Kubota BX Backhoe Operation. How to control and use a backhoe.
It dawned on me that many folks that end up with a small tractor like this one are excited to dig into a project, but may have never used one in their life.
Well, we all start somewhere! The controls on these are simple enough, but it does take some time to master the combinations in order to make a good cut. I suggest finding a nice flat field to practice in for a 1/2 day. By then, you'll be ready to go!

Kubota BX25 Backhoe Digging a 120 foot Trench For Power
มุมมอง 74214 วันที่ผ่านมา
These Kubota BX Series Tractors are great tools. Add the Backhoe option on the BX25D and wow, these are life changing. The idea that at my age I could hand dig this trench in any reasonable amount of time is just nuts. Instead, with this tractor, I had the entire thing done in a day, start to finish!
Winch Stop Working? Watch This To See How To Fix It!

These low cost electric winches are great for ATVs and trailers, but they often lack the quality of their larger more expensive counterparts. As a result, a lack of seals can cause water to rust them up on the inside. It's not the end though. I spent an hour or so to take this one apart and clean, lube, and reglue it and now it's back up and running. Sure beats spending the money to replace it!

I bought this 2012 model in 2017 for quite a bit of money. Getting the Backhoe was a want, and it was one that has since paid for itself. Not everyone needs one, and I don't need one often, but man it really comes in handy!

Husqvarna TS354D 200 Hour Review
มุมมอง 3.5K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
The Flagship of the Husqvarna Riding mower/ Garden Tractor line up, this Garden tractor has proved itself to be a valuable member of the farm. This one has a LOT of upgrades though, and I'll be covering all of them in future videos. Even after the cost of those upgrades this work horse cost about 1/3 of a Sub Compact Utility Tractor like the Kubota BX.

