Great video. I’m also interested in that co-pilot knife. Is that a special ‘holster’ for it, or does it come with the knife? Thanks!

Own this boat, seat is decent but take extra padding for extra comfort on long days. Everything else is great for fishing. Also recommend getting larger anchor if you use it often. Great boat overall & catch them on sale for the best deal.

You keep saying you dont lose bed space, but you literally do.. as well as not being able to swing and open it if you have anything literally in the back half..

I was lucky enough to snag up this one in black and white for $600. I weight 200lbs and maybe have 10-12lbs of gear and my dog. It did great and honestly I really liked it. I just want to make a solid trailer for it because its not going up on my vehicle haha.

Hi While watching your video, you mentioned a larger handle for lifting the back of your yak. You might want to consider buying Hobie PA rear handle from ACK and installing onto your kayak, I think it is very doable.

  • @JonBecker81

Very cool. I’ll probably get one for my ranger. Do you not worry about water getting trapped under your bed liner and causing rust from where you cut out that hole?

If you want to reduce the number of keys you carry. Look into the lock company called BOLT Locks online you can order, hitch locks, padlocks, cable locks and many more that are keyed to Your truck ignition key

I know the pain. Literally oftentimes. I’ll throw out a few other possible options for guys in the same situation if they are thinking of other brands/styles. Maui Jim makes the Big Wave. They are REALLY big. They also have the World Cup (which is sort of similar to the Fuel Cell style wise). Then there is also the Red Sands, Southern Cross, and Local Kine. Listed biggest to “smallest”. All of them fit me though, but not much wiggle room for the Local Kine (though it works better for me than the slightly larger Southern Cross. The Southern Cross wants to rest on my cheeks instead of my nose). Costa has the Permit and Fisch. They make an XL version of a few frames, but I found that the Freg XL did not fit me well at all. What DID fit perfectly, to my surprise, is the new Fantail Pro. NOT the regular Fantail, but the Fantail Pro. It’s not as big as the Permit or Fisch though. Ray Ban makes certain aviators in a 62mm lens option. They are pretty big. Here’s where it gets dicey: people have asked about Wayfarers. Ray Ban, as of 2021, makes at least 4 different Wayfarer models. The “Original Wayfarer” comes in 52mm and 54mm - neither of which fit me well. They also make a Wayfarer II and Wayfarer Ease. I have no experience with those two models. Finally there is the “New Wayfarer” (even though it’s older than the “Ease” and “II” models). It comes in 52mm, 55mm, and as of recently 58mm lenses. The 55mm will actually fit me, but there is no room to spare. So the 58mm should fit a pretty big mellon. Again, this is the “New Wayfarer” RB2132. For reference, I wear a 7 & 5/8 to 7 & 7/8 hat. I have one of those heads that gets bigger around temple level though. So it’s harder to find shades than hats for me. For someone with an 8+ noggin, out of the ones I’ve mentioned, I’d say start with the Big Wave, Permit, New Wayfarer 58mm, or Aviator 62mm. Those are probably the surest bets size wise, but spread out from there if none of them float your boat style wise.

For the top lid , just change the sides and rotate the main hinge and install the box on opposite side and the lid will open the other way that’s what I did for my truck.but for that you will need both sides left and right, they will rotate , and I think you could just rotate the lid , I did it the hard way.

Maybe for your case if you had a right side bolted onto the left side it could open tho opposite direction. But that would complicate things when swun out and I'm not sure how the latch on bottom would work if it would.

  • @gregcrabb3497

I'd like to have one myself but I just think they are waaaay too pricey for the little bit of plastic that they are. Had one for a Silverado about nineteen years ago but it didn't swing out...and it was less than a hundred dollars...and I could decide how I wanted the lid to swing.

Thanks for mentioning two do not swing open at the same time. Wasn't aware of that. Think I'm still going to go for two. Only issue I see is they block the front tiedowns but seems easy enough to remove.

Looks like if you opened one all the way where it swings past the tailgate then you could open the other one. 🤷🏻
