Hi I just wanna import a quad for my son So it won’t be taxed ? It’s just 1 or 2 quads
All depends on if you can prove it was under 1,000 AUD
Interesting video, thank you for sharing. Very informative
Thanks dude, hope it helps. I went a good year or two without knowing about it when I started importing, it’s not really talked about much for small businesses
Hi there, great and informative video. Just a question to something i've never been able to find an answer for. Thought id ask you to see if you knew by any chance. ; right now my business name is my own name, but i want to trade as a different name. But I cant find anything about registering a trading name. I still want to keep the business name as my name, but trade as something else. e.g john smith trading as john smith right now, but want to change it to - business name john smith, trading as big apples. By any chance do you know what to do about this?
Hey mate, thank you! Yep that’s what this video shows. So you’ll be a sole trader, John Smith trading as Big Apples
@@sidebusinessbloke Thanks so much! it can be a bit confusing sometimes XD so even changing my trading name wont change the business name since its just linked to my ABN?
@@LoLKingmaster700 totally mate, yea they don't make it easy! Yep, that's correct. Search for some businesses on abr.business.gov.au/ and until you find a sole trader and it'll make more sense. The entity name at the top will be the sole trader's name and the business name(s) will be listed underneath
@@sidebusinessbloke cheers mate ive subscribed you're a legend
Being in a rural ish town in qld I can confirm that literally no-one cares. As long as it doesn't look like a motorcycle the police won't care.
Hi dear I want to make a promotion video of my application and the application is about earnings you make video about my application and upload on your channel I will pay you how much money you required please reply to me when you recieve mail
Hi Andy, great video quick question. For the section where you have to provide "Address for service of documents" and "Principal place of business address" can we just use a temporary address just to secure my business name because I am mostly likely going to use a virtual address later on. Cheers.
Thanks mate! Yea I’m almost certain you can change the address later on
Had a look at a few of your vids and I think this type of content is your niche. Ecom is always a solid niche but you got quality info.. you’re channel is 1 of like 3 channels I’ve actually subbed to because most of the content in this niche is full of hot air all saying ‘you can become a millionaire if you follow these steps, find a great product and sell it’ 😂 you got the proper educational content and I think you’ll grow quickly.
Thanks legend! You’ve pretty much summed up how I feel about a lot of channels. I’ve failed enough times to know it’s not easy and I don’t think saying it’s easy to become a millionaire by doing xyz is helpful to anyone! Thanks for your support! 🙏
Lock out your front suspension if not going off road helps with range.
Hey! Thanks for all the useful tips! I just started my little business and your channel is helping me a lot. I have a question. I have a regular job where I earn around AUD 80k a year, so any income on top of that will be taxed at 30% when doing the tax return. I am importing an item from Alibaba that costs me AUD20 to get it to my door, and I would like to sell it for AUD60. In order to know how much I would be making per item, would I have to take 30% off the selling price before calculating the difference? In this case: 60-18-20=AUD 22 per item. Thanks in advance for your help
Thank you mate! Congrats on starting a business and great that you’re already thinking about tax. That 30% tax is only payable on net profit, not revenue. So it would look more like 60 - 20 - all other expenses (website costs etc) = net profit Assuming you’re a sole trader, the net profit gets added on to your total income at tax time. In other words tax is 30% of your net profit, not the $60 so it’s a lot less Not to be confused with GST (if you’re registered for gst)… that would come off the revenue for each sale much like your formula. GST is 10% but you only have to register for GST when your business is earning $75k revenue per financial year. Hope that makes sense!
@@sidebusinessbloke Thanks for the quick reply! this sounds much better then. No, I am not registered for GST as I don't expect it to reach $75k.

australia is a joke
It's crap. The limit should 40kph but no more.