Love to have a piece of equipment like this! Thanks for doing the video!
It's a great tractor for sure!
Thanks heaps. Best vid so far. Hopefully I can do it.
You got this! Let me know if you have any questions.
Previous owner maybe passed away.
Not sure
Ahh, we’re both rich in clay!
This is better than when I lived near Raleigh. That soil was horible
@@farpointmowersandmore when I lived in Goldsboro, I actually didn’t dread any digging; it was sandy and easy digging!
I have the same chainsaw with the same problem. Glad to see this vid.
I'm glad it helped. It is a common problem.
Actually those little kits are a must if you do any small carburetor work. But that little tool kit is nicer then mine it came in a plastic bag but works.
agreed, if it works, it does not need a fancy case.
Set the parking brake on the tractor and you won’t drag yourself backwards so much and you’ll actually dig the trench faster
I was trying to save some time, but rushing sometimes takes longs. Thanks for the tip
Great content...thanks for posting this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
How wide and deep will that dig. And by all means that digging is a young man's game. That tractor is all you need at your home. Do you have a hole digger for fencing and post? Now, that would be sweet, too.
The bucket on this one is 12 inches but they make a smaller 8 inch one. I have been looking at the fence post hole digger. It's not too bad cost wise to add it.
Thanks so much, this has been a life saver. Question, at 10:41, you say you got the belt underneath the brackets. How? I can remove the bolt and the gap is so small. Thanks from downnder
I had to pry it up over the lip and then rotated the pulley to walk it on to it.
@farpointmowersandmore nailed it. Thanks so much
A penny saved is a penny earned. That's what I was always told. But im 57, so maybe the price went up? But yes why spend money if you can prevent it?
Exactly. I don't want to spend it if I don't have to!
This was a great video. Very interesting that it did not have o-rings. Be interesting to see how much longer it lasts now with some RTV.
Time will tell. I also taped over the seams with waterproof electrical tape to seal it further. Hard to imagine that they decided to cut corners there!
It's great that you got it fixed! Now you'll have to put it to the test by finding another mower to work on. You could modify a cat litter bucket to cover the winch when not in use , protect it from the elements.
That's the plan now. I want to find a semi-permanent cover for it. Such a bummer that it had issues from sitting.
@ Sometimes that’s what happens with bargain tools, but hey, you got it working, probably better than factory. Might need to figure out some quick release bolts/ pins so you can install/ reinstall with little hassle. Oh yeah, I have a 10’ pole for ya .
Everything overnight in a bag of rice, you'll be golden. LOL!
Ha! I don't know if that would have worked this time. This was pretty darn nasty!
What are the belt part numbers?
Sorry, I don't have those. Look on the inside of your hood they should be listed there.
Great video on training a newbie to mower service. Just wished they’d put a serviceable HST in those tractors. Filter and HST fluid change is the life of those transmissions. I think they’re Tuff Torq brand not sure of the model. A few years ago I was in the market for something better for mowing and rear lift attachments so I went with a trade in 2016 Kubota BX-1870 54 deck no loader for 9 grand only had 95 hours on it. Warranty left plus Kubota financing at a tremendous low rate and got the Kubota insurance at a really good price. Those diesels just don’t use a lot of fuel ! Love it ! Still Iike the Husqvarna model you serviced. Thought you had a BX too. Have a Blessed Day 73’s W4YDK 🇺🇸
It is silly that they make it nearly impossible to service them! I will eventually do the job on this one, but it requires removing the entire transmission from the mower to do it.
Love these garden tractor videos! Great job and keep up the good work!
I am glad you enjoyed it! I will see what I can do
I would try mixing some of the drain oil in with the diesel/kerosene and run it in the little heater you use for the shed.
I thought of that, but I have heard so bad things about doing that. People were saying that it gummed up the combustion chamber and was a real mess to clean up.
So happy you and Jenn are ok. so many not so lucky . Looks like you have to go threw the drainage threw the property and make improvements where you can. The best you can do is give water a easier path to drain. Maybe dig a ditch to redirect water flow around the shop. Water just finding lower ground. I have a gas powered trash pump I use to help with flooding. But Helene was an exceptional storm .
We had talked about doing a french drain before the storm, I am not sure it would have made a difference with this storm
People truly don't understand that about the safety bar. They are there for that reason to save your life.
That is what it is there for, people get killed when they don;t use it.
Great long term review....thanks for doing this
You are welcome!
The mower i have looks like that one 19.5 hp was made for craftsmen by mtd. Other day decided would turn over 1 time booster cables from tacoma no go cables direct on starter managed to start it reset valves 4 thou. Intatake and 6 thou. Exhaust acording to what i read on internet ..guess ill be ordering a cam shaft the decompression doesn't work..saw them on amazon with engine gasget crank seal 2 ?? Push on cam.push rods up an down on cam in canada 60 some bucks called a small gass repair he wanted $175.00 with engine gasket ...and said would cost over $ 300.00 to install it ...amazon it is and thats my next project ...
That cam shaft is a tough one to get in and out, but it is worth it if you can do it yourself!
Craftsman made several different quality levels of riding mowers. My brother needed a mower and sears had a deal if you used the sears credit card to make the purchase. I expected it to be really cheap. But it was actually pretty well made. If he would have taken reasonable care of it I think it would still be running today. But he never did anything to it until it stopped working. He left someone else use it to cut his grass and they drove it off a 12 foot drop off. It didn’t kill it but it bent the steering column and that made it hard to steer. If he would have purchased their cheapest line I'm sure it wouldn't have made it near as long as it did.
That’s a shame that it got beat up so bad but it sounds like it was a solid mower for a while!
Thanks for the video. I could actually see what you were doing, and the camera wasn’t moving all around. Appreciate it!
I try my best to make sure everything is clear for the viewer!
@@farpointmowersandmore Appreciate you lots!
Congrats on the new channel. Condolences on the storm damage. Your skills with power equipment will prove very useful as regulations and supply chain issues put other shops out of business. It's hard to get reliable parts now, so being able to spend the time refurbishing what's on it will be what's required.
Thank you! I'm hoping to get it all back up and running soon. I agree that parts shortages are coming!
Great video thanks. One question, I dropped my small extension spring and can’t figure out what it attached to. Anyway you can show me a vid or picture.
It might be part of the deck lift assembly, but if you can't find it on this video, I'll try and take a picture.
Hurricanes🌪 never hit the Western coastal USA States.
But earthquakes and the occasional Volcano do!
Site prep and proper grading is very important. Also a road is only as good as the ditch next to it. These two things are what appear to be your problem.
don't be cruel !
The barn was a chicken barn with a dirt floor. No flooding for the 10 years we owned it. Then This summer I had the pad pour and no issues then either. Turns out this was a massive flood that no amount of "Drainage" would have stopped.
God bless you and your family and friends
Thanks! We are A-OK now. The power is back on and we are cleaning up.
WHEN U CAN open doors windows air it out allow things to dry and clean up rest the best u can i would glad u had stuff up off the floor as much as u did that in its self saved on clean up time 4 sure .
That is what we are doing. We cleaned it up and left the doors and windows open for a full week. It doesn't seem too musty in there now.
@@farpointmowersandmore great to hear .
Hopefully the damage is minimal!
It appears that we lost the heater, but everything else survived. Lucky!
Looks like you did a good job being ready, simply by being neat and organized before hand. "Farpoint Mowers and More will be back in action before you know it".
Thanks for the kind words. We got it all fixed back up!
Glad you’re power is back on. I’m sure you were very relieved.
It was quite a mess. 9 days without power, but we are back online now.

