I think they used the same physics engine and game engine...whatever, i couldn't program my way out of a paper bag but i think the kraken issues prove that they were using the same foundation... then tac on the requirements to create colonies with millions of parts, we would need Elon's tesla dojo processor to run the game...... i think it was doomed from the start, i think Nate is an artist and approached things from an emotional point of view instead of a logical point of view... LOGIC, ohh that's what is required for computer programing... i could give a crap about art.. i wanted to build massive infrastructure in the game..... I estimate that over 4million people world wide bought the game at what 50 or 60 dollars a pop.... thats 250million in revenue.... and the parent company is popping smoke on the game, WTF.... there has to be a legitimate reason and i think its a broken foundation...... on top of that they want to sell the intellectual rights for a further profit... if tesla goes to the moon and im sitting on a few hundred million i would go directly to Elon and ask him for support and programmers in a joint venture to create the ksp2 (not buying the rights from the liars but starting from scratch) that we all want for cost on my part..... i think they could probably start from scratch and have it done inside of 2 years..... on top of that it would be a training aid for kids to learn space crap for the whole mars project..... this whole thing broke my heart!

Frontier Developements would be great to see with the KSP IP, since they already got a nice looking space game with Elite: Dangerous and a great CGI-Cartoonish style with Planet Coaster.

wait what ? community is angry because we don't know what is happening ? are you serious ? People was absolutely pissed of because since day one those bozos concentrated on pretty visuals rather than making an actual game :/ No wonder they have been reshuffled few times - exec are dumb but no that dumb not to see that there is no progress other than pretty engine plum ! They even set them self some goals like colonies etc - and rather than delivery that is a rough form they were showing of new graphics for planets ... I mean who gives a F about pretty scatters if rockets can't get to orbit due to game breaking bugs ?! This was a sham, and the only good thing we've all got out of this whole exercise was a decent advert.

Okay hot take, but I genuinely beleive that what take two did was illegal and at the very least broke some antitrust laws. They wrongfully advertised that the game would be completed, released a complete vaporware form of a game, and then abandoned it a year later in an incomplete state, not even leaving early access. I personally beleive legal action should be taken against take two interactive for false advertising, fraud, and straight up breaking some antitrust laws along with it

Coming back from months of backpacking, and apperently KSP2 is dead now

So, I went some months backpacking and coming home and KSP2 is cancelled

All this was painfully obvious the moment they started releasing pre-rendered trailers with fuck all in terms of in game footage .

Only people with gambling addiction has issues with this U open it evey 3 or 17 hours click a few times and get free stuff then leave as simple as that

Why is the space game genre so cursed like this?

Am I the only one who thinks the KSP2 trailer showing endless rockets blowing up and things going wrong, was just a bad idea? It's like they didn't even know what KSP was about. Or only had a clichéd vision of it.

Well, that was an emotional 5 years of waiting for a doomed project. Back to KSP1. We can still save it with mods.

Just goes to show you can't replicate a passion project by throwing money and the kitchen sink at it. Felipe Falange (original KSP creator) hit it out of the park because he was working on something he truly cared about, and was given the freedom to do so.

I definitely think there should be an option for a refund on failed ea games ! I think those who paid 50$for a game k in development, even from a prominent studio, now realize what can happen - they can be cheated (there's just no other word for it) out of their money, even by the biggest studios and until Valve doesn't change their refund policy - we should all stop buying games in development (out even in general) because once it hurts their bottom line they will make the change to satisfy the customers, which are us ! I think people have a short memory and too quickly forget these incidents and that's why it continues to happen, ever since the move to digital purchase of games we have been cheated and lied to and manipulated out of millions of dollars by those big studios, the resellers and some indie developers - and now is being done by the big ones - THIS NEEDS TO STOP

its common practice today that games are years in early access I can understand that for small development team of one but not for bigger studios to shipment garbage and not finished product. Mostly we - paying customers are the reason that this practice is so common today - we tolerate it and we pay for “garbage”

It’s like selling a dead plant with the promise it will bloom into beautiful greenery at this point. Yeah early access is a risky purchase as it doesn’t always go the way you’d hope, but this is a post mortem project at this point. It being still listed on steam is either incompetence, or them playing stupid and milking extra money from it by fooling customers and having plausible deniability behind not having an official statement.