Thank you. I have had success on Mad Paws, even to the point of actually finding my "soul" dog. You must really love animals, and have an array of photos with you and pets present and relaxed around you on your profile. You can choose your own boundaries, and the pets you wish to take on. Yes, there is only so much you can charge, and there are a few other issues with Mad Paws though, that people need to be aware of. If something goes wrong (happened to me on two occasions) even when a pet in your care does not need to go to the vet; Mad Paws always seem to side with the pet and the owner/client, rather than the sitter. e.g. I looked after a cat who constantly hissed at me, and despite having looked after this same cat a few times before on the platform with no issues - Mad Paws trust and safety department asked me if I hit it. I mean, I am police checked, and I want to maintain my reputation on this platform; hence why would I do something as absurd as that?? They are a massive responsibility, and the more 5 star reviews you get, you get more weird and curly enquiries that I have had to cancel due to the higher risk of such opportunities. Plus Mad Paws take a 20% (not a 15%) pay cut, and with sitting at the pets home, it is easy to get homesick quite quickly. Nice video though.
Congrats on the new baby🎉🎉 and thanks for the info
Ahh thanks very much! This was a while ago, I’m surprised I could even formulate full sentences at that time! 😅
Any advice of where to find suppliers
Great info Bro
Thanks maaaate!

Being here shows me being from the southern US. Id sirvive
The laws in this country make PEVs pointless. I can't even privately own an E Scooter. It's absolutely ridiculous, nanny state.
The laws absolutely suck in Australia, I can't even ride a privately owned escooter here in SA. They might change the law, but not until next year, with a speed limit of 25km/hr. I just came back from Malaysia riding a 40km/hr scooter wherever I wanted. Now I don't even know if I want an ebike. With these laws, there is no point.
Same in Perth, mate, but tbh, I've seen many ebikes using bigger motor here, I am not sure if it is not too restricted here, I don't know. I want to gamble buying myself from Alibaba or aliexpress tho
Adelaide the ANTI FUN Capital of Australia ! =)
Yeah nah, yeah nah is Kiwi slang.
what affordable ebikes do you recommend? something like a fat bike?
For #1, believe it or not, I put Catazer SOLID ebike tires and rolling resistance is practically zero. They feel like riding on the rim, though. Takes getting used to but NEVER a flat.
Hi Andy,is it best to have an ACN if wanting to monetise your TH-cam. Btw, i have an ABN. Thanks in advance. ❤😊🙏
Hey mate, you don’t need an ACN, ABN is enough but some people like the extra security of operating under a company
That is, can I just use my ABN or is it better from the outset to setup an. ACN?
@@Si-iv9qd you can use a sole trader ABN from the start and then switch later if you like. Or start with a company structure from the start. There are too many deciding factors for me to advise what’s best for you. Reach out to an accountant if you’re still not sure
@@sidebusinessbloke thanks a million Andy!
Thank you for these informative videos, i am on my way to starting an Amazon business and have the following questions if you could kindly give a response: 1- Can we source products from Alibaba and sell them on Amazon without a brand registry? only have company and ABN. 2- How to do a brand registry in Australia? 3- As a beginner, which market will be good for me to get start, Aussie or USA? 4- What tools I can you use for the product hunt? the jungle scout not working in Australia. I would be very thankful if you could provide responses. if you can provide your contact details, contact you directly and discuss everything over phone with you.
Great vid! Opinions on a claud-butler-ridge-1-0-electric, i can get a new one basically free (work), it's a basic one but looks decent for general riding / occasional grass track stuff.
I'm looking for company formation in Australia please help me?
Hi, If i have got an ABN as a sole trader, can I still use this ABN to register a business name ?
Quick question for the chat I have applied for a business name and selected pay later. The status of my application has updated to pending payment. But I can figure out how to pay. there has been no email with payment details and I can’t figure out how to pay online. Does anyone have any ideas for me to
Storage... If not using your bike for a few days or longer, try to have the battery level about 50%, then charge immediately before your next ride (that way your battery never sits at 100%). Also, ideally, store the bike at room temperature - if not practical to have your bike inside, take only the battery inside when not using the bike for a few days or longer.
Do you have a review of the 2.0? Thanks
Love how the rating is "Max 500W continuous" Continuous power is such a dubious rating, because it depends entirely on the speed you're measuring at and what we consider "continuous" Like a high power 72V mid drive might only be able to do 500W continous before you burn up your controller &/or motor if you're in top gear going up a hill... and then pull a few kW peak flat out in a lower gear.
It’s a shunt that throttle is crazy slow here in Aus.
Yeah so Cadel Evans gets 100 km we get maybe 70.
now i know how to register. Can you tell me how to do trust stamping fees with authorities after registration ?
