Always wanted to know how it felt to be a rear seat passenger in my Lincoln Mark IV. I'm a big guy at 6'2 300 and wondered if I could fit comfortably.
Lincoln Continental Mark IV. Which one would you choose? 1972 or 1973?

Meet and Greet with my buddy here locally in Chicago near Midway Airport. He has the 1973 which is very clean and sharp. While we both have red Mark IVs, his is lighter in color than mines. #classiccars #lincoln #markiv #1970s #lincolncontinental #lincolncar

I took her on I-55s going towards Romeoville to see how she rides on the highway at speeds greater than 65mph. It was close to 90 degrees with no AC....brutal heat as this car gives off heat inside the cabin. I was sweaty for sure.

1972 saw the the detuning of Fords big block 460 from 365 in the Mark III to 212 in the 72 Mark IV and compression was also down. Interesting to note that the Mark IV had one year only heads. While not as fast or powerful as the Mark III it's better than the 73-76 Mark IV for sure.

Military unit not Veteran's unit
I had one, a '72. One of the worst cars I ever owned. I also had a '70 MK III which was much better build quality and materials.
Really? What was wrong with it? And you had it new? I agree the Mark III was definitely better as far as quality and fit and finish. But the Mark IV was still better than the Cadillac Eldorado and Imperial 2 Dr
@@Chitwn81 I guess it's a matter of each one's experience. Thank you for sharing the video, it brought back memories!
Both 🔥 but that 1972 grill is the one 💯
'73, two words: opera windows! 😎👍
IMPRESSIVE BROS ABSOLUTELY IMPRESSIVE
I'm finishing up a restoration on a 74 Mark IV presently for a customer it was his mother's car unfortunately she recently passed before completion. However, his father is still here and will enjoy some new memories.
So clean! I love old Lincolns!
Just watched again, all the way through. Looks real. --- i put some felt material and hung it down from the layout to cover up what's underneath.
@AnnnTelop87 Yep that's my intention once I get all the other stuff done
I have a friend with 3 mark iv's a blue one, black one and a cream one. All 1972
Nice youre into trains too! I used to have some as a kid. They were really fun. It's a lot of work though. You should get one of those tiny cameras that go on the train, they seem like they really add enjoyment to the model trains
Make sure you keep the exterior looking clean/polished. Thats important with old cruisers. Muscle cars can be a little beat up and still be cool, but the cruisers need to look clean 💯 I cant get enough of seeing this cars shape. Good stuff
You lucked out, she looks great even as-is now. Good color combo, cool wheels, and the thick whitewall stripes. Has the cruiser and muscle look combined. Some of the color/wheel combos this car came in look outdated now, but this looks pretty on-point as it is
Yep that's what I love about the 72. It has the luxury look and the stealth look of a muscle car too
OG as hell. Anyone 40 and older is gonna instantly recognize and know that you know what's up. Seeing this beast on the road next to minivans, teslas, etc. That shape and the spare tire "bulge" in the trunk is iconic old school
Awesome video! Need to put an onboard camera! On a locomotive to see your layout!
Heyyy you did the gears! Do you notice a difference in power?? I think I noticed a little bit more power at low rpms when I did mine.
Yeah I do. It has more get up and go forsure from a stop and go perspective. It gets up to 40 and 50 so easily man. I'm also putting dual exhaust on it and when I fix the parking brake that should wake it up even more.
nice loco but I noticed it stalled in a few areas. Was it the track current or the loco?
@Ryochi2011 Older Intermountain engine so wheels probably dirty and the track itself has a few spots that's either dirty or dead spots. I don't run as often on Mainline 1 because it needs work so I often just park trains on it. I do try and keep it clean but being in a unheated garage and no drywall ceiling, it is a constant battle. It gets dirty and oxidized very easily.
Nicely weathered SD…and smooth run👍🏽
Nice ride bro..nice ride..just got the 1991 ETC, which started the whole ETC moniker with the 4.9l, love the Northstar too..
Hmmm. Can you fit the train station across the tracks from the bus station? That straight away by the train station could be a place to add those businesses in a line. Unless you can add a few inches along the edge there
Sharp looking CP heritage unit
NIIIICCEEEE!!!!
Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching
Grain elevator perfect there I work for cpkc and we have that in our city Move the bus station accross the street or near station stop Then maybe Wendy’s and bk have room they should be together I think If not pick your least favourite building
Nice brother, if you don't mind, where did you find the Greyhound station, i only saw it for pre order, i will admit , i did not search to hard ...it was late!
