Speedy Recovery, did you do a video on how or what event it happen at?
What's the max tire clearance, can it go up to 50mm?
The chain can be held on by the red plastic piece. It has a slight groove in it. Just route your chain like normal and it will hold it in place pretty well. Can still wrap the chain stay for protection.
Fantastic video, really enjoyed it! You were crushing it, man! I rode the 50 which at the time was my longest ride. I'm going to attempt the 100 next year I think although I'll be more at party pace.... who knows might even be DFL lol. Subscribed. I have my MS experience on my channel but it's a lot lot slower looking than your video haha
Thanks for the compliments and for watching! You should definitely do the 100 miler, you would get through it in no time at all. The Mid South has become one of my favorite gravel events. I'll check your channel out to view your MS experience! Cheers!
Looks a bit lighter than the Alan box but also bigger
Great video. Which distance did you do? Did you do it again this year?
Thanks! I attempted to do the 100 mile route, but didn't make the time cut off. I ended up completing the 70 miler. I didn't do it this year. I probably won't go back to this event again unless I go with a group. I live pretty far north of this area near San Francisco and the effort it took for me to attend this event was intense.
No one attempted to ride fixed ? For the challenge?
Who knows. There's no rules against riding fixed. But, I'm not sure why you'd want to in an event like this that has a decent amount of climbing.
Congrats on the ride! I've done Mt Diablo and Mt Tam but have not tried Mt Hamilton yet. Way to grind it out!
Thanks! You should add this to your ride bucket list. I recently rode Mt. Hamilton and Mt. Umunhum and will have a vid for that soon. (That was quite the experience!) 😅
Beautifully done! Reminds me of the natural beauty around us and the joy of why we ride!
Thank you! I 100% agree with you! I'm energized whenever I get to ride and experience the natural environment from outside of the car. Thanks for watching!
I just did my first gravel event. Heart of Gold in Nevada City. You should do it next year. Then there'd be two black guys in the event. Hahaha!
Haha! 😅 I've had this event on my list for a few years. I'm aiming to definitely do it next year! (And then there was two!)
Cool 👍
Welcome to NJ bro, a hussel here and a hussel there, but I love it!
Groovin to your vid and when you said you put on some dnb, got the sub. Keep pedaling!
Friend, what camera did you use and how did you carry it on the bike?
I guess the $ is worth it but worried bout them jus chucking my bike into the belly of the plane!!!!
That's was definitely a concern of mine. I've gotten over that fear as I've traveled with my Tarmac to numerous destinations without issue. I also add a bit of extra protection around the derailleur area using cardboard.
Good job!
Thats a great ride. I did it unsupported with a friend back in 2016 while planning our Ham/MtD/Tam ride. Going up the wall that is the backside of Ham cemented our choice of starting in SJ and finishing in SF.
That is a really beautiful bike!
This video is my second to last vlog entry. The next and final segment will cover my complete recovery journey in more significant detail.
I MIGHT HAVE TO POP OUT!
Done both peaks but in two separate times. 😂 Great video quality. What camera did you use?
What is it with cyclists recently having the flashing lights on their bikes switched on at daylight, while riding in a group and when there are no cars around? There is nothing more irritating than having a flashing light right in front of your eyes.
Couple things about that. 1. Depending on the ride, we're transitioning on/off road AND also, riding on roads that have car traffic. (In this particular video, the Mt. Tam area is packed with hikers and tourists.) 2. Most of us aren't even bothered by the light... we're too busy trying to survive the ride, and in this case, enjoying the stunning views and each other's company. 3. Drivers here on the west coast are AGGRESSIVE, so, the lights are necessary. We didn't start off riding on the trail, we road through San Francisco through touristville to get to the dirt.
I agree, the lights can be mostly pointless. However, really? You care that much to complain about someone wanting to feel safe on their bike? I can think of dozens of cycling things that are more irritating than a blinky light during the day.
@@smouvemouves Totally understandable. Thanks for the response. By my experience cyclists using flashing rear light in daylight just want to keep everybody from using their slipstream, that's why I was asking.
@@stoneybowmann Like so many cyclists watching their phones while riding? That is indeed more irritating. When I'm on my bike I have a near-hit with one of these zombies almost every time. You also cannot fend them off with flashing light because they never pay attention anyhow.
This was a great day. I'm rolling past you on the left at 1:16 th-cam.com/video/Wb1VnGV1Faw/w-d-xo.html
Great ride and gorgeous scenery. Just the right time of year while the Bay is still green!
I really wish it could look like that year around! Soon as May hits, the land turns back to brown rust 😅
Epic video!
I had colar bone surgery 5 days ago, go oversease in about 3 weeks are you being told to wear your sling 24/7 for 6 weeks ?
Easy climbs
Awesome!! Great Rapha Ride!!
That must have been a cold descent down Mt. Diablo. I would have frozen for sure. Sorry about your crash the prior year. I guess this was something of a redemption ride for you. Nice video and music. Thanks
I guess the breathtaking views made all the hellish parts worth it 😅
Where does it start and where does it end. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸From El Tour Tucson Arizona.
Thanks for sharing your amazing video, sorry to heard about the fee for the bike that’s ridiculous. I went to event too and the hotel did not charge any fee for my bike 🚲 I bring the bike to the room with me, this is the hotel name : Hampton inn Teaneck hotel. Located on Teaneck New Jersey, 3 miles away from GWB. Good price, very good hotel, good luck 👍 we see you next year on GFNY.
So awesome. I've been riding for years and never had the courage to do a Century. My legs start cramping at the 50 mile mark almost every time. I still haven't figured out how to eliminate that issue but I just wanna say I'm super impressed with your ride. What a great achievement. Congrats 👏
I'm down to try this but not on my gravel bike (even though I have road wheels for it). Sweet ride and sweet editing 🤙 safe riding
Bravo!! Well done! Love this video.
Great video. I have crashed on Mt Diablo. Now I usually take the mountain bike and take the trails down. You still might crash, but no road rash
This was awesome!
What camera do you use? Looks great
Epic ride, well done.
Nice ride and good video! Come climb in Utah for a good challenge!
You auto to come try the Death ride it is in northern CA in early July 104 miles and 14k feet of climbing. 😃🚵♀️
Yes to the drum n bass! Enjoyed the video 🎉
Nice one, thanks for sharing. If this is your idea of fun check out the Devil Mountain Double, also in April every year, that throws in Patterson Pass to make it an even 200mi and 21k feet up.
OH DAM! That sounds WILD, but I'm going to check this out! Thanks for the recommendation!
That you did this ride on a mostly empty stomach is AMAZING! You must store muscle glycogen very effectively and burn fat through ketosis extremely efficiently! Think what you could do if you consumed 30-60 grams of carbs per hour...
I live in Hawaii and am coming over to CA this fall to ride a bunch of your climbs. These two are on my list.
Excellent! Depending on when in fall, that's usually a better time to climb those mountains. Both mountains are exposed to the sun, so you'll want to check the forecast carefully.
Great effort on your part
came out so dope!!
Gnarly! Our healthcare system... yeesh! Super informative & nice edit dude.. you got it dialed in! Smooth & swift healing!!! MT Hamilton awaits!
Interesting tidbit... the 360 degree view from Mt Diablo summit allows one to see more visible land than any other summit in California
When is this ride?
