I’ve watched all of your videos and they have been very helpful. You seem to know a lot about spektrum radios. This is a radio question for turbines. A friend of mine suggested I set the throttle trim so that it acts like a three position switch. So that if shuts down your turbine faster? He uses a different radio system and didn’t know how do do it with spektrum. Thanks for your help
Hi Jeff! Would you do a video on the ix20 and the telemetry and any data logging capabilities that can be used with turbines? I’m looking to upgrade from an nx10 and also get into turbine. FrSky and others seem to have data logging and “telemetry” that some say is years ahead of spektrum but I’d prefer to stay with spektrum.
How about making a video showing how to set up telemetry between a Swiwin 80 and a power safe Rx, with a IX20Tx. This seems to be hard to get it to work.
I don’t have any trouble charging my iX14. I mostly leave it in sleep mode and charge it using a 6’ USB cable. I tried using the magnetic cable that came with it a few times and didn’t like it. My battery seldom goes below 80%. I mostly charge from a USB port on my computer because I use ScrCpy to operate my iX14 thru my computer.
thanks for the video jeff. ive done it wqron g for some time until i found out how by myself and yes i use the same type amazon plug also. my question to you is it ok to leave the radio charge overnight. im afraid of overcharging.
Thanks for the video most of which I was aware of, my issue is that no matter the time it is on charge I have yet to see the battery indicate 100%, indeed whith each consecutive power off and then powering on the indicator shows many differing charge states. Also, I noticed that your battery indicator was varying substantially throughout the video, is this normal with this radio or does it indicate that I have an issue with my Tx, I purchased mine nearly four years ago as well and have always been wary of the battery state?
Thanks for watching, Mine does vary some about 10% but when it is on steady it does settle down. Be sure it have your radio up to date because some time ago this was addressed. Also there is a difference from the Android side to the Airware this is normal but gets talked about a lot.
@@jeffholsinger3356 Thanks for the reply Jeff, my radio does have the latest iteration but does still behave as I desribed, I am sure its not going to just shut off but it is a little disconcerning, I am seriously thinking about purchasing the iX14.
Great video Jeff as always when Jeff says he’ll be helpful. He means it. He took some time with me at Joe Nall and looked over my Mb339 for me although I still haven’t flown it yet. I take every word that he says as good advice and put it in my artillery of learning skills. Thanks again, Jeff.
A word of warning. Black heat shrink tubing that you use on your antenna has been shown to be somewhat opaque to radio waves compared to clear or other coloured heat shrink as it contains carbon black. It may not block RF completely, but it can reduce it. 🇦🇺
The 9020 will work, xplus will not work. It will work with a dx radio if you change the mode in the frame rate screen. Xplus not compatible with ix series.
For anyone reading this that has this airframe(MB 339) One can absolutely use a bigger size turbine than the K85+. In my case a Jetcat P130 RX. Not that I want to speed and show off, I had the engine to begin with and no plane for it so I tried it and it works. With proper throttle management. The diameter should be under 100mm for sure! and make sure the exhaust fits properly into the bellmouth of the thrust tube. Also keep in mind it's wood/balsa so not exactly the sturdiest and a big engine will rip it apart especially with high G maneuvers and tight turns with high thrust will destroy this MB 339, even though it is 2meter wingspan, it's not that tough. So careful with the throttle when using anything bigger than the K86+ G4. Have fun I certainly am with this awesome airplane, flys and looks great IMHO👍
Can you explain to me this question I noticed that no one has made a video explaining about these receivers going bad and if these receivers have some kind of an expiration date because I have two receivers that have all of a sudden stopped working no led light flashes and the thing is they have been working perfectly for over 15 flights now all of a sudden I go to turn my plane on and it stopped working so I plugged up a new receiver and it works fine so I know it’s getting power so why is this happening this is the second receiver I’ve had to go bad in two different planes I’ve googled the problem and no one wants to touch on this subject now I don’t wanta lose my expensive plane while flying can you explain this matter or make a video touching on this subject please
Hey Jeff great video. I am assuming these are JP brakes? I wonder if they sell screws as this is a wear item. I am also sure its rare for someone to actually wear these screws down as most people don't get more than 50 flights on a jet let alone 200 LOL.
Hello Jeff from Team Horizon. I’ve been flying Jets for several years, using the SPM9574 airspeed sensor. It’s works extremely well, however is now discontinued, due to the supplier, Eagle Tree, now defunct. Can you talk to/convince HH to get a new supplier?, or get with me with contact with the individuals who made this part. The airspeed voice announcement from the radio is extremely valuable for flying turbine jets, especially for landing approach. We very much need this airspeed sensor available again.
I did my CG with kitchen scales and good old fashioned math. I was shooting for 5.5" CG and I'll be adding 300 grams tomorrow to the nose good lord. They should have just recommended bigger batteries. I purchased the recommended bats.
Very informative video, thanks for uploading. You have done a great job setting up your Pro R. Any way you could post the details of your Amazon purchases? Just bought a Pro R and I would like to get the same chase lights, LED light bar, turn signal kit with bubble lights, and switch package. Thanks again.
Hi, Here are the parts Aux Things 38in 180 watt light bar, Nilight 6 pc ATV UTV Rocker Sw. Hanvate universal ATV, UTV turn signal kit. True Mod 35 inch off road Chase light. All from Amazon. All Tusk parts came from Rocky Mt. off road. Hope this helps
Thank you very much for taking the time to put this video tutorial together! 😊 Thumbs-up for your video 👍🏾 Have a great rest of your day 😁 Greetings from Douglas, Arizona 🌵 🦠 😷 🇵🇷 Like#31
Hope to see a review for spektrum DSMXs receivers from basic to advanced (cheaper to more expensive). Also, Also, what are your thoughts of best value for money spektrum rx (without gyro). Thanks
I don't think you can IX Series radio files to the NX series radios file format in The IX series ispm and file format in the NX series is SPM but I don't think you can go from ispm to SPM like you can SPM to ixpm. But I may be wrong never have tried that yet
Can't believe I didn't know this already! I had a gallon of nitro some years ago but got rid of it. I'll have to get a pint somewhere. Thanks a million, Jeff!
I use a good quality Servo tape or Gorilla Tape and once they're in for just a little while they're very difficult to get out. They are Gen 2 smartpaks so doesn't require a balancing lead to charge
Very odd comment on the flame outs. Never had this happen to me flying multiple different turbine jets (new and rebuilds from 3kg till 14kg thrust) for 7 years... nice jet none the less. Enjoy
When you say, "smaller turbine jets", are you including EDFs or are you strictly referring to "True Turbines"? Just curious.
Only turbines

