TBF they skipped Ferrari and went full Sauber. Rocket Racer would make thing so much easier for himself if he hired a pit crew from literally any company other than Octan...

Hey both, sorry for the lack of updates, I was forced to abandon the project when I was locked out of my Unity account, I have since regained access to the project however the desire to work on it is long gone, I can't remember quite how far along in the development process I got even. I remember needing to fine-tune/overhaul the AI and powerup systems but I'm not sure when I'll find the time to get around to it. I apologise as I know this isn't the desired response but I've provided links to game assets/tools for other people who do have the desire to recreate Lego Racers to do so
@irulez22 yeah, but having the ability to do it, advanced programming knowledge is the core issue. Your recreation was the closest we got in the community, and if worked on- could actually overtake the original in many ways. Custom ai opponents or tracks could be added, and that would be neat. It's very difficult to do this in the original. Still hopeful this can be taken up again. There was a guy who made custom intros similar to the original for guides on how to build the actual cars. I'd be willing to help. Multiplayer with ais and friends could have been awesome. Something that also wasn't in the original. Question, how did you extract the models for the opponent racers again?

To make the dart rotate naturally when falling, you need to apply gravitational torque to the dart rigid body in the physics process function. Its not that difficult though, see the gravitational torque formula for reference.

If you had put your apply impulse on your dart in the _ready function rather than in _process you would have achieved much better results as it is only a one time impulse when you throw!

Recreating Flash Games is a really cool idea!
I'm not sure what the point of the video is if you're not going to show code, or go into any detail about how you recreated them? It's cool seeing finished versions and knowing they were created in a completely different engine, but it doesn't really... _add_ anything.
Im inspired to do the same, does that program also allow you to see the code?
It does, even having its own deobfuscation. It's really a pretty cool program, but it isn't really good at playing the Flash games back accurately, which seems to be one of the few downsides it has.
Taking into consideration the fact that you went in blind and still made these games work is something that is worth looking up on.

Hi, I tried to open the .PLY converted track file in blender but there are no textures, only the grey model. Did you have the same issue or how did you fix it?
It's been a while since I've touched this project, but I've uploaded some of my assets here github.com/TayIorSwift/LegoRacers I cannot remember having any texturing issues but you can always assign textures to parts of the map in unity by dragging the relevant sprite onto the gameobject, this will automatically create a material for it 👍

absolutely look to the Dark Souls series for combat. Doesnt have to be difficult but similar combat system would make an amazing lego rpg. Holding block on a shield in real time melee combat for example and spell casting, those games have basically what you want for combat. Looks amazing so far hope you keep working on it!

My friend and I have been dreaming of playing local multiplayer (known as versus mode ingame) but together with bots. So the same as in single mode but with two human controlled vehicles. The idea is that it would add a lot more unpredictability into the otherwise somewhat repetitive versus mode. We're quite literally prepared to pay for someone to program that in if someone is interested 😁