Oooh sorry mate, don’t know. Sounds like a question for an accountant
I'm looking for company registration in Australia so please help me?
Google “register a company” and make sure you do it direct on a gov website so you don’t pay more than you need to. Should be $597 at the time of typing this message!
I'm procurement agent in China, can help you find procudct and contact factories in China. Please contact me.
Well explained, thanks
Ah thank you, that’s much appreciated! Best of luck with your business!
Thanks for the video . I got a qs . I don't have a registered co. Or a shop . Can I still import to Australia. If not .what other options are there
Thanks dude. It’s my understanding that you can import without a business but if you plan to sell the things you import then you’ll need to be at least a sole trader
Thank you for the informative video, have a question, I want to start e-commerce (Amazon FBA) in Australia, what type of registration do I need with the government, or is any license required???
Great question mate! You’ll need to register a business eg sole trader or a company. As far as licenses go, you can check your products on the ABLIS website to see if you need anything
Hi mate, I've got some questions regarding how to get the sales tax exemption on orders from ali baba when importing from china to australia and was just wondering if you have an email or social media I could direct message you on to ask these questions?
Hey mate, soz for the delay in getting back to you! Did you end up figuring this out? It’s not the most user friendly site!
I could average around 25kph years ago when I was cycling as a commuter, and I didn't race!
Using the 25% to 75% range and not letting it drain below 25% and just charging to 75% will add significant life . We don’t want to hear that either . Science!
Great channel mate. Look forward to seeing it grow!
Ah thank you! That’s very much appreciated! 😃
I think it is dangerous that e-bikes can't accelerate and go a fair bit faster. I used to ride a motorbike that used to go up to +150km/h and easily get away from trouble when needed, i.e. getting away from these lunatics with their 4 wheels on the outside and one on the inside. My eBike is useless at getting anything out of pedaling, a very handy and practical eCargo bike, so it is all through the throttle but it goes to a max 33 km/h, measured. IT IS PATHETIC, 50-80 km/h it should be so we could actually ride on most roads, otherwise the lunatics are getting the shits more and more trying to avoid us and cyclists will die, it is not if, it's only a question of when! Why are politicians in Australia so bloody dumb ?😉
So helpful! Thank you
they ban ebikes over 250watt but not alchahol or tobacco
Hi mate, I’m looking to place my first bulk order from China of dietary supplements. Is there any other document except taxes & duty fees that I should keep in mind ? Thank you
Hey mate, nice work! Not sure to be honest but off the top of my head I'd just wanna check that none of the items are prohibited at www.abf.gov.au/importing-exporting-and-manufacturing/prohibited-goods/list-of-items and then check if you need a licence/permit at ablis.business.gov.au/
I am a trusted freight forwarder provide DDP service from China to FBA or the third address, and can also help you find supplier in China, once you need, welcome to contact me
Hey mate, thank you for your video. Very informative. I'm starting a small business in Australia. Do you reckon I need to engage a freight forwarder to import goods from china (via Alibaba). I have seen a few videos, I'm a bit unsure if u should involve them as I'm just starting out and it might cost me extra. What are your thoughts?
Thank you! Depends really, are you not happy with the shipping options that the seller is offering?
@@sidebusinessbloke I am, I have received samples from them and they used their freight forwarder and I had no issues with the shipping. But just thinking about the future, when I order in bulk and my orders will be more than $1000. From what you explained, there are a lot of steps involved, just concerned that letting them do all the paperwork and stuff would put me in an unsafe position at any stage. Or am i thinking too much?
Got ya. It's hard to say without knowing the details but Alibaba suppliers are usually pretty used to shipping to small businesses in Australia and handling the paperwork etc. If it's a big bulk order then it may be worth getting some quotes from other freight options. Is it air or sea?
@@sidebusinessbloke okay, thanks. It will be air.
Cool if it’s eg DHL/Fedex it’ll be super easy, they’ll just reach out to you with an invoice if any taxes/duties need to be paid
Just the kind of info I wanted to know before approaching an accountant. You packed so much in as well. Concise and easy to grasp. Thank you!
Ahh thanks for taking the time to comment that, really appreciate it! It was difficult keeping the video that short! Good luck in your venture!
