Join me as I vlog my tournament experiences, tackle tips, and just go fishing.
Flood Warning! Tournament on a Flooded River.
Today I’m fishing a tournament on a flooded Mobile river. The river was above flood stage and pushed up in the woods as far as you could see. I ended up going way up a creek looking for water that was still in its banks and found some fishable areas around a couple bridges. The trusty wacky rigged Senko really bailed me out on this one with some tough fishing.

The Only 3 Fishing Knots You Need to Know.
มุมมอง 1.1Kวันที่ผ่านมา
With so many videos and opinions on fishing knots it can be hard to know which ones you need. With over 30 years of fishing experience and countless days of trial and error Ive narrowed it down to only 3 knots. In this video I'll teach you how to tie the only 3 knots that I use. 1 Improved Clinch knot. This is probably one of the most wide known knots and I’d be willing to bet the first knot mo...

The Video That Almost Didn't Happen. Bassmaster Kayak Series Possum Kingdom
มุมมอง 73221 วันที่ผ่านมา
The Bassmaster Kayak Series on Possum Kingdom Lake was quite the grind for most of the field. With less than a third of the anglers catching a limit every fish proved to be valuable. A slow start had me scrambling my mid day and a last minute flurry earned some much coveted AOY points.
Smashed Em on a Custom Swimbait. Another BIG limit on Lake Chickamauga.
มุมมอง 900หลายเดือนก่อน
Caught another big limit using a custom swimbait at the Kayak Bass Fishing Trail Series on Lake Chickamauga. This early summer tournament on Lake Chickamauga had the bas in transition. With fish being caught up shallow on bream beds and some out on the ledges already it was a great time to fish my strengths. After catching a few key upgrades to win Trail 1 with my big swimbait I decided to star...

Big Swimbaits and BIG Guntersville Bass | KBF National Championship Day2
มุมมอง 6292 หลายเดือนก่อน
Day2 of the KBF National Championship on Lake Guntersville Came with very high winds. We made a much better ramp choice on day2 and had a quick limit early. Later in the day the wind really picked up making some areas completely unfishable. That lead me to having to fish behind people so I tied on a Big swimbait and went to work knowing I just needed one or two good bites to get back into this ...
Big MOVE Saved My Tournament - KBF National Championship Day1

Day1 of the KBF National Championship on Lake Guntersville started out tuff. I made a Big move mid morning of day 1 and drove an hour to change ramps and it saved my tournament. I started in an area I caught a couple decent fish in practice but after several hours and no fish I decided to load up and drive to another area. This move proofed to be just what I needed catching my limit in 45 minut...

In the past I've installed the foot braces under the front plate on my Hobie Pro angler but in this video ill be installing them above the plate on the H Rail. This is the preferred method if you want to be able to use keep your in hull rod storage. This method is also great for standing...

Enjoyed the video man! Keep up the good work, that 20+, 18.25, and 16in helped ya big!! Good job!
Thanks. I appreciate it.
My grandfather taught me the improved clinch knot when I was a kid. (I’m almost 60 now) He didn’t tell me it had a name. I don’t think he knew there was any other so I grew up not knowing there was any other knot. But I remembered it my whole life even after not fishing for a couple of decades.
We grew up calling it a fisherman’s knot. It was definitely the first knot I learned.
Great video as usual. Do you use the loop knot? If so, what applications?
I actually don’t use it. I know some use it to give walking baits more action but I haven’t felt it necessary
🪢👍Nice knot skills 😃
Better to have knot skills than not have skills.
You learn something new everyday. I had no idea that you could swap out the tie down's with the paddle holders. This is a game changer for me. I hate having my paddles so close to where I sit down! Love the setup. Tight lines!
It really is. Glad I could help

