    • @keepmakindust

      What part of the country? Some areas you can charge more than others I’m in northwest Florida and I could get around $1800 for a 12’ and I figure that would be around $300 in materials and I could build easily in a short day then install the next day so call it two days. Like I said though prices vary in different parts of the country

    • @keepmakindust
      @keepmakindust 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can use kiln dried but it won’t be weather resistant only dry and ready for a stain. I would build it then stain it the a couple coats of sealer then install. You will need some type of waterproofing to keep your wood from rotting I would hate for you to spend the time and money to build one of these and it not last.

    The cross bracing explanation starting at 8:56 is super confusing. "8 and 10... measure both ends, add that number together and divide by 2 and get 24" " What in the world am I supposed to do here?

    • @keepmakindust
      @keepmakindust 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So the 8 and 10 are to get to 18’ which accounts for the overhang over your corner braces the scab board your using is 16’ and that’s so you can scab the 8’ and 10’ together and still have a double header so you can span the distance without a lot of sag you should have appx. 12” on each end that is only one board wide but you want to make sure you have the same one board overhang on each end. How do you connect the 90 degree angles? Like, between the blocking and the rafters? Is it just nailed at a 45 from one board to another? Do you nail from the outside in? @@keepmakindust Ok, I do not produce videos myself, I have neither the equipment, expertise, or time to do so. I am subscribed to over one hundred and thirty channels, I therefore have some understanding on what can make a channel successful. You say your viewing hours are dropping, I'm not really sure how it works but I would assume if you upload one thirty minute video and two subscribers watch the full video, then you would have achieved one viewing hour. If you upload one short one minute video you need sixty viewers to achieve the same hour watched. (at least this is my understanding). Most of the short videos I've watched are uploaded by established channels and the short, is taken from a longer video and usually has a link to take the viewer to that longer video. In essence the short is basically an advert to promote the original video. Short videos in themselves from what I've observed do not have many thumbs up, likes or comments. I believe this is what the TH-cam algorithm looks for to recommend the video to other viewers. Before you upload a video do an analysis and ask yourself does it contain educational, and or entertaining content. Chin up and good luck. 👍👍👍

    Unfortunately you misread the code. It says NEC 210.52.A.2 common height is 12-16" to the bottom of the box, but no required height is listed, and thats because kitchen and bathrooms have receptacles at countertop height, and now there are often TV height recepticals or wall mount ACs etc etc.

      I may have it’s been some years since I’ve read it you know how it goes you get used to doing something and it becomes second nature I should look at it more often because I reference back every now and then like in Florida now you have to do those stupid gfi or arch fault breakers on every circuit and they are expensive I’ve should have looked sooner because that’s a 24 code and I actually failed an inspection for it

    So you double up the 2x6x16 on the mounting side and the front? Or, why did you nail the 2x6s together? Is one 2x6 against the house not adequate?

    • @keepmakindust
      @keepmakindust 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I did for two reasons one was for strength because that’s a pretty good span and the other is because my door was 16’ and i wanted some over hang on both sides so I could have done 20’ boards but I would of had to order them. The 16’ boards are readily available so I could go ahead and build it. I hope this answer helps let me know if you have any other questions thanks for watching

      @@keepmakindust Thanks for this video. I have a clear-up question as @Karimcdonald4674. Did you run screws through the back into the siding over the garage to secure that Doubled 2x6 to the house? Thanks again.

      @keepmakindust 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@davidh8928 I did not I left a gap between the 2x6 and the garage so it wouldn’t collect leaves and debris and create a problem in the future. With that said you could screw it to the garage if you like

    An asian would've mounted 15 boxes in the time you spent (and not even completed mounting 1 box).

      Well I don’t know about you but when I’m mounting a box without making a video it’s quicker and I don’t dictate what I’m doing perhaps that’s what the Asians are doing
