By the way, I was very Young when Alice Cooper or Black Sabbath came out and learned more about this as a young 12-13 year old Girl in 77-78. I told You that I am a lot older. I guess since I maybe 2 decades older than You or more; I have to say that I believe that Alice Cooper could be considered the first real GOTH Singer, Song Writer and Musician. If You listen to Some of His earliest work; since there were no technical Goths; His earlier songs; I would consider totally Goth. He wrote Dead Babies in the early 70s or late 60s. It was considered Horrible by The “Good, and Moral People/ Parents.” It was about how some Parents would put toxic cleaners under the sink without any locks and Children that got into them died from being poisoned. That and “Under My Wheels,” about wanting to run over a significant Other. Anyway, I am not saying that You are wrong just much Younger than some of Us Old Buggers. I really believe that Alice Cooper and Ozzy Osborne with Black Sabbath were the Precursers or Original Goths. In fact, when Ozzy was asked, “Why did Your band decide on the name Black Sabbath?” His answer was honest and said they had seen “People dressing up in horror costumes, Men in Drag Horror Characters and standing in long lines to see “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” He and His band mates could not believe that the fans of the movie were doing this and not for just Halloween showings of the movie. The movie was so controversial about a Woman that was a Virginal Wife, other women and it had gay or Homosexual People and Partners in Drag. That was seriously, taboo for the late 60s and 70s. Ozzy and His Band mates decided to name Themselves after the scariest Horror Icon that They could think of and that Was Black Sabbath. Going along the lines of People love or like scary or horror movies and scary names.

After watching the men's 40 years of goth I agree that this one was a little more costumy. The pin up I was sad to see because in my head I was waiting for Rockabilly. But then like you said there were no really dark colors and it just didn't feel right. I do wonder why they haven't shown an all white look that some goths like to wear.

I consider Amy Lee and Evanescence to be "gateway goth" because I listened to them before I was goth and they probably had a major part in me eventually becoming a goth, I still love their music although a big part of that is just nostalgia for me

i can't see myself belonging to any of these labels. I just don't like being labeled period. However, I wear a lot of black, dark makeup, tattoos, I love the Goth Culture but I also love all those styles. I dont know anything really about the Goth culture, music and art wise, I just know that its beautiful & have always seen myself different which is what i find beautiful about all of this from the beginning. But i love learning about it all. I just turned 31 & just have always felt like i gravitated with this culture, because where i grew up no one really is into that except for me haha.

I would rather use creepy~cute instead of pastel goth and I think it fits better, NU goth for me is like a basic, normal-fashion-like and I don't really like it, it looks like a "proper goth". I prefer the messy hair, the big shirts, chains, the ripped fabric, the spooky makeup and how intimidating it looks <3
