Awesome product you made here glen. I’ve been looking around for quite some time for a load cell braking system and now here it is. I’ll have to save up some funds and give this setup a try whenever it comes time
Hi, great video I have a buddy who’s in a wheelchair and uses all the paddles on his McLaren wheel. I just sent him a link to it and hopefully he’ll be interested but I was wondering if you sell any internal parts of the wheel like the Ziggy micro switch I have one switch that one went bad on me after two years
I don’t sell any Fanatec parts. You might want to look into 3rd party magnetic shifter like SimMakerZ
Hey Glen, i found your yt accidently and after reading your website about us page I subscribed to your channel. Cammus epadals are perfect for your to test for users with disability. I have asked cammus marketing to contact you. I hope they will send you cammus epedal to review. Great job.
I just wanted to say that I hurt my back when I was 19 and braking on sims always caused me pain and stopped me from racing. That was until I found your paddle extenders a few years ago and was able to get back into it because of them, so I just wanted to leave this comment truly thanking you for making a product that let me keep racing.
I'm so glad you are able to enjoy sim racing again! You're welcome and thank you so much for your kind words. It helps keep me motivated for sure. Thanks! - Glenn Sidman
I did the same tbh and I almost went this route. I may in the future. But for the first 7 months it hurt so bad and of course we are told dont be to rough by doctors because of our spines etc. Well I stuck it out and went through the pain. My feet still go numb at times and yeah just is tough but I will say overtime now my back handles it so much more. My hips and legs are getting much stronger bevause of it and whats funny is I have less issues walking then ever before. I was worried the hurt and the uncomfortable feeling was telling me I'm making more damage. Come to find out its been the best physical therapy I could have asked for! So yeah its actually improved me and I'll never ever stop because of it. We aren't all the same though and your injury is probably more severe then mine but I still think some days getting something like this would help me out alot on those bad days.
Hey Glenn glad to see some content from you... Crazy that you posted this today as I just did my first live stream earlier with an on-board behind the wheel cam. I am still trying to figure out a load cell brake ring. A guy over in the UK is trying to help me figure it out, but havent made much progress.......I will be starting to live-stream more in hopes of growing the disabled sim racing community, but also to try getting the attention of ppl from IRL motorsports, DIT sim racers and anyone else that can help be figure out how to get this load cell brake ring built. I hope you will check it out... you still are and always will be the king of the adaptive sim control universe...Whenever I mtalk with any person who vant use traditional foot pedals you are the only recomdation I make. I also want to thank you for opening up this world to me, I am still not very fast, and even with the greatest control system in the world, I probably never will be, but the racing has become my only true passion.
Thanks Jake! Feel free to send me a link to your live stream and I'm happy to share it on Facebook (and others if I get off my butt and used them). If it helps, I've been through several versions of ring systems, with and without load cell braking. I've had decent systems with the smaller Thrustmaster wheels, but once I increase the diameter for larger rims things just don't feel right and the braking varies a bit depending on where your hands are on the ring. I'm still working at it and getting quite close. But it's difficult for me for sure. And it's one thing to build a single unit, but another to be able to manufacture affordable and consistent quality. - Glenn Sidman
Hello do you also have bigger throttle brake paddle for the BMW M4 GT3 STEERING WHEEL.
@@johnhemelrijk I’m not familiar with the BMW M4 GT3 wheel yet, but I can confirm our product only works on wheels using the Fanatec APM.
Thank you very much Glenn for everything you do, I have enjoyed your fantastic adaptation of the T300 steering wheel for 7 years, it works perfectly and I have enjoyed it from day one! ❤
TOP! ❤
Thanks!
you're awesome Glenn, great to see new equipment.
Thank you sir!
Such a cool sign!
We love it. Thanks!
Im amazed this mod isn’t more popular
this is amazing. First time seeing it. I am in a wheelchair myself hopefully One day I could get something like this
Love what you do Glenn! you make dreams come true!
This is exactly what I need to build for my teenage son with CP, he loves racing but will never be able to drive. Something like this is the best I could do for him. Some great ideas here I will definitely steal.
If I could afford a wheel and the paddles i would start a youtube channel and advertise all of this stuff for my handicap community I know quite a few guys and girls that I met during inpatient therapy that would love this. I would really like to be able to give hope to the other people and kids like me that we can still do what we love. My car and driving was my life and i had to sell it. I have always wanted to get on a thrustmeter. One of these days maybe ill be able to afford one and your paddle set up so i can start a channel for my people out there to see. thanks for your hard work and time to incorporate all this. I will for sure advertise your company if i ever get to.
wish I could afford this stuff :/ Driving was my life, always wanted to get a sim wheel
Thank you all at SimAbility, Parcel arrived faster than I expected since our mail system is so messed up. Even USPS were better at updating me on it's progress, even when it was in the UK lol. Not installed the conversion kit yet but will update when I do. Thank you all again for allowing me to get back into a hobby that I once enjoyed, and do again I hope thanks to you 😘
We're looking forward to hearing how things go and welcome back to sim racing/driving.
