Don't let this happen to your pond

Black, or dark water can easily be avoided as long as you get your net on early before the leaves fall, and (the most important) you stop them from weighing it down, dipping into the water.
The Search for Angel Falls

Thanks for joining us on another adventure. This time it's to Angel Falls PA. What looked like a short hike from the parking lot to the falls turned into a 3 hour hike up and down through the woods. The trail head was difficult to find, but the hike was well worth it. If you plan on visiting Angel Falls I recommend early spring or fall, before the leaves are fully on the trees. These two items will help you automate your pond maintenance. Not only giving you a live temperature reading on the fly, you can turn air pumps, lights, or any other thing you can plug in on and off. Schedule to turn fountains or waterfalls on only when you are present to cut down on energy costs. Turn your aerators on to help cool down your pond when it reaches a certain temperature.

Using a leaf net over your pond... Into winter we go
Good video. Just add a float switch to save the pump. I do on all my larger pumps. Pays for itself first time it runs low on water. What is a $30 float switch to a $100 pump?
What does a float switch do?
@@BecJonesAus Water gets low it shuts the pump off.
@@basilkey2949 oh yes that’s a great idea
Really quite a nice project, but I believe that the stream should be 2.5 x longer, for effective Scale within the Landscape (yard). The Trees really add a lot.
You ruined it with the coloured lights. Now it doesn’t look natural anymore 😳
You’re not supposed to clean that filter off with the hose you’re supposed to clean it off with pond water for the reason being is the bacteria grows on that and that’s what it eats the nitrate and nitrates, and your hose has chlorine in it, and that kills the bacteria
How strong is the pump that you used on this project? Also, please tell me about the liner that you used.
PLEASE DO NOT ADD MUSIC TO ANY DIY VIDEO. RUINED WITH EXCESSIVE SOUND. UNWATCHABLE.
How much it will cost
How is the tree doing after having such a large root cut?
It's thriving stronger and healthier than ever!
I have a bunch of bamboo in my back yard and the roots is a network underground. I cant dig because the ground is to hard and compact because of those roots. I need an above ground reservoir- Any ideas?
Why is it in the ground.. how did that hold up
Omg! What’s her sign!?😂
I need a nap. Kudos for seeing it through to the end. You had a vision and it happened. Cheers
Yes
How do u add automatic water filler
Do you run the water out for winter? I live in Wisconsin, the water freezes here.
Is there a way to clean or disinfect these for the birds?
Can you tell me a/b your water fall? It's fantastic.
I was thinking a milk crate in a lined hole with a screen over it to hold the smaller rocks. Has to be cheaper!
Yes, the fastest way is to hire a professional 😂😂😂😂😂
“They scream elegance and class” 😂😂😂 It’s pretty but it’s just a rock with some water on it.
You're not wrong! lol!
won't all that dead rotting algae now throw off the pond balance?
Most of it winds up in the skimmer box
What pump are you using?
it's a variable speed pump, with a max flow rate of about 3000 GPH
It looks real, and that is priceless!!!
Thank you.
Well done
Thanks!
Cool man I like you're making videos on your koi pond keep them coming 👍
Thanks 👍
Very informative learned a few thinks
Glad to hear it!
Instead of that pipe/bucket combo, use an old plastic milk crate. Just turn it upside down and boom, you got a housing for your pump. You can run your piping through it and put rocks on top and it won't bother your pump set up one bit. And regardless of any of that, your end product turned out spectacular!
That's great advice. I will do that the next time I do a clean out on the stream. Thanks!
Very serene ,beautiful
It really is!
Lovely video. I'm making a stream in my garden
Good luck with your project!
I I have a Doberman
I've got a question if you don't have any Outlets can you do something with a solar panel or something period and would you happen to know of any you can use with a solar panel
I don't have much experience with solar panels, but I'm sure there are some on the market that would work. You would have to do some research to see which would work best for your application.
You could tie a mesh bag in that pump
Or put the whole bucket in a mesh bag.
Those plastic AquaBasins start at, like, $300!!! Nice that it can hold some weight -- and I assume long lasting? -- but ridiculously overpriced.
Yes, they are pricey. If look around you may be able to find a more cost affective alternative.
I hated the look of pond foam I used on my waterfall. I took a propane torch and heated it after it dried. It melted the top so that it looked natural and blended with the rock.
Thats a great idea, I've heard of people doing that. Does it blend in better than the grey waterfall foam?
@@BackyardWaterGarden Yes
Awesome❤
Thanks!
What was the size of your liner and where did you get it?
The liner is 4' x 24'. It was a piece left over from a larger pond installation. It would have been thrown out if i didn't take it.
Nice work. A good down to earth video and water feature. Good to have a helper. I'm redoing my waterfall feature for the tenth time in that many years. Always have a problem losing more water than is acceptable. I have a couple helpers (if I can separate them from the computer games). My 15 year old grandson and his friend, both bigger and stronger than I am. Not because I'm old (I am but won't admit it) but because they will help save my back.
Wow, your pond expanded!
thanks man
Koi are getting new friends
Do birds and wildlife use the stream? I want to help my local birds
Yes, they are drawn to moving water. They show up to bathe in the pond waterfall, and in the rock fountain.
Yes
The best part of this video is the ominous "death is at hand" background music you've got going on 😂
Will the Chinese algae eater survive over winter in a pond?
Love this. I want to do something similar in front house going to a koi pond of to the side it will start by porch as a waterfall thwn kind of s curve before going around to corner section Also plan to.make it mini rc crawler friendly:p
You left a tub in the woods? Isn’t there a landfill site in your region? Properly Disposing of unwatered anything is the responsible thing to do. Do the creatures in the woods dump their trash in your backyard? What is wrong with people? What a poor and lazy example to set for your children!
Dog lives you. I’m just putting in my first garden pond and hope to limit my mistakes. I’m actually marathoning your Videos to get a better grasp on the subject. I’m impressed with your content and hope to see more of the same. Your co content producer seems to be a happy u tuber

You need a splash apron so you can turn it on stronger
Something seriously wrong with the title.
