I took the NRS class with some awesome instructors at the ridge. If you've ever thought about racing motorcycles, you should do it, even if you decide NOT to race. The instruction was great, professional, and it was a blast. The footage makes me look fast but my lap times are still slow for someone who wants to race. I hope you enjoy though

Im breaking the news that I got a new bike by breaking it in at the track! This was my first time riding a 1000cc bike on the track and it was equal parts terrifying and fun. Hope you guys enjoyed the video. I also set a personal best this day of 2;10;17. Not the fastest around but it's still an improvement. THE AUDIO IS LOUD BUT I LIKE THAT IT ADDS TO THE VIOLENCE

I'm 17 my first bike was a Ducati 749s
@@stuka7907 more power to ya! If I lived next to a Ducati dealership it would be more realistic. But there's no Ducati support here unless you go further north.
You're patient and kept a good distance when he was in the lead. Definitely a quick first bike

Thats like getting a Corvette as your first car 😬. I hope he's got some crash pegs on it. Also, great idea putting the new up front, it puts less pressure on them and you can keep an eye on them. As I'm sure you know 👍
@@scubastevedan I know!! I actually said something very similar to a friend except I said a Lambo cause they're both Italian haha. He didn't wanna lead but it's better I think so he doesn't feel the need to push to keep up. It worked out well

Wow, congrats! 05 was indeed a special era of superbikes. Happy for ya. How many miles on the odometer? I agree the better MPG of the inline four adds up to a nice bit of cash & time saved over time.
@@movem1 the bike had about 20k on the clock and I have put about 700 on it since. It needs a little love but I just changed the chain and sprocket -1/+2 and it feels amazing.
@@Tank_Taps holy smokes only 20K on the clock, you found a good one! I sold my 05 cbr1000 to a guy in Oregon recently. Its great to know the appreciation for raw superbikes is alive and well in all corners of the USA. Hell yea.
@@movem1 yeah I got lucky! Once all the neglected maintenance is done it'll be good for another 20k plus miles I'm sure! Love the reliability of those Asian bikes. Also the mid 2000'S had amazing bikes all around

@@NightRevBikes legit was trying to get the wind to dry up my foot pegs cause my feet kept slipping
@@Tank_Taps lol been there! Probably bad advice, but I now drag my boots outwards on the footpegs a few times, then gently put my boots flat on the road and drag them a little as I take off...feels like i can grip the pegs better after doing that. Obviously, I keep my feet away from the bike and not near the rear tire trajectory lol

The Toce pipes on those R1's sound amazing.. Best setup I've probably ever heard was with the crossplane though.
They are SO loud but they do have a nice deep sound to them. It's a great sounding/looking exhaust

@@Tank_Taps I agree xD technically my first bike, I bought a Hyosung gt250r before because it was super cheap, but its waayyy too heavy for me and i fell off it twice so I was like nope Im getting a proper bike aha
@@micahrussell2176 those naked bikes are so light and they sit super comfy. Like the weight distribution feels good. I had a z400 once and it was great. Super reliable too! Happy for you man 🤘
I have an 05 R1 too. Still a blast to ride even if it's almost 20.

I would also recommend a 4 ft long orange flag that you can add to the back of your bike. Not only is it a nice safety feature, but it just looks damn cool. ⛳️
@@tylersmith1400 noted, I'll be sure to add the 4 foot fluorescent orange flag. Certainly that will help the awful Washington drivers. Perhaps they'll be so aware of me that they fail to notice other things on the roadway (likely)

@@ShadowRiderlife Grom will hold it's value better and has a very very tiny bit more power. Another thing is that the Grim has a lot of aftermarket support already. Just some things to consider. You could probably get one of these much cheaper than a Grom though so that's always super nice

Yeah ppl do some trick with the clutch to get those up. But yeah the small sports bike in USA at least are a really good price and you can have a lot of fun in mountains and in twisted

@@jackmanucy4939 it's good to be aware of the risks. Don't let fear stop you if you really want to. Much of the stuff that happens like this is avoidable. You just have to be on your A game.
Thanks for the straightforward review. Picking mine up tomorrow and I'm just watching vids to occupy myself until then. I've been riding small bikes for 20 years now and have several scooters ranging from a couple of stretched Ruckus' (one with a 150 swap), a 72cc 2001 Honda Elite, a stupid fast 125cc Drag 1984 Honda Spree to a 79 Vespa px150, and decided to finally dip my toes into a geared minimoto. Found a '22 demo model with 100ish miles for $2,200 and couldn't pass it up. I love all my 2 stroke bikes but they're not great for longer everyday rides like this is. And this isn't so loud and won't annoy the entire neighborhood if I decide to go on a sunrise ride. Stay safe out there brother and ride on! ✌
