Thank you for this. It was an interesting discussion. I got drysuit qualifed during my open water cert. Padi taught the empty your bcd control buoyancy with the drysuit. However i was at another dive shops club meeting. Everyone there was talking about drysuit for comfort or squeeze, bcd fir buoyancy. Tbh this makes sense to me. Thank you for the side mount discussion. Now i need to search to see if you did this. Ive been getting more intrigued by sidemount. It might be something i explore mid summer into winter. I want to see it in operation some as i explore it.

Mike Young showed me this same trick in Cozumel. He loaded all his gear in to his wetsuit, picked it up, and stepped off the boat. Mind blown! Mike Young is the man!!

When you sat it up next to you at the end, all I could think of was “my little buddy”. 😂

It was cool seeing Mike do this down in Cozumel when he was getting off the boat.

Can you give us your handle on Garmin Connect so we can follow you there?

Life has been busy and diving has not happened for awhile. I heard about this computer coming out but I have not researched it at all. Thanks for this firsy look. Do we know if it supports Air Integration? If so, can it use data from other transmitters or only Garmin? Does it support Sidemount? If so, does it auto switch tanks or does the user have to manually switch? I currently have the Ratio dive computer and it has four buttons. I have not found the four buttons to be a problem. It is a great computer. When I got it, it was the only computer supporting a dedicated Sidemount setup and auto tank switching.

Interesting. I personally know at least 6 women could do a 90 minute dive to 20m on one tank, and I guess there are many more. I also know multiple women, especially 40s and up, who find nitrox more comfortable for repetitive diving than air, and also safer in terms of DCS risk (based on their own experiences, not just on tables based on predominantly young men who are most definitely not in peri/menopause). I would be super curious if you had this same conversation with two women dive experts, whether any different perspectives might come up

Always plan your own dive. The Divemaster is just giving you paramaters to use in making your own dive plan. Let's say you are diving a wreck. The Divemaster doesn't know if you are going to the top of the wreck or all the way to the bottom. Or what your dive profile looks like. They don't know what size cylinder you have or your SAC or your buddies SAC rate. Always plan your dive and plan your dive.

I have the Garmin Mk2s. I love it as my everyday smartwatch and my backup dive computer. I run my Shearwater with my transmitters as my Garmin is not AI. Its a great setup with running two computers. Chances are with going to CCR that it wont get used as much as I will run both shearwater computers but thats ok. As for the straps. is there a way to flip them around. I place my z-knife on my shearwater strap and sit it directly where those clips would sit. Love the look of the new X50i. can't wait to see the review

Love my Garmin Mk3 (and Mk2 before it). Love the functions, the multi sports - i've biked and hiked with it... but as a dive watch, the mapping functions are great. And when you are connected to a buddys transmitter, it works so much better than the Shear water (which I also love and use as my back up computer). The range on the buddy tracking is incredible, I was playing with the silly messaging to my buddy while on the Spiegel Grove and another diver that had a Garmin doing their safety spot 80 feet above me replied. But if you get separated in low visibility, you while it won't tell you what direction, knowing that they are within 100 feet and if they are above and below you does help you to find them a bit easier. And on the Mk3 I would suggest buying the bungie strap set up.

Man, if they would fix the audible chirping…I think it would really make a lot of people start seriously consider jumping from Shearwater. I imagine if you’re on a rebreather it’s pretty distracting, especially in a quiet environment like a cave. You’d have your dive buddy ready to stab you in the heart with a knife by the end of the dive lol.

I preordered one of these, i have yet to dive it, you can still get it 150usd or 200 off with transmitter. I'll post where if someone is interested but i have a feeling the coupon isn't suppose to work on it.

Canon you pair transmitters from Shearwater or is it only the garmin transmiters. I am asking this cause in canada they are 2800 bucks with a transmiter. It's a bit steep on the price here. Or maybe should just get an other perdix and save a few bucks.

I have also the MK3i. I have ordered it on release :D I love to track so many activitys. You can also make yout own activitys on the APP or in the watch. I created the activity to track my rollercoster drives. Very fun :P
