I was having a convo with Daniel Witmer (son of John Witmer) and i said Downchild & the Howl were both from TO and pretty much arrived on the scene at the same time and if you listen to John sing flip flop fly & Rick Walsh they sound pretty close , those that know their voices can tell right away who is who, but the question is was John inspired by Rick or the other way around or was it just a coincidence that both bands from the same area just happened to sound real close to each other . I never got the chance to ask John although we talked about his time with Downchild ,. So perhaps someone reading this knows the answer . I cant seem to reach David Morrison from the Howl for comment . Also does anyone know if there is a recording of the howl when they played Varsity in 69 , most of the other artist were recorded but i cant find the howl anywhere . i wanted to include some of it on a best of John Witmer collection i put together to which i can still add material if available .. Thank you

As of August 2023 this Prime video is NOT VIEWABLE IN CANADA! w.t.f..... Is it that old that its been pulled? Appears to be no way to watch this in Canada as there appears no DVD available either.

Awesome West Coast Swing, don’t know what took me so long to subscribe. Big Downchild fan not only for dancing but just for listening as well. Legendary? Darn right.

Oh my, oh my! This was great! I spent 40 yrs in the Canadian music biz - musician, club owner/operator, festival owner, hired Emcee, 5 yrs on radio, band manager, concert promoter - I had many, many encounters with Downchild - and mainly after the Hock Walsh days, so I was very friendly with Tony Flaim (RIP) That man could party! As recently as 2000 he played my blues club in London Ontario with his touring band. Every time we hired Tony (every 9-10 months or so) it was just a riot! We’d book bands for two nights even in 2000! Fri and Sat shows! So we’d put them up in 2-3 hotel rooms overnight. We trashed a few rooms, Tony and I! Lol The kicker is - I had to pay damages! Some people can just rev you up! That was Tony. Crazy days Peace