Great video brother finally watched this tournament wow way to end your day on the lake even at the last minute!! You never give up never drop grinding and that’s why I love your video content you keep pushing and look at your reward! Thanks for sharing tight lines take care and God bless!
Thanks man
Thank you for sharing your day and keeping it real. We always get the positive videos no drama no downsides to a fishing day, but I appreciate even the bad days! The struggles are real the emotions are real and it’s not all sunny rainbows! I think having a day cancelled plays on the mind and only one day to grind but you got through it and completed your tournament! Tight lines sir take care and God bless!
We all have bad days. It’s what keeps us humble.
I have nearly the same setup, but I use the NK180 from Newport. Would love some links for the other stuff. Great video.
Thanks. I didn’t realize I didn’t have the links on there. Check the description I added them.
Great video! Love sams big smile in the photos at the end, these memories will last a lifetime!
They sure will
Awesome setup, well done! Any chance you can expand on the steering? I see you have the YakAttack MightyMount Duo Rail Adapters, but how did you connect the Sea-Lect steering peddles too the YakAttack rail adapters?
Here is an in-depth video on it. **BEST** Way To Install Foot Control Steering th-cam.com/video/LsGMjSkirGM/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for sharing your struggle
Absolutely.
Hi Garrett. New to this and just bought the elite FS 9. If I’m going to use the gateway and NMEA setup, can you tell me what I’m supposed to do with the original power cable that comes with the fishfinder?
You will still need to hook the fish finder power cable to a 12 volt battery. I install an inline fuse on the positive wire and a 5amp fuse.
@@garrettwadefishing I think I’m following. Also, I saw that you have to power the NMEA after powering the motor and fishfinder, so do you have a switch that delays it?
@zmoorern it’s not a bad idea to have it on a switch. You could probably get away with putting the Nema and fish finder on the same switch so it all come on and turn off together.
@@garrettwadefishing thank you! Wish me luck.
@zmoorern haha. Good luck. You’ll do fine.
For me I hate it when practice goes right because I won’t catch ‘em during tournament day. 🤦🏻♂️
That happens too much. I like for practice to give the right clues. But not so much I get stuck trying to make something happen.
What kayak trailer is that?
It’s a Tennessee trailer
So you didn’t mushroom the tubing in the rear of the kayak. Just super glue. How has that held up? Just curious
I only mushroomed the tubing in the cockpit area and put a dab of glue on it. At the back I pulled the slack snug and glued it in place. Once the glue dries I cut off the extra tubing.
It has held up really well. That’s the third kayak I’ve used only the glue in the back.
That setup for standing with the motor looks like it is working out well
I can’t imagine going back to the way I had it.
The fish on Chickamauga are thick!! I love that lake! Congratulations on the win!!
Thanks. They really are.
That's awesome video what swim bait you using that's a killer
Thanks. It’s a custom one I picked up at a local tackle store. It’s similarly to a sashimmy
Doesn't have any name bro it's okay if it's not to tell me I respect that
It’s a small company and I don’t know of anyone throwing it so I’m going to keep it to myself for a while. I probably could have caught them on something similar but I’ll never know. It’s won me money on two different lakes now.
Saw your recent post on KBF, and now I’m here. Good stuff sir. Tight lines and God bless!
Thanks. I appreciate it.
Great two days on Chick. What rod do you throw big swim baits on?
Thanks. I’m using a 7’6” heavy TFO professional series. It has a mod/fast action
Great video sir that was fun to watch although the conditions were absolutely miserable you grinded and got a big bag of fish! Now at anytime did the conditions out there were too sketchy to have to make a quick decision to seek safety or it was still pretty controllable? How do you decide when it is too much and you have to look at your safety over everything else? Since you uploaded a this video everything was overall safe and you got what you needed for an amazing day out on the lake. So thank you foe sharing your day and being safe out there tight lines and take care!
This day was mostly just rain. I’m not a fan of lightning and will usually seek cover if it starts popping.
Awesome job! Rainy days can often be the best days.
Thanks. Some of my best have been during the rain.
