Translation Part 2 Presenter: something not so usual, developed from an idea from Nemo resulted in two concerts in Biel and in Solothurn….. Nemo: it is a professional Environment, all instrumentalists can read music and can Interpret it . The question is more to come together in the Dynamics. It is Special to connect pop and Classic from timing. The things we had to look at were how to involve the drums. Presenter: that were some of the many questions that had to be discussed. But Nemo is known to cross borders. It was also for Nemo a new experience. Nemo: it was much learning, much discovery . I am always a big fan of new things Presenter: that is how the two concerts were created , a lot of Nemo‘s songs were presented in a new way. Nemo will present the next Song live in the concerts. Nemo: on one side I was very happy that I can perform this Song here, But on the other side a little sad, l thought oh no, why didn‘t we think about a Version Like that before we came out with that Song, Like that it is a Bit cooler. Now you hear the coolest Version of this Song.

Translation 1.part Somewhen in that eurovision preparation crasyness I thought what if we would play that song with an orchestra. It has so many elements that are made for the orchestra. I told my mother and she said call Dieter , the director of the Symphonieorchester Biel-Solothurn. I did and he had much energy and elan and said maybe we can really do that, let‘s try. We did it in Biel with the orchestra. It was so much fun and it was so good to relive everything. I have so many memories of the theater in Biel. I was so often in the theater or played myself or performed in opera. It was such a good vibe that we thought let’s do that next year with the code But also with some other songs. Präsenter: and that is what Happend. Nemo gave two concerts together with the Orchestra in August. Nemo said that was very special. Nemo will tell why After we hear one of the songs …..Pop meets classic a la Nemo

Translation/Explanation Background information: Marc Sway lost his younger 24-year-old brother in an accident in 2019. He was informed by the police by phone when they found the body. Later in the program, he says that at the funeral, a flock of migratory birds suddenly took to the sky over the lake and flew away. It was autumn. Marius lost his father during the preparation for this program. ----------------------- Dodo: You grew up in Biel, in a very creative family. Your father has an agency called Brainstore. How does that work? Nemo: Brainstore is... not a shop where you can buy a new brain. It's an idea factory, so to speak. You can go to my father with any wish, with any idea. It can be a name for a goldfish... Dodo: Yes, it's a think tank. He and his team will help you find a solution. Nemo: Yes, or an idea. For a product or branding. Dodo: You were there as a child too, weren't you? Nemo: I can't really explain it to anyone. I can't describe how amazingly beautiful this place was. On three floors, in Biel, near the lake, a creative space. There was a reception downstairs with a bathtub in it. In it were notes with ideas. Or once, they had piranhas in it, which is perhaps not such a good thing…for animal rights. They had piranhas. In the bathtub. Just like that. I was like: Were you insane? Then you went upstairs... Dodo: Since then, Nemo has just been travelling like this (gesture with fingers) Nemo: There were different rooms upstairs where people met. Sometimes there were up to a hundred people, depending on the project. There was also a place with a lawn where people could lie down. You could hear birds twittering and read a newspaper with lots of ideas in it. I am so grateful for this place and that I was allowed to spend time there. That I was allowed to be a child there. Dodo: To the next song. It's called ‘Du’. It's actually your biggest hit. Our biggest hit. You received a Swiss Music Award for it. We'll take a look at it. _Video ‘Du’_ Dodo: What you're saying is so true. Nemo: The mum of my girlfriend at the time once said: Hey, you really do lose something all the time. It's really annoying, but you should write a song about it. On the way away from this conversation, the first sentence came to my mind: Ich ha mi Chopf immer irgendwo, irgendwo, woner nid sött si.(My head/mind is always somewhere. Somewhere it shouldn’nt be) And then, it was just like this: What if I lost everything but the people in my life? If people were all that remained. _Video “Du” ends_ Marius: Mmh... That look into the camera! Dodo: Marc, who is the ‘Du’ in your version? (Du means You in German) Marc: I remember the first time I heard this song on the radio in the car. Somehow, it touched me right from the start, but I hadn't realized why. It's a funny story that totally suited you at the time, Nemo. And, um, I chose it because it touched me first and foremost because of the melody. Then you go into this process with the question: Yes, what do I do with it now? And you said today that you were nervous... _Pause, searches for words_ Ehm. I lost my brother. Since then I've always thought: you may lose someone, but that person is somehow still there. I think that's what I wanted to say with this song. So now, I pull myself together and do the