    Sadly, you won't see much of the younger generation at the library, unless it's super young grade school kids. Also, it's older people either working or using the computer since a lot of them don't have access to one at home. I am thankful libraries are still available and still free to the public. Lord knows what's gonna happen to them with that Orangutan taking office again in January.

    Does your spending app allow for rollover spending? If you figure out what some of your personal spending is every year, you can budget it out per month with a rollover spending.

      Think this general idea is sound. Gets to the overall ability to say "I'm financially independent!" Hopefully, a situation never comes up where you have to prove it. But it's probably better to have the option to say "I choose where I am" versus only choice "I need to be where I am."

    So I have struggled with this extremely in the past but I struggle with it a lot less now, like easily less than 10% of what it was at its worst. Most days I don’t have any of these compulsive thoughts and it’s been that way for years. Things that helped me included: understanding that I had to re-learn how to see. I mean, I was using certain cultural narrative for self-harm, so it was important for me to question those narratives, understand their roots, and dismantle them. This is an ongoing process but holy crap has it helped. Maybe more than anything else. 2. Learning more about neurodivergence. BDD in itself could be considered a form of neurodivergence, but also understanding that there is a strong overlap between OCD/BDD and ED’s and things like ADHD and autism made a lot of things click for me. In my case, once I had controlled the BDD and ED and even the anxiety, things were still “off”- turns out there was a deeper issue that I needed support for. Of course this won’t be everyone but the correlation is strong according to the most recent research so I think it’s worth understanding the overlap even if you experience one and not the other. 3. Finding somatic approaches to stress management. Deep breathing, walking meditation, trauma release through movement, stuff like that. Bonus points if that can happen in a group space with no mirrors/cameras, but I know that can be a tall ask these days. Good luck out there, and thank you for being so raw and honest here.

    You need to increase your coffee budget. Buy it if it brings you joy! Coffee is not that bad of an expense. Also stop paying for other people. Sneak out of the offices and buy your own coffee 😂. Once you are better off financially, you can be more generous. Here is my Canadian 5 cents.

    Many years ago, one of the wisest people I have ever known passed along a brilliant piece of insight that they themselves had picked up from another bright mind. The gist of which is as follows… When you desire something but cannot have it (now/ever), take comfort in the fact that said item exists in the world and that you are aware of the (hopefully positive) feelings and thoughts simply seeing and thinking about it has brought you. All that exists on earth is, in a very small way, each of ours by virtue of it sharing the planet with us, and what we cannot have is no less meaning, beautiful, etc because it is not in our own hands. ~ Almost nothing pertaining to consumerism has helped and comforted me more than this concept, and periodically reflecting on it has now saved me from many (likely unnecessary) purchases - while also strengthening my financial fitness, so to speak, in the process. 🙏🏻💰💓

    i'm the same I see so much cute stuff but then it's like i enjoy the white space more than I enjoy seeing something cluttered up ...and it's crazy because I've been married 30 years mother of eight been very poor with my husband while now we lead a good lifestyle have great careers and a 4500 square-foot home. I know where I came from our cluttered small apartment filled to the brim... I like seeing white space in my home now it just brings me so much joy but yes, I am a former shopaholic. Oh my gosh, I was addicted to luxury bags actually sold a few and was able to buy some investment properties so basically I'm still spending but smarter spending more like investing over spending.. however investing can be an addiction too. I've definitely made some big-time investment mistakes where I should've been more prudent.

    I have ADHD and get hyper fixated on a topic or item and do deep dives into research on an item or category but it causes me major issues. Researching exposes me to more choices and price points causing me to spend more time and money. I am a duplicates buyer so I tend to buy several of the same things trying to find the “perfect “ one. I am better off avoiding all research and just buying the first one I see.

    The "30-Day Rule" really stands out. Giving yourself a month to think over a potential purchase is a great way to see if it's something you genuinely want or just a passing desire. It's impressive how this approach can shift focus from impulsive buying to mindful spending. Definitely a rule worth trying!

    I'm turning 40 soon and I think kids are cute, but not for me. When I was younger and still living with my mom we took in my sister's son for a year because she couldn't handle his ADHD/Bipolar disorder. I love my nephew, but I'm pretty sure that experience pretty much turned me off to the whole thing and honestly I struggle with taking care of myself let alone a tiny being.

    If your budget categorys were bigger, you could easear make the decision do i want to spend most of category money only on one expensive item (for ex. In food category spent 50% on dining out, or 30% spent only on coffe)

  • @ingridadargiene3163
    @ingridadargiene3163 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Your budget is a bit all over the place. It would be easier for you to save if your budget would have biger categorys (like: transportation, housing, food, health, entertaiment...). And in these categorys you would split the money for separate items. In that case you could more easily see which area of your life causes overspending the most. And also would be able to make the decision if you want to sacrifice other areas of your life for ability to unproportionaly fund only entertaiment, or only grocerys category. And now you see only budget for "bills", and dont see for what the most those bills are, so you can' t make a decision should you lower those bills expenses or not.

    You should definitely add TH-cam as income even if it’s variable it’s money that you ARE making and it is part of the income you have coming in every month. Why aren’t you spending it? Or paying extra on debt with it? It should be part of your plan. Also if you add the posh mart money as income it would be there to account for money spent on the expense (shoes). Or if you don’t want to add posh mart as income edit the expense to only the amount you paid without the posh mart money. Otherwise it just looks like you are spending extra money without taking into account that you made extra money (by selling on posh mart) to balance the expense.

    • @DSL318
      @DSL318 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Agree. The TH-cam money is income (congrats!) and should be accounted for and tracked as money you’ve put into savings. For reimbursements that should not be categorized as income, you can change the Quicken input to the correct category so they get credited to the correct budget line. You’re doing great!

    If you have the time/interest, you can manually recategorize some of the “income” that Quicken is assigning. Go into that transaction and change it to “sister trip” for example, and then it will show up as a credit in that category instead. The same for your work travel reimbursement. And, that way your spending line items end up more accurate as well.