Thank you my friend!
The way that wind was blowing , rain was driven into spots that are typically "water proof " around the roof
It's a bummer as I just replaced all that insulation and now I'm wondering if it's soaked.

Glad you are doing alright. Watch out for the electricity and sunshine will help dry out the ic motors. Heater might need disassembled and reassembled. Barn stood well. I'm praying for y'all.
Thanks man. For the little carport, turned barn, turned garage, it's doing OK!
Thanks Good you are ok❤
We are blessed to have suffered so little when so many around us suffered so much.
I'm glad you and jenn are ok. Feel bad for everyone affected by the storm take care sir
It's really tragic how bad things are. We are very lucky.
This is crazy. Nine or 10 days without power with no end in sight is incomprehensible to me. This is terrible.
The power finally came back on, and I can say that by day 4 you are kind of just used to the new routines. Yes, it's a pain, but it could have been a lot worse.
@@farpointmowersandmore And you're 10x more prepared. Sheesh. Glad you got power, man.

How in the world did you get that spring off with one quick tie. I got thru four so far and that spring has not budged.
magic-- OK, not really, it is the 30+ years as a mechanic
@@farpointmowersandmore ok got spring off. Question #2. Put screwdriver in hole on pulley. Put on 7/8 wrench, turned a little bit, screwppears loosened up just like you said. But now screw just turns and turns and turns but never comes off. Appears that the whole shaft is turning.
Finally got it thanks
Manual level cable 8.00 bucks Electric clutch 300 bucks Which one do you want??? Think about it 😊
Good point on the cost
Nice honest review! From Sophia, N.C. I noticed at a local Husqvarna dealer close to me that on the new GT models the diff.lk. is automatic.....no more manual button.

@@farpointmowersandmore Yes, I have been following your "storm" updates. We are glad that you are OK. Take care of yourself.
My dads had one of these since around 2015 doing heavy yard work with the tow behind leaf vac chipper etc and its been a pretty reliable tractor until it started running on one cylinder this week. It has fuel and spark so the valve covers are comin off soon to see whats up
You will have to let me know what you came across
@farpointmowersandmore the valves were way out of adjustment to the point where a push rod fell out and got bent. Straightened it on the anvil and adjusted the valves on both cylinders and now it's back to running with no other problems
Flat front right tire. That looks like my club cadet at the moment. 😅Getting that fixed!!
