Our BIGGEST LOSS Yet...
มุมมอง 1.8K2 ปีที่แล้ว
So we lost some chicks to a heavy early morning rain... It sucks, but it's not the end of the world. We lost 11 when I counted them all up. It definitely could have been much worse, and I am grateful that it was not. I hope you can learn something from this and that it can help you in the future. Thanks for watching!
7 WEEK OLD CHICKENS: Update
มุมมอง 1.1K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Here's some things to think about as your broiler chickens are approaching 7 weeks of age. There's no amount of required time that you must spend thinking about these things, but you are free to think about them as much as you desire... unless the time you spend thinking about these things detract from your adult responsibilities and/or duties as a productive human being, in which case, your ti...

GROWING FOOD In The Middle Of A pAnDeMiC!
I've watched the entire video but I missed the part were you said how many acres you used?
We’ve had raccoons rip apart chicks by sticking their arms under the tractor and pulling on whatever body part they could tear off. It’s awful. We have to put electric wire around each chicken tractor. Also, it gets very hard to catch the chickens under the aluminum when it’s time to dispatch them so I strongly suggest putting a second hatch on the covered part too.
Mr Beast learned to farm!
critters can get in the staples
Do you modify it for winter conditions? To keep more warmer hens?
I'm new to all of this. What do spots mean?
Brother plz give us update about your farming 🙏
Hello! If there are long periods of rain, for example 4-5 days, and the pasture is soaked, how do we keep the chickens from getting wet and sick while in the chicken tractor? If we don't have a dry shed built nearby, is there a solution related to the construction of the chicken tractor?
👍
@HavenDeZeeuw Great content!!! How long has it taken to sell the remaining 700 chickens? And what about freezer storage, what did you use and how much did it cost, it wasn't mentioned. Thanks
next video on how to resize and draw and blend in pictures

Hello, my friend. Thank you so much. Where/how do you sell the meat?
Здорово!
Bay County Here!
I free range my hens. I put the nest box in the field near their coop. Auto door opens at 6:30 am. Closes at dark. They all go in during the night. Anyone have thoughts about doing it this way. I couldnot find anyone talking about just keeping the egg box separate from the sleeping quarters.
Scalder combo is $4392 now. 2/27/23
How about the fox digging under it to get in, do you ever have a problem with that?
Very helpful, thank you
Jesus I just stared at eggs for 8 minutes in hopes of seeing the setup!
I put sand in a sardine can and the chicks ate it up like it was going out of style!
corona death... ha ha ha ha.
Meat is great and I do it for myself. Usually about 10-11 birds 4 times a year. I just processed the second half (5) or my first 2024 batch last weekend and already ordered batch 2 for months end, since I wanted to get a few New Hampshire roos for breeding. However, if I was going to do something with the chickens for money, it would be eggs. It is so much less work and so much more money for the time investment. 300 birds, est 112 dozen per week @ $6 each is $672 per week. $26,800 per year for a *40 week year only* to account for winter slow down and other issues. Divide that by 2 for the first year infrastructure (which is way over estimated if you don't buy a tractor or 4 wheeler to move the mobile coop every few days) and initial pullet cost: You are looking at a first year profit of 13.4K. Second year is ~23K. This is also for 300 laying hens, so the same number of birds. Only goes up from here by adding birds. Even doubling this to 600 hens, this could be managed by ONE person spending about 4 hours a day tending, collecting. packaging and selling from a self-service stand.
Can we sell self processed chicken in Michigan? I want to but thought they had to be butchered by a usda facility
Was labor included as a cost somewhere?
Great video! Tell parker i said hi! 👋
Have you ever had problems with bears?
That was awesome....Thanks
I want to do an external rollaway but I need to come up with someway to insulate it for Canadian winters. The lid gets awfully thick with two layers a wood and 2” of rigid insulation. Frozen eggs are not good.
Interesting thanks
No more videos?
Am I correct that you got $24.80 on average per chicken?
I get $20.00 each for my chickens.
