tying small crappie jigs i look for ideas that right there is way above my pay grade good job lots of patience
Beautiful tie! Zonker leeches are truly smallie getters. Love tying them so much, have too many to use! Thanks for sharing.
The green backs baby!
Be a killer for walleye and pike up here in Northern BC. I’d bet money on it.
This is pretty cool, made me sub. Shout out from Canada!
Thanks for the sub Colton! Any favorite lures, styles or colors up there is BC?
@@juniorsfishingcompany right now orange and yellow are the hot colours locally , can’t buy a bite on black or white, which definitely isn’t the Normal.
Love the jig ties, appreciate you taking the time to share the pattern and videos! Thanks!
Thanks Bryan! Lots more to come!
I have never seen rabbit zonkers with the bling on them. Awesome looking jig. I have been using permanent markers on the hide. The hide seems to almost glow underwater so coloring it reduces that, but I like the gold on it. I do have a question. Why the dubbing loop instead of palmering a zonker? Less bulk?
Thats it! The hide adds a lot of bulk, which may be helpful at times, but i prefer something thin and leechy on something like this.
Very nicely done. With patience, you can usually overcome strange obstacles. Be blessed. My friend.
Always love the comments my friend!
Now that's a fantastic spinner bait. Leaving it thin and not bulky and fishing it fast. It will have a lot of swimming motion. The fish will not be able to stand it. Let us know how much fun you have. Be blessed. My friend.
Thanks as always! Have a blessed 4th!
Looks like an awesome color combo .
Thanks Colin! White works really well on for me up north. if it aint broke!
Totally agree....that is an aweaome color combo and build. Gonna have to look for some of those flat wing saddles. Thanks for the flash tie explanation too. Makes tons of sense. Love the channel and your work!
Any time! Have a. great 4th!
Looks great! White works anytime & anywhere. It also catches just about any fish. I caught my first musky on a white spinnerbait up in Canada. It was just short of 40 inches. I was fishing all morning for musky until my arm got tired. I had one hooked but he came off. I started bass fishing to salvage my arm and that's when the musky grabbed my spinnerbait. I've never tried a War Eagle but I'm sure they're great. I have a large box of spinnerbaits and most of them are Strike King which were always good enough for the price. I just finished 6 bass spinnerbaits and 6 musky versions from scratch with raw blanks from Lure Parts Online. On some of them, I mixed materials. I have round silicon rubber in rolls and mixed some with bucktail, tinsel, etc. I see many musky versions selling online with all flashabou skirts. I really don't think pike & musky care what's hanging off the back so it's mostly for our artistic liking. I look forward to the next one. Thanks for sharing!
Lure parts online has some great stuff! I agree, we spend a lot of time and effort on a bait but a hungry fish isnt very picky! Happy 4th!
Sharp looking jig!
This is gold. Thanks for sharing!!!
No problem! Thanks for watching!
A big fish will love that. Maybe in another video, you can explain why you use one type of hair/fur over another and for which conditions. I hear different thoughts on water temp, time of year, cold front vs warm front, etc. Or, maybe it doesn't really matter. Just curious about your opinion and the lessons learned.
Deer hair is better for bulk and squimpish hair flows more and there are some cool squimp colors that i cant find in bucktail as well.To be honest james, its pretty random lol. I just like to have a variety of materials, colors and sizes in my box!
Perfect proportions for that jighead size & shape. White or black is really all you'd ever need. The rest of the colors are just so we buy more materials. It's fun though.
Really like that walleye jig. Be blessed. My friend.
That is a fantastic looking chatterbait. I believe it will look better and more life like than the rubber or soft plastic. Be blessed. My friend.
if you cut the top corner of the angel hair packaging, you'll be able to pull strands out without having to fuss with it all.
Great idea! Thanks!
Very very nice. Be blessed. My friend.
Smallmouth killer!
It is going to imitate a shad real well. You should do great with this one. Be blessed. My friend.
Looks great. I'll have to try that on some chatterbaits. I've been buying Queen Tackle Chatter Blades and installing them on plain swim jig heads. I like them better than the ones installed with a split ring. The split ring versions add too much distance from the jig eye and take longer for the chatter blades to start.
Yeah ive tried building ones as well and have found the z man work great. Your 100% spot on with the split rings as well!
Esp love your bucktail walleye ties. This is a beauty. Thanks tons for sharing. Q....is there a practical reason you do not fold over flash to cover the opposite side?
Its usually because when i fold it over, the folded tinsel is longer than the hair so I end up trimming it any way. You can do either though!
Love your jigs and your tutorials. Great job
Thanks for the support! Lots more coming!
You always give out great info , tips, and tricks on how to tye and make the lure great and also save money. Thanks for all you do for your community. Be blessed. My friend.
Another great looking hair jig. Keep ‘em coming!
More to come!
Man, that's a work of art. I'm sure a musky will want to tear into that. For that stinger hook wire, I was wondering if a double barrel crimp sleeve might work to ease some pressure on the threads. You'd have to install it before the final wire bending though. I guess a sold metal bead may do the same function. I was thinking about this because I'm getting ready to add a 4/0 stinger to a custom-tied spinner bait for pike/musky. No matter how robust you think it will be, the fish love to test it out and that's the fun part. It makes you tie another one and instead of live & learn it's fish & learn. It looks great. Wonderful job! I have learned a lot from your videos in such a short time. Let us know how big that musky is.
great ideas for the wire! and good luck out there this summer!!
