What month did you travel to this resort? And what room/floorplan did you stay in

Well my husband's friend recommended this resort and we booked it last night. Should have looked into this sooner. My husband does not believe in looking at reviews.

Here right now yes the beach isn’t great the rooms aren’t clean when we came here the bathroom was disgusting we had to wipe it all down. You couldn’t even see in the mirror. Everything else is pretty good though wifi is very reliable I find honestly better then mine at home lol

Summary: everything sucked at this resort for this guy... Can save yourself 13 minutes

I would never do it again. We turned down the timeshare presentation from "Guest services" they got very aggressive, they got irrationally mad when we told them our employer has a timeshare and we are employee-owned so technically we have a timeshare. They wanted to argue that we were lying and did not own a company. made us super uncomfortable. Also everything we brought back from there needs to be washed multiple times. We'll be using a ozone machine on our luggage to hopefully remove the mold and mildew smell from the room. There is visible black mold in the rooms and in both buffets all over the walls near the air conditioners. Many of us were sick by day 2 or 3 The "beach" is not relaxing unless you enjoy being asked at least 30 times a day to get a massage, purchase cigars jewelry whatever crap they were selling. And they don't simply take no for an answer and walk away.

Do not do it. I'm not sure how this place Is well reviewed. It all started negatively at check in. It was 3pm and one person was working the front desk. It took us nearly 2 hours to check in. I walked over and asked the employees at guest services if they could help and they said they were unable to. Then, they had us sign a form that said my partner would agree not to posting any negative things about Sandos online. Then after we got to our rooms, one seemed just fine, the other was definitely not. The floors were wet, the fan made a terrible noise any time it ran and there was not a single towel any where in the room. Additionally it took us nearly 12 hours to get the crib that we'd requested for weeks ahead of time. But with a broken phone and an app that didn't seem to work, it was a bigger ordeal than it should've been. The general buffets were not good. After that first day we decided to try for the ones you needed a reservation for. Concierge told us it goes live on the app at midnight. So here we all are sitting there, waiting for midnight and constantly refreshing, only for nothing to happen. Nothing went live and nothing was available. After complaining with them the following day they gave us a comp reservation. Then we tried for the hibachi/exclusives that don't show up in the app. They said they start at lets say 8am, we stood in line early and sure enough they started even an hour beforehand. All of this is to say there is a lack of communication around the property. On day 3 of our stay we learned that if you stayed I believe it was 5 nights (Maybe 6) you got 3 complimentary dinner reservations that they'd schedule for you. We never heard this during our many visits with concierge and only managed to over hear it while they told another guest. After spending all this time and money we felt like this place was one big scam. The eco-ness was just a run down property. The beach was rocky. We left feeling so disappointed. The only shining spot was the employees in the dining areas. They were always kind and friendly with our son. But every one else at the front end, from customer service, to check in/out and concierge was frustrating, condescending and unhelpful. This may be long winded but, if this stops even one person from visiting this property I'll feel so much better.

ZERO STARS! Worst experience ever. From the beginning: check-in process takes forever! Then, before finishing and stepping into your room, they start offering services and stuff for an extra cost. Rooms are okay, with damaged furniture, a refrigerator that doesn't cool your beverages enough so they end up hot, a poorly cleaned and moldy shower. The A/C broke down, and "we will fix it tomorrow," so we had to sleep in the same room (party of 5, including 2 children). The pools were dirty, including the "aqua park," which was filthy and gross. Really nasty. The staff were rude, and when you approached them to express your concerns, they didn't care at all; they were just focused on taking your money. The spa massage was good, but the front desk was terrible; they didn't mention that you needed to arrive 10 minutes before your service to force you to speed up your service. The hotel won't allow you to order food from outside; if you do, you'll have to walk to the main entrance to pick it up, and it's far. MOSQUITOES ARE HORRIBLE HERE! Additionally, restaurant reservations and information are through their app, which is a pain because the cellular signal is almost non-existent. The night shows are like a cheap town carnival. Zero stars.