Oh man, I am happy to report my package fron SimAbility with the paddle set and shifter bar for the McLaren GT3 V2 wheel rim was delivered, and installation, with the help of this video was a breeze. I would caution anyone who has limited fine motor control, nerve damage, or even just less sensation in their fingertips, may want to have someone around that could give them a hand. But really. the install went great, this paddle set is beautiful, and it really transforms the wheel from something that merely allows you to use it without a peddle set, into a system that was made to be driven with your hands, and gives you the ability to get as much out of it as you want. Thank you to Glenn and his family for making this incredible product. I cant wait to see what the community of disabled sim racers will be able to do in the future with companies like SimAbility creating cutting edge adaptive technologies that will allow this community to grow in numbers, and in the possibilities open to its members.
Thanks Jake. Appreciate the feedback and happy to hear you are enjoying the product.
Does that work older mclaren GT3 wheel
Yes. Both of our new paddle products work on the McLaren GT3 V1 and V2 wheels and with both Fanatec quick releases. Great question.
amazing work as always
Thanks!
Awesome shop!! Can't wait to see your new one!
Looking great!
Great work you are doing Glen many people can now enjoy what they/we otherwise would not be able to do. Thank you
Estás muy bien preparado, gran empresa. Un gran profesional. Saludos desde España.
Muchísimas gracias
So you have some paddle sets for the McLaren GT3 V2 wheel rim looks like ready to be shipped. The last time I visited your website I couldn't find anything except for the Thrustmaster equipment. Are you currently accepting orders for the paddles set pkg for the McLaren rim? I cant tell even begin to thank you enough for doing what you're doing
The McLaren GT3 paddles have been very close to launching on the website for a while now, but not quite there yet. Still need to finish install documentation, product details, shipping details, and some other minor things. We have about a dozen units out there now being used by brave new product users/testers. The feedback leads to small changes which leads to more delays, but it’s all part of our effort to provide the best possible experience once they go live. BTW, you should check for an email from SimAbility on Sept. 17th where we offered you an opportunity to be a brave new product user :)
Yeah I signed up for emails on your website, and added you to my contacts (both on my phone and in my Google account) but haven't received any that I've seen in my main folder, however I have not checked the spam folder yet, which I will do. Im sorry I missed that email, because I would love the opportunity to help "The Cause" (ie Make SIM racing accessible) in any way I'm able to. Hopefully I'll be able to find that email in the Spam folder, so I can sign up and maybe have an opportunity to test out some future awesome piece of adaptive equipment you're going to create. Thanks for reply to my comment and thank you for what you're doing and just as importantly HOW you are doing it.
You're the greatest. Thank you so much for what you're doing, not only with the amazing adaptive equipment you're engineering, but also the community you're creating....wish I could come race with you all over in iRacing world, but alas, I fear theres no gaming PC in my future, unless something crazy happens. Any disabled sim racers on console interested in getting a group together (or if you know of one already in existence) my PSN is Doc_Holiday_906 and my Xbox gamertag is Doc Holiday906, send a friend request or invite if im online. Keep up the incredible work you're doing Glenn, you're the best.
As a disabled sim racer, I'm heart warmed by the work you do, for disabled sim racers. I've been looking for adaptable controllers for one handed use - mainly right handed to control the brake and acceleration on the right side. The design of the wheel is a really interesting concept, using a ring on the rear and the front. Can a steering aid be attached to the ring wheel to aid rotation, can a gap be made to slot the steering wheel itself? If they do become available in Great Britain I know I'll be buying one. Send my best to your family, and please keep up the excellent work. Brandon
Thanks Brandon! Have you seen the 3DRap Single-Hand controller? This might be perfect if you are on PC: www.3drap.it/product/hand-controller-throttle-and-brake-gaming-is-possible/
@@simability yes I have seen it, but I'm unable to use it, because I use a steering aid to rotate the wheel. My left hand is unable to hold the wheel because it's steel plated, this is due to a stroke I had as a baby, so unable to hold the wheel, whilst in rotation.
Really appreciate the work you do on your products and the fact you are always looking to improve your systems. Thanks so much. I will be a future customer.
Thanks!

Hello Glenn, I’m glad you covered a bunch on the McLaren gt3 wheel. I’m a dual leg amputee and currently use that wheel along with the csl elite wheelbase. I have an issue with the gas and brake paddles on the back of my gt3 wheel where there is a slight deadzone when the paddles are first initially pressed where it detects no input but works ok after a specific threshold if that makes sense. I saw someone else with this wheel experiencing the same issue as me so I wouldn’t think that it’s a problem with my wheel necessarily. I’m wondering if you’ve encountered this problem and have found a fix for it to where the paddles detect proper input when first applying pressure? Thanks.
Hi Adam! Glenn and me have been discussing this precise problem for the last couple of days, as that's exactly what I am complaining of on the simability kit on my mclaren. Before I found your post on reddit last night, I thought i was going crazy. But now it seems this is a mclaren gt3 issue. As of now, we have no decent solution for the deadzone. However, my other wheel, the fanatec formula with advanced paddle module seems to be fine regarding that. The deadzone is absolute minimal and you can use the paddles quite efficiently.
