A word of warning. Black heat shrink tubing that you use on your antenna has been shown to be somewhat opaque to radio waves compared to clear or other coloured heat shrink as it contains carbon black. It may not block RF completely, but it can reduce it. 🇦🇺
Hope to see a review for spektrum DSMXs receivers from basic to advanced (cheaper to more expensive). Also, Also, what are your thoughts of best value for money spektrum rx (without gyro). Thanks
Very informative video, much appreciated. I'm looking into getting a remote receiver for my plane and was wondering if you have any experience with the SPM4651T that has two antennas and the SPM9747 which doesn't have antennas ? Is the SPM4651T worth the extra money and placement difficulty versus the one without the antennas in your experience ? If you had to buy one of both which one would you buy ?
Great stuff Jeff, unfortunatley in the uk the new NX radios will only speak in DSMX protocol :( great explantation though and what i wouldnt give for one of those AR10100T receivers here in uk ... sold out everywhere
Wow this is so complicated nowadays. I bought a used DX 8 and it is gen 1 :( only DSM2 on the Transmitter and it had the Spektrum 6945 Sats 2x. It says online that these are not capable of DSM2 and can only be used with DSMX. So there are different Sats out there it seems. Some capable of DSM2 and DSMX and the older ones only DSMX or DSM2.
Is anyone running an SPMAR630 (wireless antenna) receiver with the newer style SPM4651T (SRLX2) remote receiver? There's a port on the rx for this remote which binds and appears to work just fine.
Wow! nice to know. I've been out of RC for a few years and just getting back In . So much has changed, it is hard to keep up. Thanks
Nice meeting you at JOH 2023 Jeff! I know this video is a year old but it's content was perfect for a guy that just bought a iX20! Bert
Nice job Jeff! Hopefully this will help clear some of the misconceptions about what will work with what. 😉
Hi Jeff I have the New ix 14 spectrum Transmitter. Can I use a spectrum AR 9020 DSM X plus receiver with 2 Satellites.
A word of warning.

Good stuff Jeff
Does this technology seem ridiculously complicated to anybody besides me? I just want to fly.
As with any technology things are constantly evolving take cell phones for instant new cell phone new technology every few months
Seems pretty simple to me
SPEKTRUM IS TRASH GUYS .. go with an open source remote like a radiomaster tx12 or similar
