Qor Watercolors Part 3
มุมมอง 1232 ปีที่แล้ว
I'm testing Qor watercolors on different types of paper: 100% cellulose, 25% cotton, and 100% cotton hot and cold press and comparing to some of the other artist quality watercolor brands like Schmincke, Sennelier and White Nights. Royal Talens Cobra Water Mixable oils Review
Do the basics dry matte?
Nope, those are glossy.
Thank you! It seems like basics are a great starting point.
Where are you ??😊
i hate their cobalt blue, not opaque at all
Thank you!
@7:34 😮 blending stick is neat!
Hi Danny, where are you? Are you ok?
Could I ask which colors you used for the Amsterdam version of the painting?
Where are you? No news,?
Hi Danny, where are you?
You pull off the wrong side.
These Oil Pastels are appalling!
this music...I thought I was in skyrim for a minute
Is the paper treated with something? Looks like texture.
It’s a special oil paper, has this texture to it underneath, and it’s sealed on top. No need to do anything to it. Its not going to mold after a few years.
thank you for sharing
A lot of your concern regarding surface Sheen finish is not an inconsistency in the paint but instead differences between pigment properties
Where did this girl go? It's been a minute. Good vibes and wishing the best ❤
I have the same set😊 i havent opend it . Its a shame that it doesnt have gold, bronz silver and magenta 😊but i can use my himi miya gouache for those colours😊👍🏾✌🏾👋🏾 I like swamp green😊 its a pretty colour and i love magenta😁👍🏾✌🏾👋🏾 thank you for these colour swatches of the acrylic gouache brands
Very helpful video! Thank you.
Good thing that I only bought tiny Liquitex basics to try! But I don't prefer Amsterdam standard acrylics for my style of work. Pebeo Studio works best for me.
Watching you paint, it looks like their acrylics dry too quickly? btw, I just bought a couple of Amsterdam standard acrylics and the nozzles of the main tubes don't have any aluminum seal on it or any kind of seal at all. Is that okay or do you think these are fake?
Great comparison! Thank you, it was very helpful!
I’m on a limited income so I buy Liquitex basics.
The basics looks just as good as the professional in my opinion.
yes, add some thickening medium for impasto, lol or just use mont marte's dimension acrylics
you sound just like Hila Klein <3
:) I wish I was as successful 💕
Can I draw a sharp straight line with these using a ruler?
I haven’t tried, but you can probably use a ruler. The line doesn’t necessarily coming out uniform though and I usually smooth it out after I put it on.
You're not supposed to put that paint on your face.
It's not covering the line because you're using water, you genius!
A lot of people use Sennelier as the top layers of their paintings and will use other, dryer, brands underneath. I love these though, I won’t use anything else. As far as layer, it’s just a matter of practice. I think pressure has a lot to do with it. They’re so pigmented that you hardly have to press to get pay off, therefore, you’re not digging into the pigment underneath. They’re absolutely beautiful with solvents and mediums too. Oil pastels in general never set by the way. Either put them under glass or use a specific oil pastel fixitive. Sennelier has a phenomenal one.
These sure are interesting but wow your painting is so gorgeous 😍
I prefer Amsterdam, thank you
Dani - really beautiful art you created! Thanks for the review! 😊
❤❤❤
Self control …… 🤔what’s that🤣🤣🤣 Haven’t seen metallics in that size I am curious HIMI paint brushes are actually really good imo
Good day my friend and happy Friday ☀️🌞 to you! big hugs and support your channel! Thanks for sharing !!! Have a great weekend and Like #1 this was so much FUN my beautiful friend 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Hello there! If you could be so kind and tell me the name if the last color you swatched... the one that looks like a grey green. I want to check if they have that color in their professional line, to buy only that one, cause I have it on the Expressionist brand, but I want it more creamy, but I dont like it in Sennelier cause is too transparent, and Neopastels doesn't carry that color. Hope you can help me. Thanks in advance. 🥰
Hi, I think there is only one matching your description, it’s 46 grey green. Too bad neo pastels don’t have it, those are my favorite. Maybe check mungyo? But they have a little different feel.
@@artsymbol2560 mmmmm... you gave me the Grey Green 46 from Sennelier. I have that one. I was asking of a Grey Green in the Holbein brand you are reviewing.
I looked at Holbein, Sennelier probably has the same name then.
@@artsymbol2560 Well, thanks anyway. But Holbein (the Professional line that's the one that sells open stock) doesn't carry any color name grey green, nor green grey either. 😔 But again, thanks anyway.
Bummer, this one is the academy line of Holbein. Looks like in professional maybe foggy green 3? Did you look at that one?
This is really stunning ♡
Thank you so much!!!
you can also use a vegetable peeler to remove the top layer.