@@arturaskundelis right on, I appreciate you all taking the time digging into this issue. I’ve tried shoving wedges between the paddle and the wheel itself to compensate for that extra space within the input but the wheel just automatically decides to calibrate itself back to the original deadzone it had. Either way, doing that was just decreasing the overall gas and brake input I had left.
@@AdamKilday we share the same pain man! With the new simability mclaren paddle kit that Glenn is demonstrating in the video, it's actually fairly easy to adjust that. But it still takes like 10 minutes and obviously still has to be done after each start of your wheelbase. It's great that we're in touch now, hopefully we'll come up with some kind of calibration solution for it!
@@arturaskundelis I believe everything will be good if fanatec adds in a deadzone setting for the paddles within their control panel. Hopefully you all have reached out to them about possibly adding this in as a an option to their software. If you find any solutions or fixes I’ll be forever thankful if you update the comments with what you have found.
@@arturaskundelis just curious, how do you calibrate your gt3 wheel to run on Ovals with hand controls? I’m usually limited to wheel rotation while maintaining proper throttle control when I calibrate the wheel as specified by iRacing.
Awesome!!! Been waiting for stuff to get in stock so I can finally get into sim racing. So excited!
Well then, we soon welcome you to the world of sim racing!
@@simability Hi Glen! Awesome video! Is the MClaren wheels used only for road racing? Looks like a wider base for a turn for road courses if you know what I mean. I love my wheel! Thanks again!
@@mikeyeden5791 Hi Mikey, it would work well for both, but I agree, a round wheel just feels better for oval. We should have something similar for Fanatec round wheels in the next year or two.
It is super exciting to see both of these products. I've been racing with the Fanatec F1 wheel and the advanced paddle module, and like you said, those hairpins are killer with paddles.
What's the best way to be notified when your products are available to order? Love the Mclaren gt3 wheel but it has its issues and these upgrades will greatly improve it. Cheers and thanks for what you're doing...
I dream of the one, in the second part of the vidéo...where i could buy it? It is for my brother.
Mate... this is incredible! I'm a paraplegic and was looking for ways to adapt a sim wheel with hand controls but I wasn't expecting to feel feelings haha. What you've created is a bloody work of art, and you're love and devotion as a Father is inspiring!
España?
I have been chatting a guy that has cerebral palsy about building a rig. I stumbled on your video and I gotta say.....AWESOME BUILD. Very cool indeed, Race on Buddy! I plan to share this with him as he plans on build something similar, very good ideas. Thanks for sharing the ingenuity! Darren
Hey Glenn, great to see the new stuff your working on. I've had my F1 paddle module for several years and they still work flawlessly. Good luck on the new gear!!
Very cool
❤️
Fantastic engineering Glenn, great work. Its great knowing someone is out there taking the time and effort to develop solutions. I've got a F1 wheel with the advanced paddle module which works great but just missing that brake load so i'll be super keen to see what you come up with for that in future and i'll be ready to buy. Cheers Sean
I want both, how can I buy them from Italy?
@@simability But will there be a load cell on the brake?
@@simability i want one...this one with the csl elite , especially for the f1 rig, if it's possible...for my brother, as soon as you can😉 thanks.
This is just amazing!! Awesome craftsmanship!! 👏 Keep it up! 👍
Hi Glenn, I bought a system from you for my thrustmaster a while ago, unfortunately the steering wheel broke, so I went to Fanatec with a CSL DD + Formula V2.0 + paddle kit, it works pretty well. The system for the McLaren can we put it on another steering wheel? Thanks for what you do, friendship from Brussels.
Hello. I'm lucky enough so I don't need those modifications but it seems to be great and well designed. Congratulations, keep going with it. I wish you the best
awesome engineering, really good job!
Great engineering, but IMO the first design is unnecessary and will never work evenly with the center steering column occupied. The 2nd design is perfect and if a game requires to switch hand-position, it's more beneficial to reduce steering rotation instead. I'm using 450° rotation for DR2, WRC10, FH5 and others to keep my hands on the wheel and just sucks when I forgot to change it and running 900° instead. For proper drifting you can't use the first design either since the wheel needs to rotate freely. For the 2nd design I would 3D-print most parts to keep the costs and weight down.
@@simability In real driving you often can't use 'cheats' like lower degrees of rotation and this is an alien-trick to go faster in sim-racing anyway. Just based on guessing I would prefer the 2nd design, but with a backup controller similar to a sequential shifter or this flight-sim-handle-bar that I could use one-handed. With "3D-printing" I meant changing solid aluminium-parts against lighter materials if there is no mechanical stress on them and for developing purpose. For lower production-units 3D-printing is usually cheaper and Resin- and SLS-prints doesn't necessarily look printed. For the typical FDM-printers there are new carbon fiber materials (plus PETG, PLA or Nylon) with quite pretty results. Anyway, for my pedals I'm even sceptical about aluminium and rather prefer steel, with my wheel I want whatever makes it lighter without loosing rigidity. With a wheel above 2 kg even a SimuCube Pro starts getting vague from the FFB and less is certainly more if it doesn't come with flex or lower durability.
Amazing job, God bless
Great job Glenn
Genius!