I really love this one and the 11” squimpish. I think they would be good in river tailwater situations were we fish for musky, or even a cast back bait for following skies
ive always got one on my third rod for follows!
How can I get some of your musky jig flies?
unfortunately with a 2 month old and a 3 year old its hard to find extra time at the vise for ones to sell, but keep in touch and i can try to find some time to make a couple for you! thanks for the support!
What a great muskey lure. I'm sure you are going to get them to strike it. It was great to see you thinking about doing something new. As far as showing everything you did to accomplish this lure. Maybe you can break the video up into different parts 1,2,3. I believe it would be very instructional to experience lure makers. Let us know how it swims for you. Be blessed. My friend.
multiple part series is a good idea!
Love your creativity and technique. Really an inspiration to get outside the box. Thanks for sharing! Enjoy the channel a lot.
Thanks Rob!
best lead for probably any lures. I use gamakatsu iseama 1/0 to 4/0 (and i use the for salt water too). I use marabou with flashabou (synthetic) and a feather of on each side (grizzly rooster) you can add soft plastic on the hook or put a rabbit trailer (zonker). These raccoon fur look promising i need to try (for northen pike)
Sounds like a nice pattern!
Greetings from Fargo ND. Nice tie and thank you for the tip about the coon zonker strips!
Not to far from me in central Mn! Yeah its something i never thought id be tying with lol
Why do this and not wrap the zonker strip? It looks good, I am just curious about your decision. I have yet to try a dubbing loop.
You could absolutely do that! With the hide still on, it would add more bulk than i wanted on this bait. Thanks for the comment!
Now that was thinking outside the box. It came together nicely. Please tell us how well it moves in the water and if the fish liked it also. Be blessed. My friend.
Always fun to trying something new! Thanks as usual!!
Spawn fly fish is one of my favorite shops. They do a great job
Same here!
If you fish a crappie lake, something larger will bite that. I think it resembles a crappie nicely. Looks great! Those jigheads are new to me. I'll have to think of some ideas for them. I've never tasted raccoon but I've smelled a few recently. I trapped and killed 3 of them who were tearing shingles off my roof and also peeling off some vinyl siding. I wasn't about to grab any of their stinky fur or tails for jig material.
Yeah ill clean a bucktail or two, but skinning a racoon is a little past my commitment level lol
Would you add a trailer to this or fish it as is? I just lost the skirt on a spinner bait and might have to give this a try! Thanks for the idea!
Ill usually go as is! A plastic can hinder the materials from moving.
I would buy that
Looks great! I bet the smallmouth will love that jig. Well done! Do you ever use small plastic trailers on your jigs?
Not very often, but occasionally. Putting plastics on with deer hair kinda prevents both from moving well in the water but i will if i wanna beef up a profile!
You tye some great jigs. I believe you accomplished what you was going for with just enough body mass for the tail length. Look real good. Be blessed. My friend.
Nice sucker pattern. Looks like the real thing. I recognize those jigheads. I'm betting Big Bite Baits makes those for Scheels. I use the TRU-X Wally version of the Swimmer Head (same but with a dorsal fin on top). The plain Swimmer only goes to 3/8 oz. and the Wally goes up to 1.0 oz but still retains the 3/0 hook. Those jigheads cut through water well and the hooks are thin & sharp. The only thing I dislike is the bait-keeper wires. I normally cut one of them off or rebend them. They tear up your plastic baits but a little CA glue at the back of the head does the trick. The funny thing is that I was just looking for some jigheads to tie up and I picked out a few of those in my box.
You can never go wrong with a classic black and white!
"Dubbing loop? Naw he doesn-....holy cow he does!" Great video!
LOL i was thinking the same thing
Thanks! Dubbing loops always look ugly until they get trimmed and wet. Trust the loop!
@@juniorsfishingcompany lol I am used to seeing dubbing with like a #16 hook. This was impressive
Thanks! Dubbing loops can be tricky but the are killer patterns
Very good color combo. Hold on tight to the rod because the fun will start soon when you fish that one. Be blessed. My friend.
I dont throw super bright baits very often but sometimes its the ticket!
Looks killer! The nicely tapered tail will do great on a chatterbait. You can't beat chartreuse in muddy water or lakes with perch in them. Well done!
Summer fishing season is here!
Marvelous hack!!
Glad you like it! It works!
The hair colors really mute the head color. It looks like a perfect color combo. The head color is the least important especially when using those gigantic eyes on the jighead. It will definitely catch fish. Great tutorial, as usual.
Totally agree! I personally think color can be a very over rated part. Size, retrieve speed, depth and many other factors may come into play before color. But its still fun to mess around!
JF....Polar flash would do extremely well in these style jigs as well.
Polar flash is an amazing flash! Thanks as usual, Alex!
Keep these coming JF. You will sell a ton of these. Great job.
Hope you tied more than one because the fish are going to try to keep it. Have fun reeling them in. Be blessed. My friend.
MN Musky opener this weekend so the small jigs will take a back seat. Unless my patience runs out!
@juniorsfishingcompany please be patient and catch some muskeys. I have never fished for them, but I've been told they are worth the time put in to get one to bite. Let me know if this is right. Be patient. Be blessed. My friend.