It is under the trim set up in you radio I like the 3 pos. my selft
Can you please tell me how can I delete the model on IX transmitter?

Can you share the link for the USB cable?
What should the battery voltage read when fully charged. Thanks

Glad to hear it's working good for you that's the kind of battery life we should all be able to get

Yes , It has a bulilt in safety circuit.

One of these days people are going to wake up and realize the advantages to Electric Power!.. .

The tail pipe really does like any thing bigger than the 85 , The plane and safety is at risk with a bigger turbine,
Will a 100N turbine be ok? As folks say 85N be the max However I already have a 100N engine, so I would like to use it for the Horizon Hobbies MB-339.
Naptha is also called White Gas.
You should also mention that the micro fiber cloths are great for cleaning!

No time limit on receivers Electronics don't wear out but can fail for some unknown reason .

Wondering how you wired your chase light?
Great info thanks
Where's Part 1 ?
Another comment, I usually use the ar630, ar631 or the ar8360 all come with asx. This means I don't need to use any of the above gadgets, right?!
Thanks Jeff. Would be nice to make a similar video on head tracker, with demonstration on how to set it up. Thanks
Hello! Wondering if you're interested in reviewing our RZR PRO accessories?
Yea, please e mail @ jeffn8jfa@aol.com

I use the GPS or Sky ID for speed now, They will no longer make the sensor now.
My dsm2 11x transmitter binds with my 12120x only reciever just fine Jeff so........?
Thanks for shearing all that valuable information with us!!

@@jeffholsinger3356 that helps so much... Thanks!
You are soon to be a TH-cam star🎉 great video 👍
Don't fly turbines, but this was 100% perfection.
Physically the same size as a k85 but definitely not needed or recommended in this airplane
Thats a nice jet, how you liking the Kingtech Turbine so far ?
They work great Price and service is realy good.I currently have 11 of them
Really informative ,,thanks for all the advice

CAN you transfer from a 1x series to the Nx series
Looks like the stock opening is about 72 mm but could be cut out and enlarged to slightly over 90 mm hope this helps
Can I ask you what the exit diameter of the rear fuse is? I’m trying to see if it’s worth converting to edf. Need minimum of 105mm
Can't believe I didn't know this already! I had a gallon of nitro some years ago but got rid of it. I'll have to get a pint somewhere. Thanks a million, Jeff!

How did you tie the batteries in Jeff? Thanks
SPEKTRUM IS TRASH GUYS .. go with an open source remote like a radiomaster tx12 or similar
Thank you so much for all the info Jeff, truly appreciate you taking the time to make this video and helping us us out
I’ve never used flight modes but used the flap system trim set up. This is so much easier. Thanks
Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!! This is great information for us guys considering turbine jets.
