Lombard Hobbies FTW! I feel you on the agonizing wait for a top tier manufacturer to come out with the Budds/Sharyo's......AND AN E9! I've spent years collecting some 3 Brothers kits.......but this is the real deal. I saw the brass offering at Elmhurst model rr club some years back.....but that was already years out of production and that wasnt anything an average railroader could afford anyway. This finally fills the bill for those of us that want to model HO scale commuter operations......me, i'm a BN fan so i'm working on modeling the racetrack. Great video.
Props on being first to review these! What do you think? Happy with them overall? Curious to see how they compare with the Rapido ones coming in a few months
@fevinman7162 Thanks man. Appreciate you! Yea I love em, just gotta get them to operate reliably on the layout. I would hate to only be able to run them on the club layout or on the outside layout in my garage. The detail up close is 👌🏿
They look great! They even have green lighting inside them like the real version! I wonder if they will make the EMU variant that runs on the Metra Electric and South Shore lines. They seem to run smoothly as well!
@@Ryochi2011 I got the EMU Highliner kit that a guy produced a few years ago. I still need to get someone to put it together and decal it so i can run it. I want it in IC scheme.
Those look great. Still trying to get my layout up and running. Ripped out all HO and am converting to HOn3. Right now I wait a lot on glue and paint drying. Getting there, though. Keep doing you!
Thanks for the early review. Got a set plus two coaches from Lombard. The cars roll surprisingly well in push mode. They pull apart slightly when towed. Can't wait to put sound in the cab car and get the lights to behave like the real cab cars do over by Metra.
I'm pretty sure there is a way to fix the Headlights/Marker Gyro Lights to only be on running forward, and when the Polarity is reversed so that the Locomotive is going opposite, the RED Markers are only on! It can be done, even for DC Modelers!
Nice review ! Do these cars have any onboard capacitors and the lights stay on for a little while or do they cut out as soon as they encounter any dirty track ?
@BrentNguyen46 No capacitor unfortunately. They cut out with the dirty track. Has happened several times on my layout. But they do seem a little more hearty than others
@MrBillCNW true but then tack on another $100 per car. Alot of folks already struggle with paying 100/per car as is. So it's a damn if you do and damn if you don't situation.

@@Chitwn81 The IC EMU high-liner kit?! That's super rare! Is it based on the 1970s black and orange Highliners or the new ones?
Looks great. Can’t wait to hear the bell with the decoder installed.
@BigbearSM-IL Ordered the sound decoder today. Hope to get it installed next week some time.

I'm getting mine soon but likely from another hobby store.

I think Atlas dropped the ball. They should’ve put a decoder in it from the get-go and had the sound files already set up. It’s like why go half ass.
