Wonderful demonstration. I read on Will Davis’ blog that this machine had a fixed travel distance for the comma and period typebars, so that they would not puncture paper or hurt the platen-did you find this to be the case? The design and engineering of this machine are rather fascinating. Thanks for posting.
This is the case. The platen is very hard but the page is not puncture whilst with unresisted strike action that would definitely be the case. I enjoy these machines trrmendously!
