the loops are for the chain the buckle of the purse you wear in front it's to stop the purse falling down

    • @utkiltsbrice
      @utkiltsbrice 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is acctually for both. The purse you are referring to is the sporran, and the belt loops are made over 3 inches wide to accomdate: 2.25" belt and the .5 inch chain belt from the sporran. They would not make those loops that big to fit only the sporran.

    Yeah, you are not going to get a 8 yard wool kilt for $150.00 American.

    • @utkiltsbrice
      @utkiltsbrice 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Quick clarification. You are not going to get a worsted wool, woven and made in Scotland wool kilt, 8 yards, for $150. However, it is possible to find woolen wool kilts that we sell for that price. Though the wool is much different.

    Hey brother, I have been watching your TH-cam channel and I'm going to be getting a utility kilt or 3 from you... What's the difference between the ultimate, and the athlete? I want the slash pockets but not all the other ones hanging all over the place. Thanks for your help! Love your videos!

    I think I'm doing the belt right but not totally sure. It doesn't cinch down without slipping... Is there a tutorial?

    Great video. But hate the premium wool kilt. Horrible quality. I bought two and gave away. Maybe it was the type of wool. Not sure. Made in Scotland is the way to go. I have had no issue with another company. Considering trying UT Kilts again but, just not sure.

      They use tartan woven in Pakistan, it’s never going to be as good as tartan woven in Scotland.

    I just got my UT Kilt yesterday. There are only a couple of things that I fell in love with instantly; one is my wife, then pepperoni pizza, then my Harley. I can now add the UT Kilt (black Wilderness). It feels wonderful! So, today I went and ordered the MacKay kilt pin and the belt you advertise in this video. If the pin, belt, and buckle are of really good quality as the kilt, I am now a fan of UT Kilts.

    This is a very good and honest comparison. Unsurprisingly, the Scottish-made kilt is a nicer kilt. For the price difference, I expect it to be. However, if you wear kilts a lot (as I do), it's not practical for most of us to put a lot of "miles" on a kilt that expensive. TBH, it would take an expert eye to notice the differences when they're both being worn. I'm glad there is a range of kilts available to fit various styles and budgets. When I first started wearing kilts, there were no budget-friendly options available, so I only broke out my (one) kilt on very special occasions.

      I completely agree! I am in the same situation. Wearing a kilt everyday, I need something that is inexpensive but will last.
