    I'm glad you made this video. The instructions tell me to cut a huge section from my bed liner. Now I know it's not necessary. Thanks.

    I was looking at one, but wasnt sure if it would work with a drop in liner. Now i know and will buy one soon.

    For the top lid , just change the sides and rotate the main hinge and install the box on opposite side and the lid will open the other way that’s what I did for my truck.but for that you will need both sides left and right, they will rotate , and I think you could just rotate the lid , I did it the hard way.

    If you want to reduce the number of keys you carry. Look into the lock company called BOLT Locks online you can order, hitch locks, padlocks, cable locks and many more that are keyed to
    Your truck ignition key

    @wesleyshafer6310 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Maybe for your case if you had a right side bolted onto the left side it could open tho opposite direction. But that would complicate things when swun out and I'm not sure how the latch on bottom would work if it would.

  • @JonBecker81

    Very cool. I’ll probably get one for my ranger. Do you not worry about water getting trapped under your bed liner and causing rust from where you cut out that hole?

  • @LarryB
    @LarryB 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for mentioning two do not swing open at the same time. Wasn't aware of that. Think I'm still going to go for two. Only issue I see is they block the front tiedowns but seems easy enough to remove.

    • @JonBecker81
      @JonBecker81 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Looks like if you opened one all the way where it swings past the tailgate then you could open the other one. 🤷🏻

      I don't recall because the screws were included with the box, which was nice. It's held up great. I keep a tow chain and a bunch if ratchet and bungee straps in there. Probably my favorite accessory.

    They should design it to have left and right swing open and use as table and lock together. Or design it to run along the wheel well and swing open to width of bed

    I'd like to have one myself but I just think they are waaaay too pricey for the little bit of plastic that they are. Had one for a Silverado about nineteen years ago but it didn't swing out...and it was less than a hundred dollars...and I could decide how I wanted the lid to swing.

  • @carlosrodriguezsoroa5354

  • @Coffeebourne

    I saw one of these at the local truck supply store. I love the concept and the plastic construction doesn’t bother me. But it is overpriced for the size. If it was two for $200, I would consider it. But it is tiny.

    • @chipweingart5204
      @chipweingart5204 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The point of the size and design is to fits behind the wheel well, not extend into the bed to regain cargo capacity and height is below the bed side so if a person (like myself) has a tonneau or hard bed cover fits. Moving on...

  • @supporterofsanity
    @supporterofsanity 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does this protrude into the bed further than the wheel well? Curious If I can still stack sheets of plywood in the bed.

    • @derrickdilts8385
      @derrickdilts8385 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I still stack 4' sheets with the box in. If I'm going super-high I still take it out just so I have a place for my hand when grabbing to remove, but it will fit.

    • @derrickdilts8385

      I wash my truck every couple weeks and they stay pretty clean. The drink holder holes are open contoured, so they don't hold water. There is a long trough closer to the edge of the truck bed that does hold water, but if you open the lid it just dumps out (and importantly, NOT into the toolbox itself.) I've been really happy with this thing still. It hasn't broken, is easy to remove when I want to, and holds my hitch, a handful of ratchet straps, and a tow strap. I'd buy it again. People below have commented that it's "plastic" or "cheap" or yada yada. To that, I say, yeah, it is, and it was pretty inexpensive and works well. It's not a contractor piece of equipment, but man it's handy.

      Looks like itll fit in the bed but it covers a tie down point. You arnt securing down the rear end. Guess if you have a big enough bed it wont be so bad but still should tie the rear end down. You can take it on and off i guess but that defeats the whole thing now your storing that thing somewhere which will probably be a bit heavy full

      I bet. I have since traded this truck for a 2019 F250 and I bought another one. People gripe that its plastic or not big enough, etc, etc. Respectfully, I think they're missing the point of the box and the price. For a couple hundred bucks I get to keep my straps and hitch receiver dry and out of my cab. It's a great product. No, it's not steel and it's not large enough to hold any decent sized tool box. It also doesn't fly, make omelets, or cure cancer, but then again I didn't expect it to when I bought it. 🤷‍♂️

      It would have to be a small one. I honestly would not recommend it for something like that. I just traded in the truck in this video about 2 weeks ago and got a new truck and immediately ordered the exact same tool Box from these guys again so it's not that I don't like it. I love this thing. But I really only use it to hold my hitch ball and straps and a chain. It's perfect for that.

  • @countyboy2874

    What size of padlock are you using I wasted $20 on a Bolt lock thinking it would work but it wouldn’t? Wanted to order something off of Amazon but don’t want to order the wrong one again.

    • @derrickdilts8385
      @derrickdilts8385 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's just a medium keyed masterlock. To be honest, I rarely use it. The tailgate on my Ram locks with the doors, so you can't undo the swing. If you can't swing it out, you can't lift it off the hinge (and as such don't need the lock).