song. Dodo: That's kind of wonderful. Someone takes a song that actually has a funny component and then says: It's about my brother who died. Dodo: presents the song ------------------------------- Text adaptation by Marc Sway My head/mind is always somewhere. Somewhere where it shouldn't be. And every time I get up, I wonder where you are now. We've lost you. A voice on the phone trying to explain to me that you've died. Suddenly the pain comes. The incomprehensible grief. But something always stays: I think it's you (repeatedly) Time heals all wounds. But time does not pass. The only thing that fades are the memories of you. We've lost you. A voice on the phone trying to explain to me that you died. And how long will this pain last? How long will the grief last? But something remains forever and I believe it is you (repeatedly). So the day comes when the birds head south. Then I stop and know that you are with me now. We fly away in all my thoughts and I know that the time is now. The right time is now. The day is coming when the birds are heading south. Then I stop and know that you are with me now. We fly away in all my thoughts, we fly away and I know the time is right now: I'm ready now. I'm letting you go. Now I know it's you. (repeated) ----------------------------- Nemo: Hey. Marc put his whole heart into this song and opened himself up to us. Cachita (to Marc): The song went straight to my heart and touched me a lot because it reminded me of my grandfather, who was very important to me. And, ehm. Yes... it was so direct… Eliane: It's an expression of the fact that we're all in the same boat right now. We can all relate and empathize with this story. Nemo: It was a warm and sad feeling at the same time and I don't think I've ever felt that so strongly about a song in my life. --------------------- My opinion: Marc Sway’s and Marius Baer’s voices are two of the most expressive and strong voices of German speaking Switzerland. They did a good job with adapting Nemo’s songs. Songs, Nemo wrote as a teenager. Marc recognized the incredible melody and made it deeper.

Translation Part 3 (10:50) Dodo: Nemo. What can we expect? When is the new song coming out? Nemo: I already said it at the concert. It's coming next Friday out. It's called Eurostar... Wooh... Eurostar. And it's... I won't say too much about it. Because I read in a book about good marketing that you shouldn't give too much away (laughs). But I will say one thing: before the ESC, I already had a lot of songs. You know me, I always have a lot of demos. And when the label asked which song we should release next, I realized after listening to all of them, that I needed something that was actual. Something that is “in the now”. I think it's great that The Code is retrospective. That I'm telling my story. But I wanted something that felt like the present. Then I went into the studio with Liam in July and we made Eurostar. Then everything happened very quickly and now it's only a week away. I'm enjoying the song so much and I hope people out there feel the same way. There will be a lot of extra things happening around the song. I'm super excited and also a bit nervous. Dodo: And then you're also going on tour. Can you give us a little insight into that? Nemo: Well, yes. There are a few shows in Switzerland this autumn. Next year in March I'm going on tour in Europe. That's crazy. And it's mega nice. I'm working on my first album now. That's incredible for me. Then I moved to London four weeks ago. I'm very happy that the European tour is now within reach and that I'm in “album mode”. That I can write, make new songs and then perform them in 25 cities... no, countries. Dodo: Countries. And how many continents? Nemo: One. It's a European tour. Dodo: OK, OK. I'll come to Japan then. Let's go 50 years into the future. You have grandchildren and you look back on your time in Malmö. What do you think you will still remember? Nemo: Oh, I think my grandchildren are in for a boring slide show. I tell them every detail about every photo of every person who was there. What country they were from, what their name is, what we talked about. But who knows, maybe they're in the mood for that too. No, I think what will stay with me - and I've already felt this over the last few months - are the friendships I've been able to build. I think these will be in my life for a long time to come. I have also been able to build up my self-confidence and trust in myself as an artist. It's difficult to go out from Switzerland with English music. We all know that and few have dared to do so. The cards are stacked against us. It's not an obvious path and I think the whole thing has given me, but also Switzerland as a country with many great creative people, self-confidence. And I think that makes me happy and I will still be yapping about it with my grandchildren. And I'm sure they'll get bored. Dodo: Ladies and gentlemen and everyone in between. A big round of applause for Nemo, please. Thank you for the insight and I look forward to all that is to come. PS: The remark about the book about marketing seams to be an insider joke between the two. Probably because when Dodo coached Nemo as a teen he always had to tell Nemo that it's important to get paid.