I'm not upset because it failed. I'm upset because they baited and switched on the features to make it seem like it was a game worth buying compared to KSP1. In the end, it's barely a graphics overhaul for ksp 1 as it's buggier and has none of the pitched multiplayer, colonies, or interstellar travel that would have actually set it apart from the original. This is Star Citizen levels of bait and switch on features being sold then never implemented. Edit: To your question about what should be done with early access games, how about 50% escrow with dates and milestones, with those milestones releasing a fraction of the funds. Hit the milestone, the developer gets the money. Miss the milestone, the purchaser gets a partial refund.

They can't say it has closed. If they do, they end up with massive potential refunds. The Steam page vastly misrepresents the product and does it to such an extent that in most countries you would be entitled to your money back. They are afraid of this... Plus, multi-billion dollar companies have no right to use Early Access. Early Access was created for Indie developers to allow them to get a revenue stream during development. Big publishers don't need to do this. Still, lesson learnt. I'll be steering clear of any and all early access title from a big publisher in the future.

The policy is that Steam warns people who are buying EA games that they are unfinished, and may never be finished, There won't be any sort of mass refunds. Take Two won't make any sort of statement. They never have been forthcoming with info in any way, and they aren't going to start now.

i agree - if they lie to us we should take company to courts or something and but if steam was take repsonibily of dealing with abandonware - there should be moved to speical section like abandoned games where speical warning banners and refunds would be permitted without any limits so also they should open source the game itself as well for community to work on to make better but if they fail to deal with - its would better is place red list of abandoned games in separate store page where cheap and no support offered for game also remove dev and publisher from right side and put abandoned tag there to show its abandoned to prevent this - if game goes in early access and fails - then steam should remove early access from that publisher or developer then shunt to abandoned game store page where its will be there but in event if IP transferred to other studio or what happens - then steam can reinstate it and shunt back to main store page on early access or full release however - if dev or publish not issued updates or what else - then game should remian as abandoned for forever in speical abandoned game store with big banners displaying no support or its abandoned

KSP2 was full of red flags the moment it was announced, and people still threw their money at it gleefully... Now they make videos complaining that they were duped... But next time something that's an obvious cash grab comes along they will hand over their hard earned money again, then once again complain... demanding refunds and refusing responsibility once again. The same people pay for pre-ordering games that are exclusively distributed via digital services, then complain about what they bought based off a cinematic trailer. It's like having a cry over a mobile game not being the same as the advert, it's comical. No, KSP2 had a lot of red flags. First, it was a sequel that was being released as an early access beta. It's an established title, if they are bringing this in a beta it's a bad sign, especially if the beta is actually an early build alpha like KSP2 was (and still is). Second, charging full AAA prices for an early alpha build of a sequel. Massive red flag this one, if this didn't slap sense into you then nothing would. Third, stupidly ambitious roadmap. The technical challenges involved in their roadmap alone threw up flashing warning signs, but the sheer number of massive game features would have been enough to make a rational person think twice before buying. It's like seeing an advert for cream that's going to enlarge your member by 4 inches and thinking "I'M SOLD!" before putting in your card details. The last red flag that got me was the sorry sack they put in charge of this game. If you know enough about him you know why that should have made you stop and pause. He literally said that wobbly rockets are going to stay "because it makes the game fun". God no, just no. It's the worst part of the game by far. People did EXACTLY the same thing with Cities:Skylines 2. Another soulless cash grab that people payed full price for and got an early alpha build for a sequel. Then they complained, again... All the same red flags as KSP2. Stop giving your money to companies that have no intention of delivering on their promises. You're literally the problem with the games industry, you are the people incentivising companies to produce complete garbage.