We waited very long for this trip and were sadly very disappointed. I have been to Mexico 5 times and this was by far the worst resort I have stayed at. The description of the resort is not accurate (on the website/ travel sites). It boasts the resort from maybe 10 years ago- it is NOT like that now. The food is the worst I have had at any resort. Very difficult to make reservations (you have to book through an app and they fill up fast). Even the restaurants where they take resos- very poor and bland tasting food and small servings. The only restaurant we enjoyed was the one by the adult pool where they serve fish tacos. Most (not all) bartenders were less than friendly. One in particular at the sports bar would even snicker at us and gave some very poor service. We were with a group of friends who had various nights/ events they were hoping to plan at the Disco- which they do NOT have. They advertise that they have one but it closed during covid and never opened back up. If you plan to do any dancing or socialize with friends after about 10 pm you can’t do it at this resort. There is NO swimmable or walkable beach. Apparently it got ruined during weather or storms years back- either way it is filled with rocks and you cannot enjoy it. HUGE bummer. We still enjoyed our time as we were with our group of friends- so obviously had no choice but to go to this resort. We would not return. Do not waste your money and come here. Only positive point was the greenery/ t jungle you could walk through. And the gym was ok. Just an honest review.

we stayed there last week and it was amazing don’t fall for videos like these and experience it for yourself I recommend booking with royal elite membership we had the best time of our lives one thing I would agree on is to avoid the buffet since it’s meant for mostly kids and kids are running wild in their while their parents just sit on their phones so I would recommend going to royal elite only restaurants for breakfast and lunch and only book dinner with the a la carte restaurants

AVOID THIS RESORT. IT IS NOT WORTH IT

Tired of all these entitled impatient Americans whining about a nice resort. If you want luxury, why don't you pay luxury prices? I've been here many times and haven't experienced these problems. Being in a natural rain forest is all I need.

We arrived yesterday the service trash food trash room is nasty. AC do not work no hot water. The worst resort we ever stayed at within 24 hours.

UPDATE: After receiving a large amount of negative reviews the management at this hotel decided to reward employees and their families if they could produce fake positive reviews. You will notice a two week period of five star reviews from new google account users, some of which have the same name. You got to love it when management makes fake reviews instead of addressing the problems of this resort. This is the problem of looking at reviews on booking sites and google. A lot of them are fake or purchased.

This is a review from Google, just a week ago: The pools are disgusting. Our kids came home with HAND FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE and multiple people we saw had raging staph infections creeping out of their swimsuits.

Hello, stayed at sandos caracol for 3 days and couldn’t get much done. Like explained in this video the reservation system is completely different from other places. I couldn’t get seats at neither fogo de brazil or the Japanese restaurants, the personnel told us to check on the app at 3am 😅I tried and the app was closed in matter of minutes. I can’t say nothing bad about the nature aspect it’s absolutely amazing. The service is lacking as well as the food. The food is by far the worst I’ve ever eaten. An employee names Jorge was super helpful and friendly. Other than that I can’t say anything good about this resort. For the price it’s not worth it. They offer 24hr room service but the food is by best mediocre. They absolutely don’t care about the quality of the food at the buffet’s. Skip sandos caracol if you want to have a memorable vacation.

Was here last week and here is what must be changes they made from this review and my experience. - There were refreshments at the main lobby during check in. a fruity/flavored water and Iced tea. - Lines at the elephant bar not long at all. never waited more then a minute or two to get a drink anywhere on the resort. - They offer 2 beers Dos Equis and Sol. - you can get a coffee at any bar on the resort - app worked fine the entire time and although you do have to reserve a restaurant at midnight every night to ensure a reservation, it wasn't a week. as a matter of fact only RE members can reserve a week in advance, everyone else has to reserve the same day. Booking at midnight, we got a reservation of our choice everyday we were there. - Wifi was reliable and available the entire time (no upgrade) -Resort is big, but not un-walkable to anywhere you want to go, unless you are disabled. - No Mold in my room. Windows and balcony had working locks. Room was basic, but we were only in the room to shower and sleep, so I wasn't worried about the lack of decor. Maybe some debris on the balcony, but you are in a jungle. What do you expect really? Don't go to a jungle resort if that bothers you.. -Buffet is not great, but not horrible. We didn't go hungry. Don't go to this resort looking for 5 star meals. -Again never waited in line for more then a minute or two for anything, and we booked all the free activities we wanted with no problem with plenty of availability. But yes, get there first thing in the morning to sign up. -main pool had a swim up bar that was open daily. -workers were all nice and never seemed uninterested in helping anyone. -There are no pools of human waste. There is a smell of decaying jungle matter from the mangroves in some areas of the resort, but that is a natural decaying process of nature. It is not sewage and human waste. -agree with water park. its showing its age and the water in the pools was cloudy. -agree with the beach mostly. It is a nice beach for sitting and relaxing, with plenty of seating, but you really can't swim. its all rocks, even if you go out further. Even with water shoes, it hurts to walk on them. If you go further down the beach, its a bit better, but still not on the same level of their sister resort's beach. In Summary, beach is disappointing, but other then that, had a great time and was happy with the resort.