Translation Part 2 (02:43) Dodo: I'm different from you in one other respect. I wouldn't say that I quickly discard my decisions. But that's why I'm a producer and not just an artist. You have a thousand ideas and you want to realise them all. And if you can't do that with one producer, you’ll do it with ten. But that's the biggest difference between you and me. But how do you think people see you from the outside? What type of decision-maker do they think you are? Nemo: I have the feeling that we talk about everything in great detail in my team. I have to back up my decisions very well with arguments. But sometimes I'm also good at rhetoric. Sometimes I come up with good arguments. For something or against. But I think I can convince people quite well. But I might very well say the next day that I changed my mind. Maybe that's why others think I'm a bit impulsive. Dodo: Just a little. Nemo: A little bit (laughs). I don't know, YOU worked with me! Dodo: I think you've reflected yourself very well. Applause for Nemo. Applause Dodo: That really is one of your greatest strengths, that you can do that so well. And that's also how you approach people. But you're very persuasive. When you're convinced. And you're convinced of many things that you like and can do. And then you can also... (interrupts himself an speaks to the public). Maybe an example: about a month ago, we (Dodo's band) came back to the studio from a concert. Nemo was sitting on the studio sofa. At three o'clock in the night. And I look at them and ask: What are you doing? And Nemo: Listen, this beat is so good. I have to finish it. Listen, Dodo. Listen to it. And Nemo started singing. And I had to say: Nemo. I can't. I'm too tired. I have to go to sleep now. You can sing now, but I can't do it any more. And that's so great about you. That you have so much energy and so much passion. Nemo: Thank you, thank you. Dodo: That wasn't a question. Nemo: What should I say to that? Dodo: Looking at you… yes, people could say you're lucky. But I want to tell you that you're not just a lucky person. You are a person who creates opportunities and has the courage to seize them. It has a lot to do with hard work and less to do with luck. Do you think of yourself as brave? Nemo: Mmh... Yes. I would say so. I do many things that require courage. But if I know that I like doing something, that I can stand behind it, then it doesn't take that much courage for me. Do you know what I mean? If I'm convinced and enjoy it, then it's the easiest thing in the world to put it out there. But other people might see it as brave for me to jump around on a stage. Or that I'm doing the matrix move on a huge turntable. Do you know what I mean? Dodo: That really amazes me. You know, millions of people are watching you. For me, that really takes courage, the moment you realize: now I'm about to go out there! Nemo: Well, yes. But to be honest, I was also a bit lucky. Many people asked me afterwards how I did it. They asked if I had magnets in my shoes. Only then, did I realize that it would have been a mega good idea and then I went to the director, Benke, and told him: Hey, why didn't we think of that ourselves? It would have been so much better. But luckily everything worked out. We just thought: If I fall off, then it just happens. Then, it's part of the show. But I had to be able to surrender to the moment every time and overcome the fear. Dodo: But that's not what I'm talking about. I trust you to do that, it's acrobatic and you've practiced it. But the moment of: I'm going out on stage. Now! Nemo: I've often thought to myself: Hey, why didn't you choose a simpler staging? It was always clear that the first 30 seconds are easy and from then on, a lot can go wrong. And I think that's why I felt a lot of pressure. But this pressure also forced me to let go. Even if something goes wrong, you can use it. That gave me the courage. (Maybe it's not clear in the translation. In Swiss German Nemo says in between the lines: Falling down would have been OK. It would have been part of the message: If you put yourself out, you fall or fail. Then you stand up and continue or try again.) Dodo: I can... No. I would have shat my pants. I can understand it a bit. I know the feeling. I've had it at the Gurtenfestival, for example. It's a nice feeling and we get a bit addicted to it. When