Hello hello, this is really beautiful. After all one might save paint also by going over acrylic underpainting?? Acrylic can be covered by anything right?. Have a good day!!
:) hi! Hmm I don’t know if pastels over acrylic is good idea. Acrylic dries to a slick film and getting pastels on it probably will be difficult I will kind of smear around and will not set. You can do oil paint on top of acrylics, it does set and can create cool effects and soften edges. You can use them on top of watercolor more successfully in my opinion and use rough paper so it’s easier to get pigment off onto the paper
@@artsymbol2560 Thank you Danie, it is really true watercolor is the best medium to paint pastel on! Not too wet though. Thank you!
A number of Caran d'Ache products are available in my city, but not Neopastel :( But, we have excellent distributor of Mungyo and Sennelier oil pastels, and I can buy sticks (even Mungyo) open box, too. Anyhow, it was a joy to watch your demo.
Thank you for watching. I love mungyo however I always say, it acts a little different from oil pastels. I feel like all colors are opaque and consistent. But they set to powdery finish, you can still work on top of it. Sennelier is more like true oil pastel, but, different colors have different opacity, more like other mediums. I think Sennelier is more packed with pigment, paintings come out very vibrant and saturated.
I completely agree. These were my first oil pastel set, and I was doing ugly art with this. I wasn’t sure if the problem was my lack of experience with pastels or the quality of the pastels, so I searched for a brand with good reviews and bought a set. It turns out that I can make pretty good pastel art with these other pastels. I was about to give up on pastels with the Van Gogh pastels.
Which pastels did you get?
@@artsymbol2560 I got Mungyo Artist pastel. Much better at smoothing colors and it leaves less pastel chunks in the drawing.
I love Mungyo, they are a little different from other oil pastels. I would also recommend Caran’ Dashe neopastels, those are more like oil pastels feel but really good
Thanks for the review
Thank you for this. Turpentine works?
:) hello my friend! These pastels are so buttery and soft (very different from any others), I don’t think you need turpentine. All of the colors are opaque, so you can layer them like crazy. It’s really strange but it’s really no effort to blend. One downside- they are almost velvety instead of creamy or oily, if it makes sense and they set(kinda harden) unlike other oil pastels.
@@artsymbol2560Danny (I hope written correctly) thank you so much for this. Some people complain about crumbling etc but I am really tempted. You are such a good artist, unlike many around here, I would like to know more about you and your work if I am not being intrusive here. Have a good night/day/everything/every time.
What do you use to sign your artwork? I'm really struggling to find anything that creates a clear, thin signature.
Hi! Depends on the pastels you used and how heavy you went. Sometimes waterproof brush pens work or liner brush with inks or thinned out layer of oil paint(I like watersoluble, they usually dry a little faster, especially if thinned out). You just don’t want to lift pastel underneath. Have you tried small manga brushes? Those have really good control of the line.
Pretty! What sketchbook are u using in this demo?
:) thank you! I’m using strathmore 400 series soft cover, i love those, paper is very nice.
Thank you! These never dry, right? What about when mixed with turpentine or linseed, or even fast drying oil paint mediums? I am in Belgium, i think we don't have gamsol here. My point is to somehow mix them with oil color, acrylics, and oil bar which is super expensive. Even for large scale stores drawing on paper. Lots of thanks, Best wishes!
Gamsol is like mineral spirit, turpentine and maybe an oil thinning medium definitely works, linseed oil works, but it’s pretty thick, hard to spread it out and you might end up with oily stains on the paper. Oils and acrylics dry, I wouldn’t mix it with pastels. You can definitely enhance your work with some(smaller details) acrylics, I prefer to add pastels on top of colored pencils or on top of acrylics (completely dry).
@@artsymbol2560 thank you. Conservation of oil pastel art work is definitely a problem, as far as I can see, not knowing much. You work on canvas with them, possibly best lightfast pigments under glass can work.
I have this set. I really like the painting that you did too. I think a lot of gouache in it's pure form is semi opaque but can be made opaque by adding a little white. I have to find one of those wet palettes to store mine in, as suggested above. I also purchased the Rebecca Green Holbien acryla gouache set as I loved her muted tones. Thank you for your video. I'll definitely check out your channel because I love whimsical illustrations and want to learn more. Thanks, again. Rachelle, Australia 🦘🌏
:) thank you! I have 18 set from Holbein and love it a little better. I think it’s still better to keep these paints in original tubes, any palettes will eventually dry out :(
Great video and your artwork is on the box! Congrats! I really liked this box. The crayons were really nice. Your snake though! Very cool!
Thank you!
Yay 😁🎉🎉🎉🎉