@dennish.3542 Awesome Diecast website. They have it for pre-order now. For another release this fall. I got the first release in the spring.
When will be available the new #6644 military?
@@SuperFrecciaNera I'm not sure. I'd have to check Athearn's FB page.
The Wendys could be next to the station since there are many people getting on and off the trains and will be hungry. You could replace the coal tipple with a small power plant that relieves loaded coal cars. If you have a mountain-like area you could put the coal tipple there. commercial buildings like restaurants and banks would be closer to the train station and maybe some houses and trees by the bridge.
That's a nice update so far. You could use the N-scale lamps for the station platforms or a background road. also, you could use Stop signs for small private roads.
Can you move the police station to the other side of the grocery store? And move them farther down into the open space. Then you would have more room for the Wendy's. Keep the videos coming.
@johnbanicki7232 so you're saying move them closer to the train station. Spaced apart though?
@@Chitwn81Yes
Will the bus station fit where the Windy's and auto zone are?
@@randysrockandrollrailroad8207 no. It's too wide. The space it currently sits is the only space on the layout big enough for it to occupy. And it actually was supposed to be the site of my Obama library.
Love the greyhound station and the Pepsi building! Your layout looks great!
Real nice bro
Yes, the radio is not from the factory. There were three factory radios available that year - an AM only radio, an AM/FM stereo radio, or the AM radio with stereo 8 track player. I'd cheat and put in the AM/FM stereo with stereo 8 track player from a '73 Mark IV. The rear speakers I believe are 6"x8", not 6"x9".
I have a 2001 ElDorado etc in red. Bought it with 5k miles two years ago. I really like those wheels
@@majorhoonage9161 oh wow. That's the color I wanted. I always wanted a red Eldorado
Awesome trainset, like The Metra Commuter cars & locomotive. ☑️👍
Thank you very much! It was my second layout. My newest and most current one is in the garage. All of my recent videos are of my layout and it has plenty of Metra.
Looking good. Amazing what a little ground cover and trees make the scene pop.
Thanks 👍
Cool update I just subscribed to you
looks good
Looks like some good progress 🤠
Looking good brother! You can use automotive thin pinstripes for your road markings.
Thanks for the tip
Once you start getting some more ground cover down start adding some chain link fences in areas around industries .... I just found some on Ebay and Amazon 👍
@XBOXShawn12thman Thanks I actually got a whole container of ground cover I mixed. I thought I had some spray glue mixture and I don't so can't put any down until then. Also got several fences so I guess I need to put one to block the Pepsi factory from the Greyhound. Funny 😁 because I thought about putting up stone barriers between the two to give it more of " we can't see one another". Thanks for watching
Good looking layout 🎉
Awesome video by the LincolnMan. Thanks from a Canadian Veteran and rail fan. Well done!
That came out great. You even have an old Eagle coach on there.
Yup just as I remembered. When he started he had a full tank of gas.
Sweet
That's a good start. Looks real.
Try Frog tape for the edges. Your layout looks impressive. You have this viewers support. 👍
The struggle is real 😡
7020 (Army Temperate Regions), 7021 (Army Arid Regions), 7022 (Navy), 7023 (Air Force), and 6644 (D-Day) are the Veterans Units. 7010-7014 got Script Lettering and 7015-7019 got Block Lettering. Also the SD70ACus were rebuilt from SD9043MACs, not SD70MACs. The SD70ACus also look more like SD70ACes and SD70M-2s in the nose more than SD70MACs.
Thanks for the clarification, I couldn't remember if they were the SD9043Macs or the 70MAC. Makes sense though seeing as the 90Mac sold poorly and nobody picked them up but UP and CP.
@@nickjohnson7191 correct they were shop queens for sure that’s why they converted them, my script loco is #7013
@zedman6516 I got 7010 for my Script ACu and just received 7015 for my Block ACu yesterday. I also have 7020, 7021, 7022, and 7023.
@@nickjohnson7191 That's sweet, I picked up 7022 and 6644 in" O" by Lionel for a wall display that I plan on putting together with a string of cars for the greatroom... I can't wait to get that done!
@zedman6516 very nice! I have 6644 on pre-order in HO but I won't have it until sometime in 2025.
7021, 7022, and the script lettering heritage scheme were in the last run.
Wow really? I never knew that. Yea I wanted the one with the script lettering.
@Chitwn81 I do believe Athearn is doing another run of 7021 and 7022. I know they're doing that 5 pack where you can get all of them at once but I think you can get 7021 and 7022 separately as well. Don't quote me on that though.
