Incredibly well-presented strategies for managing a classroom.
Thank you for watching!
Brilliantly presented management techniques.
Thank you!
Very good suggestions. In September, I'll be substituting for the first time. I appreciate your ideas and help. Will I need to know how to operate a SmartBoard?
Usually there is a student or a neighbor teacher that can help you operate the SmartBoard if needed. But hopefully teachers understand that not everyone knows how to operate one and leaves it out of lesson plans. Let me know if you have any more questions!
These classroom procedures are spot-on for effective management.👍
Thank you!
Love the focus on effective procedures. These will help keep my classroom organized and focused.
Thank you! Good luck this school year!
Thanks for the tips and suggestions! I'm switching careers from working in Corporate America for 20 years (digital and web) and transitioning to becoming a teacher in ATL area. I'm getting my master's in teaching and have never stepped foot in a classroom before as a sub teacher. My first assignment is next week (I am getting my master's in secondary education, 6-12 grade in history). So, I'm focusing on middle school subbing and high school, I've heard the horror stories of subbing in middle school, and it petrifies me, and I'm a nervous wreck. I hope it goes well enough, but I know won't be a breeze!
Congrats and hold on, it's going to be a wild ride!! Be genuine, yet firm and don't be hard on yourself if the lesson plan goes off the rails! Reach out if you have any questions!
HEY LYXBAG !! I have been watching you for years and im so proud of where you have made it! I love you so much! Also thanks for making my day.
Thank you! I appreciate your kinds words! 😀

Should I also walk around in a high school class? Talking to high school students sometimes get me blank faces, like "why are you bothering me?". Usually in high school classes, I would sit most of the time, not because I just want to babysit but because it seems that's what I must do. Also should I also introduce yourself to high schoolers (11 and 12 grades) as Mr. Sean or just Sean? Thank you.
I would still do it. They would think that you are annoying but I would do it in moderation. I always have my students call me Ms. Cole which is my last name. Always stay professional and in authority, once that goes out the window then you lose control of the classroom.
@@TeachLikeBianca Yes, the last part is true. I learned it the hard way but in middle school. I was stricter the next day. I'll do the same for high school. My last name is Hein, pronounced Hain, not Hine, and I was lazy to explain that and Sean was easier but I'll do that.
How long were you on crutches?
I was on crutches for 6 weeks. Then I started putting wait on my foot with the boot.
@@TeachLikeBianca Did you get pretty good on your crutches?
@@wadehamlin yes, it took me about an evening to get use to, especially after the pain went away.
@@TeachLikeBianca were you fast on them?
@@wadehamlin lol not too fast
Was this treehouse by chance built by Pete Nelson (of the Treehouse Masters TV-show)? I ask, because I believe that his business is based in Redmond, Wa.
Yes it was!
How can u prepare for your first day of substituting ?
First, watch the video in the pinned comment! But if you can observe classrooms ahead of time in the building that would work well. Understand the discipline policies of the school and the overall routines and procedures. Also, bring some coloring sheets or some "busy work" for students just in case there are early finishers, mostly the early finishers can cause disruption to other students so give some for students to do just in case the teacher doesn't have anything provided. Let me know if you have any more questions!

I broke my fibula about 2 months ago, it sucks!
I hope it’s getting better for you!
The state, province, or canton varies a lot. From my school run out of Ontario, Canada to Tulsa, Wichita, Los Angeles, and British Columbia. Protocols in some state/provinces/cantons and Districts are very well laid out and clear. Others? Not so much.
This is true!
Hey, I broke my Fibula almost 2 weeks ago. Didn’t need an operation. Got my walking boot 3 days ago. I still walk with 2 scratches, and just a little bit like 10 steps. In 4.5 weeks, have you walked normally already?
I don't start walking somewhat normal until around the 8 week mark.
This is my first year having a para in my classroom with me. I’m just trying to figure out how to be a good teacher/para team with them. Thank you
I’m getting started my first job is this week
What did you use for the swelling?
I just elevated my leg day and night, for about 6 weeks. I had ice packs for the first few days. I would still get swelling for at least 4 months after the injury.
I like that bag. Where did u get it from???
When we had a subtute we were only ten elevan we had this coubord in the hall way the whole class cramped in the coubord as soon as we got out we just called our parents we so over reacted
I can't get kids to be quiet while taking roll and giving out the assignments. I now grab a desk next to the door and greet the students as I'm taking roll. Seems to work.
I start nxt week. I'm kindof nervous
Thank you for these
They just emailed me today about this position ,I applied for sub assistant /sub teacher but they gave me sub teacher ,I ended up anxious this evening of hat to do next .
Hopefully the video helped! Do you have any questions about anything? Most of the time, kids are just interested in you! So tell them about yourself before delivering any instruction.
Great tips except for the "busy work". If you're in my room there will be actual plans with relevant and rigorous work as I don't believe in busy work. But having it in case the teacher left you NOTHING is not a bad idea.
Hello, you are right. This is just usually for early finishers.
I recovered from a bimalleolar fracture about 2 years ago going the non surgical route. Received most of my calcium by eating Bulgarian yogurt daily. I’m back to 100% with little to no lingering effects on my ankle.
Dealing with that now. I was told I don’t need surgery but surgery is best because I could have arthritis problems in the future without surgery. Since you went the non surgical route does your ankle swell or hurt at all, also how long for it to heal 100%
Wow, thanks for the comment. I couldn’t believe how great my ankle feels 18 months out. Glad you made a full recovery.
@@ThatsbyJOY Was told the same about possible arthritis by my doctor as well. Never any swelling but did have constant pain for up to a year. Ive been building strength in my ankle ever since by walking/jogging. Do get some phantom pains once in a while but its few and far between .
If you are a teacher with a masters or doctorate degree you should be making 100K as teachers and staff work long hours unpaid on weekends and over the summer just to be disrespected for little money. Do the math.
We should, but not always the case.
