Tommy Vann and the Echoes...The beginning, the end, and 45 years later, the reunion.
มุมมอง 3742 ปีที่แล้ว
Tommy Vann and the Echoes were the premier band in Baltimore Maryland in an era that saw hundreds of bands in the area at that time. The group formed in 1961, and was fronted by Tommy, who had an incredible vocal range from low tenor to falsetto. The rest of the group were a talented set of musicians, who could all sing. This gave the group an amazing mix of vocal harmonies. Their remake of an ...

Western Maryland Revisited

Fan favorite, Western Maryland mixed fast freight, foreign power, coal, ore, a large port facility, and great scenery into a 700 mile system. Sorely missed!
Touring the Erie Lackawanna

I was fortunate to spend much time with the great EL. Its people were truly the finest railroaders I ever met, and the railroad, though doomed by forces beyond its control, was a well run machine that delivered exceptional service until its obliteration by Conrail in 1976. This is my tribute to this spectacular railroad.

Sisson Street bridge Baltimore...where it all began
มุมมอง 2715 ปีที่แล้ว
Sisson Street bridge in Remington section of Baltimore had my presence regularly for the first five years of my railfanning life. Untold hours were spent here absorbing the reality of railroading of the time. 1964-1968 proved to be my basic training for a 25 year passion for railroads and the photography of them.
B&O Memories Baltimore, 1965-1968

My earliest days of railfanning in Baltimore, with the Oak Street job out of Bayview yard in north east Baltimore. These were my first cab rides, and the roots of my railroad photography and passion for the railroads, and my respect for the men who worked on them.

Great tribute to a super railroad! LOVE those F models! Good old days!
Nice !
September 1967 , Club Venus, TV and the Professionals KICKED ASS !
Thanks for the memories. It very much appreciated!
Hey Atleast C&O 1309 became as western maryland
WP Lettering was Orange not Yellow
Fantastic
Very nice photos but the titles are obnoxious. Maybe get some constructive criticism of your work before you post…?
It's been up for several years and you are the first one to mention that. My constructive answer to you is, you are the only one it has bothered.
Great photos and music. Wish you had provided a bit more time on each photo though. Awesome video!
Don't forget Monon (absorbed by L&N), WRA, and A&WP.
Chessie Steam Special is rusting in the parking lot at B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore. If they were going to do something for America's 250, they would have started work years ago. Nice montage!
A wonderful tribute to a great railroad that should have lived on longer. Thank you.
Love seeing the old engines. Never forget them. thanks so much.
Slow down!
To folks who dislike the playback speed, just go to your options and select 0.5 or 0.75 speed. Great video, Bill! Thanks. I am from Adams County, PA and often cross the old WM Dutch Line.
Great flicks.
Music was way to distracting I ended early
Absolutely beautiful!!
Enjoyed the video. Just as info Family Lines was never a company but a marketing tool instead. SCL, L&N, CRR, etc were still separate companies under Seaboard Coast Line Industries until they were merged into Seaboard System in 1982.
Thanks for that! Can you tell me why did Seaboard systems merge with Chessie' ?
Loved the early years of CSX even though 🎵the L&N don't stop here anymore 🎵. Johnny Cash 😎👍
I used to work for Northfolk and western. This video makes me cry 😭😭
I rode The Southern Crescent from Atlanta/Charlottesville several times. Northbound, it'd stop in the dead of night at the C&O/Southern Railway junction. Most of the engines were still in the black scheme. What a piece of history that big Charlottesville station was. I think it was Southern's depot. Sounds echoed off it's walls, a C&O switcher came, picked up some freight, and went it's way. Must have been two, or three in the morning. The Southern Crescent was far and away, classier than the motley Amtrak trains I rode then.
RIP Mr Vann Jan 2022
I LIVED ON 24 ST MY ENTIRE CHILDHOOD LIFE IN THE 80'S IN REMINGTON..MY HOME WAS RIGHT AT THE END OF SISSON ST...I USED TO PLAY UNDER THAT BRIDGE ALL THE TIME..I WALKED IT EVERYDAY. WHEN STANDINGS ON IT WHEN TRAINS WERE UNDER IT ,IT SEEMED YOU COULD ALMOST REACH DOWN AND TOUCH THE TOPS OF THEM..THIS BRINGS BACK SO MANY GOOD CHILDHOOD MEMORIES..THANKS
My great aunt lived on the corner of Miles Avenue and 26th Street. I could literally sit on her back porch and look directly down on the Belt Line at Huntingdon Ave. When an eastbound came out of Mount Royal tunnel, I could clearly hear them coming upgrade, and I'd take off, camera in hand. I spent over four years over under, and around the Sisson Street bridge.
A bit quick,but good,.thanks
At 10:24 into the video.......... that is not an SW1500. It is an MP15AC. Great video of scenes lost to time, however. Thanks for posting.
Way too freaking fast. I went back, hit the settings button and played it at .25 speed. Mute the sound too, the piano sounds stupid at .25 speed. Otherwise, nice collection of photos.
My suggestion is to never watch it again. Lets see what stupid you have in your collection.
The last days of the Eagle should have never happened. 🙁
2:14 Hagerstown looks so different!
Definitely need to slow the shots down. Great pictures, but by the time I was able to read the captions and the animations were done the next picture was on screen.
👍👍👍
Fantastic stuff here, Bill. Thank you!
its kind cool that even though the photos are black and white the resolution on the old photos are crazy.
What can one add to this, either you connected to (coupled ) the road or you didn't. without a doubt if you saw the WM in person it was love at first sight.
Great pictures (though I had to use my pause button a lot to slow it down). Bring back the streamlined cab units!
I wish this didn't go so fast.
We could do without the Mopac stuff, it did 'nt have half the class of the WP ! But thanks.
Agree with you 100%
I miss the Missouri Pacific.
Wow great pictures. I wish I could have been there😃👍
Great video but way way too fast
That's how fast it disappeared.
Hope you do some more videos. Love the train photos.
Love those Alcos. Got an RS-3 on my layout
BEAUTIFUL VIDEO FOR A TRIBUTE TO CONRAIL, i did have a rip off of i'm blue but it was deleted off youtube, this is beyond impressive
My God, you have to look real fast. 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎 shitty video.
Shitty comment! lets see what you can do asshole
Fantastic pictures, but please let us see each photo for a longer period of time. My mouse finger became tired of hitting Pause. Also, the titles could be smaller - they block out too much of each image. Thanks very much for sharing, however. You just have to love all those eclectic engine lash-ups. All that counted was horsepower, and the =WM= utilized whatever was available at that moment to get the tonnage across the line. The Cumberland consist at 2:41 with the RS3 on the point and two large EMD hood units trailing is simply priceless.
Thank you Bill. My Grandad worked for the B&O in Cumberland, where I grew up. Your pictures and videos are wonderful. Sharing them as quickly as I can ;)
Slow down the picture flipping. It is hard to understand what you are seeing when they go by so fast. Would have been more enjoyable if I had time to see what was in the picture before it was gone.
Change your playback speed in YT settings.
They used to play at a teen center, and we loved dancing to this song. Miss that time in life so much
Great piece! Small corrections -- 4:53 - Service tracks at Bryan Park engine facility (Acca Yard). 5:39 Paint shop at Bryan Park (Acca Yard).
Didn't want this to end. Just like the WM itself.