you're an artist, you want that thrill, that nervousness. But when you have to sing a perfect pitch and do a circus act to go with it - that was pretty incredible. You have my utmost respect. The fact that you have this courage also makes you a role model for many people. And I don't know if you realize that. That the courage you show also makes it easier for many people to make decisions. They then think to themselves: Nemo did it too. Nemo: Yes, of course I've noticed that in the last few months. People have told me that. How much courage a person who can stand up on stage and tell their own story can give them. These are those people who are going through something similar or have a similar story. They can identify with my story and then they can suddenly explain it better to their friends or family members. That's when I realized that it's a huge privilege to be one of these role models. We are now generally in a time where there are great queer role models all over the world. It's easier as a young person growing up now. I don't think there have ever been as many openly queer people as there are now. Never before have there been so many role models. At the same time, we're still at a point where so many people haven't understood what it's all about. Many people are not yet kind enough to each other. It's mega weird to take place on these two levels. But basically, I think it's really nice to be a role model for others. A person that young people in particular can look up to. Especially because I didn't have that as a child. That's mega nice. Applause

@@AnastasiaShaposhnikova It's so touchy because they are really good friends now. Dodo was Nemo's mentor when they started their career at 15. I think Dodo did a great job and found the right balance to deal with all the ups and downs of a teenager, to encourage the creativity but still get things done and put up some rules. Dodo is proud like a dad would be and he shows it. He also respects and admires Nemo's talent and has no problem admitting that he learned a lot from Nemo and also ask Nemo for advice in musical matters. Dodo really didn't miss the moment to switch from mentor to colleague.

Translation Part 1 Nemo: Dodo! What are you doing there? Dodo: And Dr. Mo, of course. Make noise for Dr Mo! Nemo: Dodo always shows up when you least expect him. That is when he is suddenly there. Dodo: You are in MY hood here. Nemo: Yes, ok. Dodo: Many of the songs you heard today were written here. About 50 meters away from here at the Pfingstweid. Shall we sit down? Nemo: Yes. Dodo: (to the public) You can sit down too, of course. Nemo: Else it would be akward. Public sits down Dodo: I can interview you a bit now. Just very briefly. It is about this Postfinance production called ‘Life’, which is about the decisions we have to and are allowed to make in our lives. So I'm going to ask you what type of decision-maker you are. Nemo: Oohh. So, in general? Dodo: Yes, in general. There are people who make decisions quickly. And those who make decisions based on gut instinct. And then, there are those who have to think about it for a long time and start to ponder. Nemo: I think you would agree with me if I said that I make many gut decisions. Don't you? Dodo: Yes, you are very much ‘the gut type’. And you've had to make a lot of decisions. Nemo: Yes, that's true. Dodo: Well, you just have a lot of ideas. Nemo: Yes, I have a lot of ideas and I decide very quickly in favor of one. But I also don't have any problems changing my mind. Dodo: I also think that's what makes you so special. That you're super relaxed with all your ideas. They are there. If it's not the right one, then the next one is already waiting. Or the next ten. (To the public) It's really cool when you work with Nemo in the studio. You plan the production of a song, and you can be sure that you'll leave the studio with three songs at the end of the day. And then you've already forgotten the first one. It was a huge hit, the first one. But the second and third were even bigger hits. Nemo: And how do you decide? Dodo: Erm... Nemo: Now you will say: I think everything through very carefully and I... Dodo: No, no. I listen to my gut, and I also make decisions quickly. But not as quickly as you. What are you doing now? Have you decided to roll off the stage? Nemo: No, my nail has fallen off. Laughter
