Damn your dad even let you come to the realization the chain was a bit wonky. Great teacher and skillful as well!
is it still running?
awesome, as an e39 driver the e46 models have a special place in my heart as well :D awesome work, must be fun driving this thing! Is there any progress on the ducati? I'm asking because I drive a 2014 monster 696 myself and I'm interested in the progress so far lol
That Ducati was finished and sold. Moved on to cars. Seems like people really liked the motorcycle content. Maybe I should go back to it !
18:31 idiots @work.
Very cool! Just picked up a 2014 xr650l for 850, low compression and oil coming from exhaust, and I'm about to start taking it apart and checking it out
Funny
Amazing, great Job!!!!!
Thank u :)
Great Videos thanx ! I just got a 2014 796 & I don’t see any videos. How long from engine in to engine out, rebuild & engine install ? You made it look easy ! How much to work on my bike ?
HI, hi, after a slip, I can no longer start, what could it be? I can send you a video ?
All bikes have inertia switches. I don’t recall the placement on these bikes but some research will show you what you need to
But doesn’t the hood do enough 🧐🧐🧐
These cars have the cowl vents on the hood that generally leak a little.
Why silicone not a gasket?
f the haters. ride it and enjoy it
2:50 nice 🍆
I love that car
Recover crankshaft with nitriding and good ?
Bro ur video was frign awesome raw and real, very rare in this world dude ur frign awesome mechanical mind is crazy especially working on a ducati lol great video bro God bless u
the discoloration on crank is normal. they heat the crank to assemble it. piston and cylinder look great
I did some research and that’s what I found out so I sent it and built it !
@@thachileandude to bad you sold it, i have a 1985 XL600R with 27000. miles it runs great gets 48 mpg. main thing is keep up on maintainence .
Nice video and bikes 👌🏻 th-cam.com/users/shorts_wBzG-AvCk4?feature=share
Anyway i can get in touch?
dm me on instagram @ THACHILEANDUDE
Im getting ready to dive into this task on my 2001. Thanks for posting this up. I got the spring compressor tool, but I dont want to buy the seal driver. Freaking thing is $60. I may just try the old pvc pipe halves and screwdriver trick.
🙂 Work with what you have great attitude and appreciate all the work you have done. Stuff learned I can do my 696 . Thxs
I bought the same model I think 99% that I have blasted the valves if you are in Dallas let me know so we can agree on the price to repair it
your washer at spring was upside down
Hi bro super cool video, I just got a 2008 696 here in Australia and going to do works on it thanks to you. BTW do you know where can I download a pdf of the workshop manual?
man i couldn't find anything other than info in forums.
good video. what size sockets did you use on the clutch basket and crank/cam chain sprocket bolts? 27mm and 29?
What's that stand you're using called? I need one
Motorcycle stand 👍🏼👍🏼 buy it for your bike tho
@@thachileandude it doesn't have a specific name? cause I've seen the ones that lift the front but from the axle and I obviously can't use those cause im taking the axlen off.
Great work 💪. Nice to see a father son bonding over an engine build
does it still run good now i remember watching this video when it came out wondering how long it would last
we have it in storage since we moved :(
That is a sad case, your brave for taking this on. These bikes were made as disposable crap by the factory.. to drop the Moto, both frames have to be unbolted as well as the swingarm ugh!
thankfully i figured it out and replaced the casing!!
I wish I was knowledgeable about working on r1 engine. Where are you located, what state?..
houston TX
How are you getting these amazing deals on the 696. I’m in the Uk and I’m buying the cheapest one on the market but it is in perfect condition with 9k miles but it’s like 5k dollars 😅
Hello GSG, How did the rebuild go? About how many miles were on the engine when the trouble occurred with the prior owner?
15k miles when it blew up. I put around 500 hard miles on it before selling it. I loved my experience with the xr650L. Very fun powerful bike!!
@@thachileandude . Thank You for following up with me ! Stay safe !
I have an 08 696 and it's such a joy on twisty UK country roads. Watching this was great in helping me get to know the bike! Loved seeing the bare bones, especially as will attempt my first service today. Really impressed at your diagnostic skills! My only itch is the replacement indicators. Whilst brilliant and brighter than stock, my worry is they are too close together and will confuse some other idiot road users 🤔. Thanks for uploading this!
whoever was riding this bike is not a good rider, look at the sides of the back tire, its still looks brand new while the middle is almost used up 🤣
Had too much fun with it and did burnouts
the color on camshaft .. this orginal from new .. noting wrong
just bought one in a box. these videos are great
No way, dude. You find a monster cost 1000 dollars.
dude how cheap are you just buy new pads they are only twenty something on Amazon
I ended up changing them. I was just eager to ride at the time. Not any crazy hard driving just nice cruises :)
When I saw the first video and the walkaround I thought "that thing is WRECKED" and at any number of points in the process I would've been totally stuck. Very impressive work bringing it back from the dead.
Hi. Nice rebuild! I am planning similar to yours.. where did you get the manual? Thanks
That's a bargain! Good job mate! I'd like to ask how did permatex ultra black held up on the engine cases? Any leaks or so ? Thnx in advance :)
no leaks bro! that's what they use at the factory just different color lol
Dude watch for head cylinder dowell pins dont lose those lil shits . If you lose them ,may compromise the gaskets .😭
Lost two pins was unaware because i didnt check my answer book Went to reassemble Rode it one mile it started smoking and spilling oil everywhere . Thought i blew it up Turns out it was those two alignment dowel pins i lost.😭 I found out now that im rebuilding once more no stress though got smarter have to check for every bit of hardware . That bike sounds beast man.
most of the video was filmed in time lapse. what are your questions? i could answer some questions...
Hi, I’ve got a question on something that was hard to see in the time lapse around 18m33s . . . do you put the 2nd chain guide in before the head goes on? Is it just sticking it in there and poking it around until it feels right? What’s the trick? Thanks 👍
