I think the Tempest and Ta 152 were completely different planes. The victory over the Tempest was only because the Tempest pilot was inexperienced. Let's remember that in the same fight another Tempest had shot down a Ta 152 a moment earlier. Of course, at a higher altitude the Tempest had no chance.

But the people it does show have clicked it on it at a higher than average amount for my channel. It should be asked why it was developed too late instead, not how it could have been developed. Germany had a fine aircraft industry before and during the war, no reason why they should no be able to build great potentially war winning aircraft. The important answer lies in why the TA152 only was delivered in January 1945. Because it was ordered and conceived too late. Why?

My experiences with the Grifon, both flying and dogfighting with it, is that it performs awfully in a turn compared with the mark five and nine. I personally hate flying it. Sacrifices everything that makes a Spitfire a Spitfire for high altitude speed. I haven't even been able to finish the Her Majesties Grifon campaign because I keep getting slaughtered by K4 and D9's. I have no issues turning inside of one in a 109G or any of the 190's. Ta152 runs rings around it.

Hans-Joachim Jabs (Pronounced "Yarbs"), was a German military officer and fighter "Ace" in WWII. Jabs was one of the few pilots in WWII that had success in two different types of aircraft being used for two totally different purposes. Jabs joined the Luftwaffe in 1936 as a Fahnenjunker (Equivalent to an E-5 Sergeant) at the age of 19. Upon graduating, he served briefly (two months) as a bomber pilot before going to conversion training as a fighter pilot. He successfully completed the conversion training and was posted to a unit that flew the ME109, the emerging premier fighter aircraft in the world at that point in time. His unit was then selected to convert to the new ME110 twin engined "heavy" fighter or what Germany deemed as a "Destroyer" aircraft. Many German Luftwaffe High Command personnel including Hermann Goring believed that the ME110 would be the backbone of Germany's air force, even over the ME109 Fighter, thus the majority of funding in the development of fighter aircraft went to the ME110 over the ME109, much to the dismay of fighter commanders such as Adolf Galland, who knew the ME109 was superior over the ME110 in dog fights and shooting down four engined allied bombers. Jabs had been trained in bombers, fighters, and now heavy fighters and was an exceptional pilot and air tactician. Jabs would use surprise, height, and position of favor being launching an attack against another aircraft. Pilots knew the ME110 was inferior to Spitfires, Hurricanes, and other single engine monoplane fighter aircraft of that era, however, these aircraft were still none the less used for combat missions for the entire six years of WWII in almost every area of the european battlefields. ME110's (and the later variants up to the successful but lacking in numbers ME410 "Hornet") were seen in the sky's throughout Europe until the later days of the war when they were seen far less often due to fuel shortages, parts not being available to fix broken or battle damaged aircraft, and also lack of experienced pilot's to fly them. Training on the ME110 was more extensive than the single engined aircraft and only the most capable pilot trainee's were selected for twin engined aircraft training. Jabs would either hunt "free hunting" (a method many German pilot's preferred), or he would be sent to an area by an air traffic controller/radar controlled situation rooms with large amounts of highly trained personnel assigned plotting the fighters to intercept points using sophisticated radar technology of that era and maps/plotting boards) in order to shoot down the incoming bombers and the fighters that were protecting them. Jabs would sometimes engage in head-on attacks, often engaging in a deadly and dangerous game of "chicken" with his enemy opponent. Jabs survived WWII and became a successful businessman after the war. He would frequently attend re-gatherings of old WWII fighter "aces" and befriended many of his opponent pilots from the Allied nations after the war, including John Caulton whom he shot down in a head-on attack over Jab's airfield when he was returning from a mission. Caulton survived being shot down, and was quickly captured by the German forces. Jabs visited Caulton at a military base he had been brought to immediately after being captured in order to meet the brave pilot who almost shot him down over his own airfield. Jabs even gave the allied pilot a hand written note to prove the two had met and even wrote on the note asking any German who found the note, to allow Caulton to keep it in his possession. Caulton kept the note. Caulton had been just seconds away from shooting down Jabs in the encounter, but Jabs, being the more experienced pilot, was able to outwit his opponent in a daring head-on attack with both planes barrelling at each other at over 300+ MPH each! Jabs and Caulton both opened up with their guns at each other while flying head-on, but Jab's bullets and cannon shells disabled Caulton's plane and he was shot down. Jab's landed safely, although his aircraft had also sustained damage. The meeting of Jabs and Caulton was captured by German military propaganda photographers.

Hi, thank you for the polite disagreement. I will respond in kind politely. Every claim in the video is sourced from Donald Caldwell's book JG/26 Top Gun's Of the Luftwaffe. He is a highly respected and authoritative source on the subject matter and has published numerous books on the Luftwaffe and whose research is predicated on the idea that both sides over claimed their victories and under claimed their losses. As such, he only publishes a claim if he can verify it's veracity against the other sides documented losses or victories. Hence, you may see some discrepancy with other sources. His book was endorsed by Adolf Galland himself in the foreward as being an accurate accounting of JG/26. If you believe you have a more accurate and authoritative source then by all means share it with us so we can all benefit from the knowledge.