😎
👊
Now that was a nice turnaround to your tournament sir well done. You knew you had to make a decision to your game plan went to another location persevered and overcame and caught some nice large bass. So a not so good start ended a wonderful and satisfying end of day one! Thank you for sharing your day take care and God bless!
Thanks. Fishing doesn’t always go according to plan.
What a beautiful and satisfying day on the lake and share it with us today! I could watch your tournament days for hours I love watching your skills and technique on the water you sure know where to find them and I really enjoy them when you bring them on the kayak. I can’t wait for the end results video but when I’m off in a couple of days I think I’m going to watch some more of your videos!! Thank you so much keep them coming tight lines take care and God bless!
Thanks. I appreciate the kind words.
Congrats! What’s your buzzbait setup?
Thanks. I’m using a TFO Option series 7’3” heavy rod. Lews speed spool with Seaguar 17# InvisX
Glad you showed getting tangled up on that hookset. Sometimes i feel like i spend more time untangling stuff than I do fishing. I'm not alone lol
You are definitely not alone. Some days are definitely worse than others. It’s good practice in controlling frustration and staying focused.
Awesome Job Awesome Video.🎉🎉🎉
Thanks 👊
I dont like to be wrong so ill say it was a least 2 pounds 😁
I think your safe on that one. 👊
I’d say 6#, 8# if I caught it.
I’d call it 8 if you caught it.
Are you steering with your shins?
I am. I have a cushion on the foot pedals so it doesn’t bruise them.
Perfect
Congrats, Garrett! 🔥 …6lbs all day
Thanks dude. I think I agree with you in the weight.
Nice setup and rigging. For the NK300 lift arm, can we purchase it as well? I have the same motor and the lift are that comes stock bent as it is a heavy motor.
Thanks. The lift arm isn’t available anywhere at this time
I'm jealous of that crate, I need to make myself one. My brother and I ran into you prefishing at Guntersville when we pulled up at the ramp (Malone trailer with 2 blue Hobie 360s), we kept an eye on the standings to see how you were doing, heck of a job! I'm not sure if this was answered elsewhere but does your buddy sell those brackets by chance?
I don’t believe he does. It would probably be a good seller though. And thanks
10:19… I wouldn’t call it a game changer, but I’d definitely call it a great idea! We have a very similar set up. Great video
Thanks. It definitely makes standing a little easier
@@garrettwadefishing you know what I’ve only fished my kayak once in the last year! I don’t even know what I’m talking about! I think I’m more into accessorizing it, due to lack of days off.
Accessorizing is a hobby all to itself
If you're not short on time it seems like the sweet spot is between 20% and 30%. That offers the most range with the least amount of battery consumption. That said, if you're only going on a few miles then you may as well just crank it on up.
You get used to the speed very quickly. I almost never run under 5mph
Thank you
Your very welcome
Sweet set up man! 😮
Thanks 👊
Nice setup 👍🏾
Thanks
Awesome video Mr Wade I found your video by chance. I don't own a Hobie. But I own a native Titan 12.5 a Hobie will be next please keep the videos coming. I just subscribed. Stay safe out there and God bless
Awesome thanks. I hope you enjoy the content
Can you make a video on your trailer
I’ve got a couple custom changes I’ll be making to it soon and will definitely post a video once it’s done.
Nice setup!
Thanks. I’m thoroughly enjoying it
@@garrettwadefishing You should look into the Ketch Jake plates. When i replaced mine I set my plastic Hobie ones one the table and i was amazed at how much they deformed. Sick kayak none the less.
@Bret5Cr15 ketch makes some awesome products
Found the video randomly but glad I did! Sick build! Will use some of the stuff you have there.
Awesome. Thanks
I’m impressed well done sir!!!❤

@@garrettwadefishing lol referring to your 2023 KBF championship video I should be down there for the Knucklhed series in November. Keep the videos coming
It was definitely good to me that week
Absolutely awesome!
Thanks
Dope set up! I like the little specific you did for YOU and how YOU how to fish. A lot of people are copy and paste just because they others with it.
Thats what makes kayak fishing great. There are a million little ways you can rig it to make them custom just how you like.
I wonder why people don’t get foot steering for their spotlock motors. It seems like the PA has enough space to fit one.
That’s a good question. It would be worth doing in my opinion
